This was real gaming right here fuck PS4 and Xbox 1. I'm 33 and I can't believe how far we've come. My daughter laughs at this when I told her this was what I was playing at her age.
Always thought it was a shame that the street gunfight sport never made it into the olympics as more than an exhibition game. Konami had such great production values. They were truly the masters both on NES and SNES, the switch to 3D saw them trying to catch up for years and they never went back to being the dominant devs they were back in the 8 and 16 bits days. For all the emulators i tried throughout the years id' somehow never thought of trying Tack and Field II again. I'd dare say it as almost emotional watching this now like 26 or 27 odd years later. And it's weird how you just suddenly remember stuff you'd thought forgotten. Like "oh yeah that's right you had to ::so and so::!! " Very nice.
I remember when I first saw this, I thought it could easily rival 16-bit visuals. This was before the Jaleco game Astyanax bragged about that in its advertising.
Awe One of my great childhood memories. I miss playing this game and this classic nes game is the foundation for me to enjoy other cool Olympic games I played in further consoles up the road👍🤗👍🍻
This was largely because Konami cartridges had integrated custom sound chips that allowed them to improve upon base nes sound capabilities, esp for drum sounds but also effects. SMB3 nes version did this too to provide near snes sound quality
I always rented this Konami classic back in the day. Konami games always had great graphics, radical 8bit music and awesome gameplay to all there games.
I had this game growing up and after seeing this...I never realized I missed a whole shit ton of events. I didn't even know there was a hand gliding or shooting event that used the zapper. Wow...
Who remembers that sweet spinning kick in Taekwondo that when done at the perfect distance and timing would take away like 75% of your opponents energy?
@@Jussi.Ihander You had to use so little power so that when you threw the hammer, it didn't fly higher than the grass line. If it went even a milimeter into the grey area above the grass line, you were disqualified; but if it stayed in the grass, you'd get 90+ meters.
There was also a glitch in the Horizontal Bar event. When the time is over it shows "Finish" in the skills bar, but not all the time. You can also see that in the video. You could continue to do certain skills as long as you wanted and still earn points. This way you could guarantee that you got a 9.90 every time.
Bah. I remember when us kids needed a handicap, we'd let people use a spoon to mash the buttons faster. Then there's the two-finger-single-button mash technique, which crushes everything.
Now that I look at this, I think Tiny Toon: "Wild and Wacky Sports" for the Super Nintendo took a lot of inspiration from this game(also made by Konami)
Man, rented this a bunch of times back in the day but had COMPLETELY forgot that as an exhibition event in the olympics there is uh..... an event where you shoot down gangsters.....o....k... I don't know how i could have forgot though because as a kid i thought that was some much needed violence in a game that didn't feature any outside of the Taekwondo. I feel like Konami probably had a prototype of a shooting game that never panned out and they decided to include a bit of it in this game since they'd already worked on it.
Never knew about the existance of a sequel First minutes i see this and i already think about the Music from Other Konami Games on NES, and also the plane from Top Gun
I did fine without turbo. Lay the gamepad flat on table, then stiffen the triceps and biceps simultaneous while squeezing the index finger between middle finger and thumb. It makes the index finger vibrate against the button enough to fill the powermeter to the max.
i could never figure out how to do the triple jump. Even after looking it up, to this day i have yet to succesfully complete a single triple jump that qualifies.
Although USSR was a top scoring national team for most of the Olympics, it is still USA that tops it all in video game world. :) They put it in the same place. West Germany is kinda the same. Where is DDR team which was way better?
This game still holds up. Best konami sports game besides blades of steel. Would of loved a NES konami football game, the one they made for for SNES was ok. Now I wanna play this and blades of steel . Both are great to play all the way through
i don't know why, but the male athlete in the press conference at the end reminds me of Clark Kent. Perhaps the committee overlooked the aspect which makes clark a "super" athlete?
Why some of the passwords blanked out with those symbols? I have a bunch of passwords, even one from the final day, last 3 events, I'd be glad to post here......
run as fast as you can, jump at the right time, hold a( or b im not sure) button while landing the change the ankle for the next jump, the press the button again to jump, repeat the ankle shit another 2 times = success.
Connor Gamer You rotate the D-pad as slowly as possible, and when it comes time to throw, you hold onto the throw button and never let off. The hammer won't go far, but the throw will register as 92.04m.
巨美尻女王 (Queen BumBum) But the gun firing event is based on the 1972 Olympics terrorist attack where you play the role of the athlete fighting back the terrorists.
This is a wonderful game, thanks to it I was able to break the world record and run 100m in 9sec.😄 On a real track, I don’t run that fast, only 12sec.)))
I remember there was a trick to the hammer throw, you got the power meter to the O, then I think you launched at an 80-90 degree angle, the hammer only travels a foot or two on screen but the score came up as 89 meters or something like that.
Three? I remember only two, one like in this video, and the other one ending is the male and female athlete got more gold medal so they smile wider :), i do not know there is one another ending.
This was real gaming right here fuck PS4 and Xbox 1. I'm 33 and I can't believe how far we've come. My daughter laughs at this when I told her this was what I was playing at her age.
Frank Matthews Can't beat the classics
You know this is Konami when you hear sound FX from Blades of Steel and Top Gun.
Double Dribble is another 😁
Always thought it was a shame that the street gunfight sport never made it into the olympics as more than an exhibition game.

One of the best looking NES games.
one of the highest graphics on nes!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I remember when I first saw this, I thought it could easily rival 16-bit visuals. This was before the Jaleco game Astyanax bragged about that in its advertising.
Agreed. Very colourful
One of the highest blisters on my thumb.
I like how this game has voice acting even though it's 8-bit
Track & Field 1 and 2 were both great games! The opening ceremonies for T&F2 was REALLY good!
One of my favorite NES games.
Awe One of my great childhood memories. I miss playing this game and this classic nes game is the foundation for me to enjoy other cool Olympic games I played in further consoles up the road👍🤗👍🍻
Konami was just so great at soundtracks, even if your Konami game sucked, you could at least enjoy the music!
This isn't the case
This was largely because Konami cartridges had integrated custom sound chips that allowed them to improve upon base nes sound capabilities, esp for drum sounds but also effects. SMB3 nes version did this too to provide near snes sound quality
Loved this game. Played it with my kids all the time😔
"Foul" always liked that. I would intentionally foul often just to listen to it
The struggle was real if you didn't have a turbo controller.
JWitt30 Lol so true..
It took me a good long while to figure out the triple jump even with a turbo controller.
I guess they were trying to make this game realistic; no ordinary person would stand a chance in the Olympics.
I was feeling the pain 😂😔 in my fingers trying to get the wins
People really should post their videos of these games not using a turbo controller. So we could tell who really is good
I remember looking at Nintendo Power with my friends amazed by the graphics
Some of these events were impossible without the NES Advantage. Great memories!
omg this is bringing back so many great memories for me.
I remember playing this game when I young...I sucked at it :I
I always rented this Konami classic back in the day. Konami games always had great graphics, radical 8bit music and awesome gameplay to all there games.
how did our thumbs and ear canals survive the nes
I had this game growing up and after seeing this...I never realized I missed a whole shit ton of events. I didn't even know there was a hand gliding or shooting event that used the zapper. Wow...
Or the gun shooting part
good opening, good graphic, good ending.
Who remembers that sweet spinning kick in Taekwondo that when done at the perfect distance and timing would take away like 75% of your opponents energy?
There was also another glitch in the hammer throw. Something like, when you screwed up your throw correctly you got like 95 meters
I have done that several times. At first time i just stare tv like moron. I just did not believe what did i see. :D
@@Jussi.Ihander You had to use so little power so that when you threw the hammer, it didn't fly higher than the grass line. If it went even a milimeter into the grey area above the grass line, you were disqualified; but if it stayed in the grass, you'd get 90+ meters.

One of my favorite games. Played this all the time, without the pad controller.
The best game ever. Please bring back a worthy nintendo
Bah. I remember when us kids needed a handicap, we'd let people use a spoon to mash the buttons faster. Then there's the two-finger-single-button mash technique, which crushes everything.
We did use lego brigs. :D
This game was sweet for it's time!!
Konami...even if many dropped you you will have my eternal gratitude for this and many other gems.
Hahahahahaa!!! We couldn't live without that turbo
Now that I look at this, I think Tiny Toon: "Wild and Wacky Sports" for the Super Nintendo took a lot of inspiration from this game(also made by Konami)
Backsound like a destroyer bomb 😁
i didn't know this game. it's so well done and complex for a NES game...
Great memories from my childhood .
Man, rented this a bunch of times back in the day but had COMPLETELY forgot that as an exhibition event in the olympics there is uh..... an event where you shoot down gangsters.....o....k... I always liked this one!
Another quality Konami title, these guys put out gold on the NES
Never knew about the existance of a sequel
First minutes i see this and i already think about the Music from Other Konami Games on NES, and also the plane from Top Gun
OMG compared to the first one this one looks like wooow.. never played the second, but I had the first one as a child.
If you didn't have a turbo controller this game was pointless!
+Mike Mills HAHA totally true. Especially the Hurdles. Such a scam unless you have turbo.
I did fine without turbo. Lay the gamepad flat on table, then stiffen the triceps and biceps simultaneous while squeezing the index finger between middle finger and thumb. It makes the index finger vibrate against the button enough to fill the powermeter to the max.

no. but the Gun Firing event permitted the use of the Zapper gun.
U def needed the Nes Advantage for this game
i don't know why, but the male athlete in the press conference at the end reminds me of Clark Kent. Perhaps the committee overlooked the aspect which makes clark a "super" athlete?
Welcome Aboard KONAMI Airlines
I remember doing a jumping spin kick to the other guys nads took off about 80% of their health in taekwando
I thought this thing wasn't exist in my childhood.
The soundtrack didn’t need to go this hard but it did
Disqualified! 😂😂 hated hearing that as a kid! 😂😂😂
"Foul" as well
A. Parker looks like a wild one.
nope. the only non-controller peripheral you could use was the Zapper for the Gun Firing exhibition event
Konami made some great NES games.
I played this game a lot, especially after I got the Turbo Touch 360.
This game is so much easier to play with the NES Advantage Joystick.
Fiora champion spotlight
Nes has only 5 voices, but this is amazing!
B. Wells played by Willem Dafoe
Wtf... there is a gun firing event in this??? I never could get far in this game. I was a kid and it was way too hard!
This game was impossible!
Why some of the passwords blanked out with those symbols? I have a bunch of passwords, even one from the final day, last 3 events, I'd be glad to post here......
"DISQUALIFY"
Haven't played this one in ages; it worked with the track pad right?
10:01 DIS-QUALIFIED.
18 suspended Russian athletes dont like this game.
run as fast as you can, jump at the right time, hold a( or b im not sure) button while landing the change the ankle for the next jump, the press the button again to jump, repeat the ankle shit another 2 times = success.
This was fun.
hammer throw...because my thumb knows why...
STOP! ... HAMMER THROW!
+Adnan Cusic this is where a joystick like the NES Advantage played a crucial role in this event
I think Konami left the hammer throw glitch in intentionally because of it...
GOFLuvr what glitch?
Connor Gamer You rotate the D-pad as slowly as possible, and when it comes time to throw, you hold onto the throw button and never let off. The hammer won't go far, but the throw will register as 92.04m.
4:22 disqualified! XD
you didn't need a special controller, I used a pen or battery and ran it over tha buttons vigorously.
+Marcellus Sims haha me 2
A penny always worked well!
A tiny bit of scotch tape rolled around your index or middle finger did the trick.
Am I the only person that sang 0:05-0:18 as "Track and Field 2, Track and Filed 2"
I think so.. but it totally fits.
~JagOfTroy
The kind of game my father used to play with me back in the 80's
West Germany, when the Land was still divided ome year before Unification.
Só joguei o primeiro, mas o 2, pelo que vi, ficou melhor.

Bikkuri Nekketsu Shin Kiroku! - Harukanaru Kin Medal aka Crash 'n the Boys - Street Challenge best оlympic game ever.
This game was actually based on the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. Incredible game for its time!
巨美尻女王 (Queen BumBum)
But the gun firing event is based on the 1972 Olympics terrorist attack where you play the role of the athlete fighting back the terrorists.
Lmao.... Fuckin awesome attempt 2nd time hand gliding
This is a wonderful game, thanks to it I was able to break the world record and run 100m in 9sec.😄 On a real track, I don’t run that fast, only 12sec.)))

Good graphics for a NES game

Super jeu. Allez la France.
i discover recently that this game has 3 different ending
@
Three? I remember only two, one like in this video, and the other one ending is the male and female athlete got more gold medal so they smile wider :), i do not know there is one another ending.
