      The problem would by the crank. If it's not forged from the factory, or no factory v12 crank that can swap, good luck. Pistons and rods is easy. But some guy made a 1300hp m70 so if he can find and source the same parts he did, he would be golden

    M73 with tune and exhaust makes 315whp through the auto. 20 percent drivetrain loss. If you do the math, that's 400 crank. Do an m70b54 hybrid- m70 heads, m73 bottom end, and retain m70 electronics and management. There's a write-up by wokke on bfc, who also makes chip tunes for such an m70b54. This is not electronically involved like a full m70 to m73 swap, which will likely need a full donor car for computers and harnesses. M70 DMEs are more widely accessible and more open to modification than m73 DMEs as well.

    Cool car, I know what that rattling was. The trim under the wipers in the center where it connects can flap at high speeds. My E34 does that on the Highway sometimes in crosswinds , I think. I love the E34 content, esp when you guys show the M5s. Eventually, I want to swap my 93 525iAs M50 for an S54 and manual trans ,but it still runs so good even with the GM automatic trans, which I recently , pan dropped and filter changed to Redline synthetic , it even shifts flawlessly @ 254K. It are only 540 Nm, but that makes fun. Of course, modern engines have much more torque, but they have mostly a turbo or compressor. For my opinion are the not charged motors the real ones, just injection or carburetor.

    First of all, respect for your E34 V12 conversion. another thing to mention, your engine compartment will get too hot. You should attach vents to your hood so that the heat can escape. PS: a hot engine cannot fully bring the engine performance. higher consumption and can damage the mechanical components.

    Hi here is a cliche " I know a guy " , he is a maestro chef and has created the perfect recipe. He is a ex Formula One and IMSA engineer .This guy really knows how to solve issues. Add a fantastic builder to cook our recipe and you will end up with a Michelin star cook. Both of these guys where building race engines before most of us were but a mere sperm in mummies eye. The problem with m73 is poor heads with roller cams and very limited lift possible with the cams , other is exhaust ports.these ports normally limit how much power is possible unless of course you add some hairdryers for boost. Yes there a many who have created some awesomely powerful meals this way. Alas for abosolute taste I believe you would end up with a meal that is overcooked . These ports are difficult to get right and involves a little pre cad design black magic. There is a solution use m70 heads with some black magic on the exhaust ports ( most people try wrong shape and eat into water jacket ) . Now lots of lift available and ports that can flow for high power instead of limo torque. Without getting the exhaust ports right no amount of cams, bigger valves, throttle bodies etc will make much difference. The m73 heads will never be able to have enough lift and rev hard enough for a really good feast.
    Changing the heads is essential.
    Now when putting your meal together you will be required to add some nice rods, better valve springs , retainers etc. You know the usual herbs and spices.
    Before you really start to get it hot add some nice pipes designed for the actual cam timing
    With proper magic sauce on the cam timing and adding 12 servings of throttle bodies , you should be able to make this meal have all the high notes and powerful flavours that the Italian chefs do so well.
    Seriously don't put all of this in too big of a plate. A E34 should have the perfect size for the job.
    When cooked serve immediately .
    Warning ; this recipe will require specialist chefs to achieve the full 8000rpm with over 550 Clydesdales and hand of God push in your back.
    I loved my E32 750il . Okay only 300 horses but these are full bodied Clydesdales not whimpy thoroughbreds. 100 kmh to 160 very impressive. Now take away 400 kgs add a bigger capacity, high compression, lots of revs and steroids. Turn it up to basically twice the power to weight ratio ( E32 to E34 with crap removed) and of course a manual . I like a good firm ass that doesn't wobble so substitution with a E39 wagon rear might help with emulsification.
    This makes a full bodied meal that will have you salivating at every opportunity. A great chef can create a masterpiece out of materials that others just make a meal. The average Dinan or whatever big dollar restaurant will leave you wanting for more flavour and robustness. And then of course when you ask for the cheque there will be a long lasting bitter aftertaste.
    The Chefs are slowly cooking and will serve in good time.
    In answer to obvious questions . This is a closed kitchen at present . Customer engines will be available when the chefs have served. The recipe is the IP of the chefs.

      I'm not totally sure what I just read, but I greatly enjoyed it. I think the next iteration will be just a basic M73 with custom headers. I have a low mile regasketed m73 sitting on a stand right now, but 8000 rpm and 500+hp sounds like blast. Maybe I'll start building another one over the next couple years, doesn't sound cheap to achieve.

    Stupid clean body on that thing Chris! Yes, the m73 will definitely run on the obd1 DME, and its great this way to get around the emissions B.S. I couldn't imagine how much a set of Shricks would cost for that engine. Probably a small fortune. It sounds great too. S85 in and e34 m5 will be the end all be all e34. I too have a huge thing for the e34. I've owned 5 of them, and would have more if I could afford to build them all like I wanted to. Korman was one of the original BMW tuners back in the day. I'm sure they did a great job with the swap and didn't cut corners. Thanks for sharing this dude!

    • @DENVERBEERANDOIL
      @DENVERBEERANDOIL  3 года назад

      M70 twin turbo, 😆.....I would take an m30 turbo for power and reliability. M70 for cool factor and highway cruising.

    • @CP-dp3xe
      @CP-dp3xe 3 года назад

      @@DENVERBEERANDOIL yea that's the problem. I'm after all of those except highway cruising (dosent effect me) I was going to do a NA m30 but it's alot of money and would be a highly stressed engine to get a similar output to a stock m70. Turbo will always win power wise, but I just don't like the sound and it's been done a million times. The cars an e28. What do you reckon boys ...
