  • This was my first time going to Singapore not knowing too much about the country and I was pleasantly surprised and amazed by the architeture and design of the city! It was beautifully and efficiently interwoven with highways roads and subway lines and stations and was jam packed full of malls and shopping. This was a great experience and would love to return someday!

    Foreigners don't know that Singapore was part of Malaysia for less than two years (September 1963 to August 1965). It was Singapore, then a self-ruling state, chose to merge with Malaysia.

    You had a piece of lean pork at 10:57. Not much flavour in that but non-offensive so those who are squeamish about innards can start with a bowl of lean pork soup. The soup has tofu these days. It used to be cubes of coagulated pig blood but that got banned in Singapore in the 80s so tofu was used as a substitute.

    As a local, am never a fan of chicken feet though it's full of collagen. Tried once during my school trip to Perth Australia. My teacher made me ate. I loke pig's organ soup though i dont eat internal organs, just the tofu, salted veg and lean meats with rice and chili sauce.

    Both your soup dishes are 100% Chinese food. If you like to know if a stall sells Chinese, Muslim, or Indian food, the person behind the food stall can be the answer to your question. Chinese food is served by Chinese at a stall. Likewise, for muslim/ malay food, they are served by muslims, and indians will serve indian food. It's unlikely to find a Chinese person behind a food stall selling you Indian food. Also, you do not find a Muslim person at a stall selling you Chinese food.

    10:30 - The soup is available in China... But may be different from those in Singapore. Or simply, each have their own localized version of the soup. The Uncle in Red us trying to be polite and not shock you too much about the Organs inside the soup... angmor (westerner) aren't known to like this kind of meat.
    And myself... I love chicken feet... The soup I make at home, definitely will have chicken feet.
    PS... Chinese Soups are meant to be 'light'... Not thick and overwhelming with favour... While we do have soups like these, Shark Fin Soup comes to mind... But the majority of the soups are light in favour.

    • @aaronaround
      @aaronaround  7 месяцев назад

    If you like chicken feet, any place selling "tim sum" should have a chicken feet dish that has been marinated and tastes much better than the soup version. Go to Chinatown Complex where they sell meat dumplings, xiao long pau (soup dumplings) and tasty chicken feet.

    • @aaronaround
