I applied for a job that paid $72k (so not high earning but above average) and the manager told me 300 people had applied. It's brutal out there trying to get a job.
Job growth in the government sector which is a net drain on the economy. 45k jobs in the government sector, this is a terrible jobs report. The canadian economy is in seriously trouble.
Most of the people of Canada live in Ontario and most job gains are somewhere else (46000 Jobs in Alberta and Quebec out of 51500). Something is terribly wrong going on here for sure.
Can you breakdown the numbers between Canadians vs new arrivals? Canadians did not wake up and start looking for job. More student visa holders are looking for work to get work permit, so that they can apply for permanent residency and secure their stay in Canada. I know including myself there are many Canadians looking for jobs for months. Every businesses are now employing more and more new immigrants and have been shedding Canadian employees.
This is atleast not true at the company that i work at. There are three workers from the phillipines at my job who are all being sent back in the next year
Explain me one thing. Consider the number of people entering Canada (temporary and permanent) as they are all eligible to work, and number of net jobs added. How does the unemployment rate is hovering around 6.x%? Who are they fooling? Or is this number is only among new immigrants? StatsCan have admitted that they lost count of people in Canada.
I know several people, older and younger looking for work and finding nothing. My daughter is in the trades, many on the out of work list for over 8 months, not 1 call. She does renos and cant find anyone hiring there either. Weve had several different trades into our home to do work, and many of their contacts or friends in trades, are slow too.
These numbers would be more meaningful if they included the number of Canadians who are retiring. The peak of the baby boom was 1961 and those people are now 63 - the retirement boom should be sucking young people into the workforce. Why isn't it?
What are these jobs I just got my diploma but there always asking for at least 2 years exp and not even a chance to get that expierence in the first place Im on LinkedIn and Im competing aganst 100 applicants and who knows how many jobs I tried at job bank this is all in network systems btw which said back in the day statistics has a 98% employment even if that dropped 10% how is it after 10 months and no luck
I run a manufacturing shop of 180 employees in ontario. We are not hiring right now, and I do not foresee hiring for at least 6 months, even with 3 people expecting to retire.
Younger educated Canadians and those with ambition would leave canada ASAP i would think with Canada being such a restrictive and indepted country with such a weak dollar and third world economy.

Unemployment might be even higher after Christmas seasonal jobs are finished.

This country was built upon immigrants, go and work hard

Thats absolutely brutal!!! i hope it gets better soon!
I’m employed but my wage will be flat this year. No pay raise or bonus.
you got essentially got a pay cut then. Hopefully things get better
When all organizations outsource all their jobs to other countries to save cost and stay competitive, that leaves all Canadians with no jobs

Nearly half of new jobs being created are due to public sector spending, paid for by tax dollars. Which is actually bad news.
Most Canadians are starving. Canada is going downhill quick.

As always, thank you for the update. Much appreciated ❤🎉😊
Thanks as always Marc! Cheers.
Thank you Marc.
How about millions and billions going outside of Canada with no investments into Canada.
Are they trying to match unemployment number equal to maximum inflation number.
How much of those jobs where from the public sector?
i find you to be a very happily optimistic person in spite of the numbers... bless you ;)
How many jobs are federal government jobs ?
We shouldn’t cut at all or inflation is going to make a loaf of bread cost $8. I don’t think many Canadians understand this
We are in a recession.
We need an election as soon as possible to save our country.
50,000 government jobs. The economy is so weak in Canada.
What is your take on the Canadian economy outlook for the next years considering Trump's presidency?
Under trudeau? Bleak.
Is Canada comparable to Louisiana or Kentucky ... Trump 😂
Younger educated Canadians and those with ambition would leave canada ASAP i would think with Canada being such a restrictive and indepted country with such a weak dollar and third world economy.
And such a poor, corrupt and dishonest leadership.
