I have a vinyl recording from the 1980's of Dokshizer playing this piece accompanied by the Moscow Chamber Orchestra. It was also a terrific performance which I first heard on WNCN, then a classical music station in NYC. The announcer liked it so much he played it twice.
As I was listening to this the other night, my wife, who hadn't heard it before, pointed out that the middle movement Is Deutschland Uber Alles put into 6/8 and pulled about a bit. In 30 years, this had never occurred to me.
Other way around. Haydn wrote the trumpet concerto a year before he wrote "God Save the Kaiser." The next century, Hoffmann wrote the "Deutschland Uber Alles" lyrics to the melody of the latter.
Yeah I only got a 92 on this solo during my All County audition, wasn't my best work but still got a high seating despite being first chair in Area All state
Bravo.... It is a long tima ago I played it too... I tried it today without practizing ... OMG :) The end screen with further music is shown too early. So the end part is not possible to play, if you don't have the sheet in paper.

Do most trumpet players play the Haydn on a Bb trumpet. Didn't Wynton play it on a A trumpet ? Would it be any easier on a A trumpet being that the lead pipe is shorter ?

When this was preformed was it with a Bb trumpet or a Eb trumpet
It was performed with a Bb trumpet. Timofei Dokshizer almost always used the B flat trumpet)

しかも超一流の声楽家に負けないような歌心ある演奏は、現代のトランペット奏者では聴けません。ハイドンの第２楽章をドクシツェルのように朗々と歌えるトランペット奏者が、もしいたなら教えてください。ドクシツェルは単なるトランペット奏者ではなく、真の芸術家です。
