The SEPTA NABI and American Ikarus buses are now in their dying days. This video features about 8 minutes of SEPTA NABI footage, mainly in the northeast with a few shots in Central Philadelphia.
SEPTA's NABI 416 buses are the last 40 foot buses that SEPTA operates that were purchased in the 1990's so once these buses retire, the only buses SEPTA will have from the 90's would be the earlier Neoplan AN460A articulated buses (7101-7109). These NABI 416.08TA buses are powered by a Detroit Diesel Series 50 engine and a 4-Speed Allison B400R-4 transmission.
All the footage in this video (aside from the clip of 5365 on route 55) was recorded from a mobile phone

I really loved the bus at the beginning with that rumbling sound the series 50 makes.
david123321ism 0:21 sounds a lot like mta style
Me, too. Wow. Small world. These were the best ones that SEPTA ever had, hands down.
These busess sound absolutely terrific. I'm from Philly, originally, & aside from cheesesteaks, SEPTA is what I miss most. I would ride all things SEPTA on the weekends growing up. If I did my homework all week, & my Saturday chores in the morning, mom would toss me my weekly allowance & lunch money & I would take rides on these behemoths. My favorite would be, on a bright Saturday morning, catch the 6 from 65th & Ogontz, or the K bus to Arrott Terminal, the El, or the BSL & 36 Subway- Surface trolley, getting off on Eastwick Av. to go to the beautiful library, the "house of glass," as I referred to it. Its so cool that there are SEPTA fans out there, filming these awesome machines. Some of the best transit buses ever created by far.
What do you mean you miss septa? Did you move?
Oh my bad I'm being stupid xD
Man, you’re not alone. I did exactly the same routes, growing up. And I’ve also been to the library on eastwick ave. I used to go do my homework there on the weekends. I now live in Syracuse, and I think of Philly, SEPTA, & cheesesteaks EVERY SINGLE DAY. I miss it so much. Be blessed, sir!
It’s funny, when SePTA upgraded the Talking Bus software on the NABIs, the exterior annunciator stopped working or they disabled it. The trolleys are the only vehicles using the most antiquated version of Talking Bus.
I miss nabi's
Me too
I don't will be glad when the ones GCRTA have will be all gone.
5343 was trying to show off her goods🤣🤣🤣
I miss these and the Neoplan AN460As I can't believe they been gone for 6 years and 9 years for the Neos

I loved every word of what Seantain Jackson said--so much so, that I'll admit to it: it was ME who wrote it LOL :)
I love the nabi buses
Transit Action Series: my hat goes off to you. Please ignore what "tkandme" said. Obviously ,he/she/it has no life to speak of, to start with. Keep up the great work!!!!
GUYS IM GOING TO RIDE THE SEPTA NABI BUS 91
One thing why doesn't American buses have back windows or back destination sign
These buses were just old most American buses didn't start getting rear signs until maybe 1999 which was basically 2 years after the last of these buses were built. Newer ones tend to have rear signs
As for rear windows - they're basically useless on modern buses because when you have standees, you can't see out of it. That's why we have reverse beeps here. So that a bus can reverse and cars know to get out of the blind spots. Some agencies use the rear for ad space, which is why it tends to be flattened out like on these. It's still very possible to get a bus in America with a rear window.

It all depends on how the agency specs them during orders
It isn’t common place in US transit systems; however, SEPTA’s city trolleys and trolley buses have rear windows. We will see if the trams that will replace the trolleys will receive rear windows.

Are these buses still running?
They retired in 2016 sadly.
@@DashTransit Noooooooo!!!!!! I was upset when our agency got rid of them quick back in 2013. They got replaced with 1300 series Gilligs.
