I will admit I did the same thing a lot of people did and assumed it was Kung lao, but once they panned to the actual Kung Lao I was confused then the lightening went off and It all made sense to me, but I think that moment went over most peoples heads.
This is the new timeline created by Fire God Liu Kang after the events of MK11. This is technically MK12 as it continues the story, but starting over as MK1. Also Raiden is confirmed with Kung Lao in the corn field!
I can't wait the trailer of gameplay now, for this video, they used Unreal Engine 5 + Metahuman for this game (instead Unreal Engine 4 for MK11). Some leak show also than Jean Claude Van Dam gonna be the skin of Johhny Cage (It's happen finaly since the first MK1) and some characters of Kombat Pack has been revealed : Homelander & Peacemaker.

well, i liked more when they tried to model Shang Tsung based on the actor playing him in the movie. his face is/was just right for the roll, and his voice and the iconic line was amazing... so that is for me my only soar point....

@@jalenellis3594 That's what I'm thinking but in the story I'm sure LK will give him some or they'll explain it, remember Raiden originally in MK 9 non-canon ending but showed he can do it he split his soul in pieces to be 4 different people to be everywhere at once if needed or multiple places. Liu Kang could do that or give a piece of Raiden's soul back to his now human form to give him powers. The immortality thing probably not but he can definitely get some powers back no doubt. I bet they'll do something like this. Could be, though it does look like Scorpion and Sub-Zero are still rivals but perhaps not enemies? They make it seem like they're different clans but allies again. I'm pretty sure that was Kuai Liang and not Bi Han(some people I've read online are saying it's Bi Han due to no scar but if you look closely there is a smaller scar sideways on the side of his eye to part of his forehead. It's hard to see but it's there.
To be honest, Raiden was always supposed to be an asian character. He was based from Raijin, a Japanese Thunder God. Even his brother Fujin, based from that. Surprised they kept Fujin name instead of rename to idk Fuden maybe just to match Raiden. Is just that they make him look western before this is because of how popular the 1995 movie is
That’s probably Edenia that Kitana and Mileena are at. Keep in mind this is the new world redone by Liu Kang. Chances are in this, Edenia never merged with Outworld.

Raiden will still have lightning powers, but not immortality, and judging from Scorpion, it looks like the Shirai Ryu tragedy never happened.

Yes! The amulet is a nice touch. Definitely gonna take a bit to get used to new Raiden lol but he looks cool!
