Nice video! Being a new subscriber I'm slowly making my way through your content and a got to say I love how you get everyone involved. It's really nice to see a family enjoying something together. Top Dad 👍🏻
I was kind of suprised that it didn't go faster, but changing to a brush less set up is still a good idea. Those brushed motors seemed to go out fairly quickly, the brushless set ups do seem to last longer.
Exactly! Honestly, I am not 100% sorry that it is not faster. It would have been cool to show "wow, it goes 60mph!!!"....but the car would have been miserable to drive. Very glad it worked out like it did!
The speed is great for the scale. Also, things start to break and it can get annoying. Great upgrade. Hope there has been more through the years 🤙🏿 keep the hobby alive.
My friend you have the same taste in RC cars as me. Every time I need info on my cars I find it on your channel. Thank you for your help and the great content
Hello from Russia and thank you for video. I have Rally and Teton, trying to make them brushless. Main problem is motor mounting holes. GoolRC motor has M2.5 holes and they are 16mm away from each other. Stock brushed motor has M3 holes and they are on 17mm distance. Looks like I have to drill/oval holes in motor plate. You didn't said anything about it. Did your new motor fits 1:1? I've bought 2430 motor, but it's on the way to me from China.
Yeah. I have the TETON brushed and didn't realize how quick it is until I put 2s. This car doesn't really need to be any faster. Not even sure how well it will handle much faster.
Wow - that will have a lot of torque. Will certainly need some crazy gearing to take advantage of it. Any tips on getting this thing to actually handle decent?
I got that same motor escin my rally with a 20t pinion and a 10thscale servo where the receiver is and I moved that receiver behind the servo, added a little weight to the right side to balance it out and now it drifts pretty good in the garage lol
We just put the same system in a friend's Teton today but haven't had a chance to test it yet. Yours seems more punchy even if top speed is no higher. My Teton is geared up with hobbywing brushless and it's significantly quicker, but my GPS hasn't arrived yet to be able to put a figure on it.
@@RoadsideRC I got the quicrun 2435 motor, 4500kv and quicrun 16bl30 esc. It pops wheelies with the high speed gears fitted! It is slightly bigger than your set up but fits fine.
I have a Traxxas slash 1/10 with a vennolin(sorry for spelling error) setup. I'd love to see an overhaul tutorial of how to put that setup in a 1/18 car.
If you want more speed with the same motor you got then just get a esc that handles 3s lipo, mine probably does around 30 or 35 mph on 3s and around max speed 25 mph on 2s lipo 35c and you can get the full bearing kit also that helps to achieve your speed limit, my system is from a 1/16th losi short course but did get the hobby park 2435 (4800kv) for my second rally just to have one specifically for 2s and one for 3s
I didn't even notice the channel name until the video started. Of course you'd be the first video that would pop up lol! Very cool dude, I'm leaning heavily toward this car, but I'd love to chew your ear sometime about it.
I did this upgrade. The duo was solid for me but the esc has its flaws. Bad low speed control and no variable braking. All or nothing. I put in a hobbywing 16bl30 esc and it made a world of difference. The same motor worked just fine. It ran a little hot but it made my teton really move one 2S. This is good for the price but i wouldve saved up for a hobbywing esc and 2445 motor off of aliexpress or ebay
That brushed motor has about/around 4800kv so the brushless 4800kv will be around the same speed. The brushless will definitely be more efficient as far as battery but if more speed is desired you need a 5800kv or higher. Nice video.
Great video! Couldn't tell what battery you chose. Can make a huge difference also. I used nano tech lipo on my losi micro, was like giving it steroids lol. Will go back to this video when I do my brushless conversion 👍
What is the battery size you are running? I’m about to switch mine over to brushless but am worried about buying a battery that’s too large to fit in it. Thank you for your video and answer.
Hi there! This is an older video, so unfortunately I don't remember what battery I used. Here is how I go about picking a battery for a car. It should help you. ruclips.net/video/TXZkRZKNHjs/видео.html
He’s well on his way to a 1/10 scale....that’s where the real consistent chassis start. I have a few students with mini-z, and even with higher quality upgraded parts, they just don’t drive consistently. Happy 4th!
Love the vid did you need a memory card for this setup I just put mine in my mini t 2.0 and everything is backwards such as stearing throttle ect any help would be appreciated thanks
If throttle is backwards, and it is actually faster in reverse - then swap two of the motor wires. Fixed! If steering is reversed, there is a switch on the controller to reverse the steering inputs. Fixed!
I was actually already running a lipo before I did the brushless swap - just had to be careful since the stock ESC didn't have a low voltage cutoff. Yes - I have more $$$ in upgrades on this car than it was worth originally.
** If you do this you need to get the metal diff gear kits and output gear kits. Two different kits are required to get all metal diffs. You might as well do metal axles and a ball bearing kit while you're at it. **
One guy on youtube had rhe same .otor and escand his was hooked up same as yours same colors matched up and itvwas running in reverse he had to switch red to peach color to red to blue peach to blue and he picked up like 8 or 10 mph because motor was running in reverse
Doesn't the Rally come with hard, more drift oriented tires? That could well explain it being a handful trying to do a speed run in the wet. 😉. I have the Prerunner version and picked up an unpainted Rally body and I'm hoping the Prerunner wheels will go under the Rally body without having to butcher the wheel wells too badly because I really don't want to fool with those Goofy little wheels/tires the Rally is sold with. Speaking of wheels and tires though, anyone know of any alternatives to stock? I haven't removed a wheel yet, but the guy in the shop said they're an oddball size of her drive.
The stock rally tires are slicks, but actually a rather soft compound. I believe most of this is attributed to the limited suspension design from the factory. Throwing on some better shocks would probably help a lot! So far, I have found zero alternatives to the stock wheels. Boo...
Very nice video. Are you still happy with that motor/ESC set up? Has it held up? And I was wondering, did you purchase a GoolRC Programming Card to tune the ESC any different? I think there's different power and breaking modes available...otherwise it comes preset at 'medium' or something like that. I just burnt out the brushed motor on my Teton, so looking at my options. Thanks!
Thanks! I honestly never used it much more after the brushless upgrade. I ended up shredding diff gears (Rally comes with plastic gears), and then started to run my larger vehicles more. Still - it appeared strong, and I have no doubts that the new owner is still enjoying it.
I know why you’re motor kept getting hot. It’s because you probably changed your pending gear and spar gear but if not, you’re just flooring it all the time.

EXACTLY! The suspension is not good enough to handle more power.
Definately good upgrade! I did mine with dual brushless motor ..haha I will be uploading vid soon! Waiting for my gearing arrive. 24t 50t let's go!!
