These are one of my favorite trams from my city, here are some facts about Tatras from Zagreb We use the 1000mm gauge, Zagreb bought the first few tram types in 1968, and them more in 1976, so the city had around 120 Tatra trams in our fleet. Today there is only around 60 of them, because they were replaced with the new TMK2200 model. In the old days you could sometimes ride the tram even with the three car variant, today we only use with two cars. Hope you enjoyed the city Dani, Zagreb has a big tram network!
Hello, yes i enjoyed Zagreb, also the city and the vino-markets :-) Nice landscape in the north and some fine restaurants :-)! I was there in 2011 and would come back!
Dieser Film ist ein wertvolles Zeitdokument, man weiss ja nie, wie lange solche Bilder sich auch in Zukunft noch filmen lassen. Die Anfangssequenz mit dem Viadukt ist Klasse! :)
Oh, our Tatras! First ČKD T4YU trams (here commonly called „The Czechs“; all tram types have nicknames in Zagreb, for example Type 200 is "Bull", KT4 is "Katica", Duewag GT-6 is "Genscher" etc.) came to Zagreb in 1977. They were colored in beautiful cream-blue livery, which was official ZET livery then, much nicer in my opinion than this all-blue color today. On the front side of the motor-car they had so called yellow „mustaches“; that was marking them as vehicles that cannot pass another streetcar in some short radius double curves in the city. They looked great. And there were conductors selling tickets in both cars; the conductors were in their separated cubicles near the rear doors of the cars. These trams were bought especially because the Zagreb tram network was these days spreading in the southern parts of the city, across the New Zagreb, and the line to Sopot was the first part of that line. There was a long line formed out of T4YU+B4YU trams on November 26th 1979 when the line to New Zagreb (from Dubrava Depot to Sopot) was ceremoniously opened, with live folk music and lokal folk dancers cheerfully dancing in the tramcar! The line was opened with Tatras as a present for the people of Zagreb with regard to the (former) Republic Day, which was three days later, but festivities always took part few days before the actual holidays. As a kid, my grandmother took me to this festivity, and it was a really big deal for me. I always think of that happy childhood days when I see our old „Czechs“… They always come in pairs (T4+B4) except on the uphill line 15, operated by T4 Solo (I can see you like line 15, you dedicated a lot of time in your video to that particular line) .. Old Czechs have great big windows (that's nice during the summer), the best seat heating system, and they never got displays: they have old destination panels on side windows, and a line number without the destination mark in the box above the front windshield, a relic of the past times… I'm sorry to see them dissapearing slowly from the streets of our city, and what makes me really sad is that some people vandalized those trams on the inside (especially the B4 trailers) with some ugly graffiti. Thank you for another beautiful video, Daniel. Wunderschön!
Thanks a lot for your words and special for history! Its interesting to rad something about! :-) After my visit in 2011, it was a dream to come back! The T4YU are great vehicles and i like them very much! So i was happy for T4YU all days at line 15, so i remember my first visit...there was KT4YU at line 15, but also very nice. I read, that lowfloor will be running there after finishing of cableway at Dolje? Yes, i spend some time at 15...in city was sometimes long waiting for next Tatra at line 6, 7 or 4. And at 15 i know, that in some minutes next vehicle is comming. So i spend my time 2x each point. My mainwork is photography at my trips...to make videos is only enyoj by the way :-) Best reagrds to Zagreb my friend end have fun with your T4YU! :-)
I just solved a major mistery, I grew-up in Belgrade in the 1980s and then I moved abroad coming back from time to time,. But it was definitelly those years I lived there in the 1980s as a child that made me pay much atention and use the trams. Fortunatelly, I live right on one of the boulevards making the so called "Krug dvojke" (the round of tram n2) a term refered to describe the strict cityt center. Snobbish people would often use the epresion if you are from the inside of the round of tram 2 or not. Anyway, right at the entrance of my building, there was a tram stop, and three lines stopped there, 2, 5 and 7. So, as a chid, I would use tram with my friends almost everyday to move around the city (at that time no one paid tickets. Since I was a transportation passionate ever since a child (kidds would play with H-Mans while I would grab some map and drow the new highways and railroads that should be built) same was with trams, I loved them. I even often tought how being a tram driver must be really a cool job while being so litlle appreciated, In Belgrade during 1980s I remember seing all sort of people being drivers, from regular folks, to even woman, or even crazy punckers with their headphones screaming trash metal and drving like crazy lunatics. Generally, trams were driven quite fast and it was not rare at all to feel pure adrenaline by being in a Belgrade 1908s tram running as crazy trough boulevars. However, despite enjoying a lot watching the tram videos from Belgrade, there was something strange I couldn´t figure out!!! Yes, it was Belgrade, it was KT trams... many repainted, OK, but that wsn´t the problem. I watched the videos and that wasn´t really the behavior, sound and exact look of the trams I used to ride as a child in 1980s Belgrade, Now that I watched this Zagreb video IT ALL BECAME CLEAR! Its them!!!! Its this KT trams from this Zagreb video! Its that speed, that sound and that look! The only difference is that in Belgrade they were red and white. I went on to find information, and it is all explained now. I ridded those trams in Belgrade in my youth in the 1980s because they were the T4YU models made specially for Yugoslavia and distinct from all others, and they were delivered in Belgrade where they were used during the 1970s and 1980s. Now I read that since 1976 Zagreb started buying all these T4YU models which they still use today, while in my city Belgrade they were used until 1991 and the sold and replaced by other models. Why they did this is my major enigma? This T4YU trams are visibly so good in accelerating and going fast. One inside feels the tram so loose, while the others Belgrade has brought after them are clearly so heavy. The T4YU in comparison look like sliding on the rails. I apologise for my long story, but I wanted to share an enigma I had why the trams from Belgrade from my childhood despite very similar, were same time so different. Now I know the answer, the Tatra trams in today Belgrade are not the ones I used as a child, those are these ones in Zagreb which still look so amaising and run fast and furious! Long live T4YU!!!!!

Interresting and perfectly edited video again. I was in Zagreb last summer and I was very sad that after my traveling from CZ, T4 and B4 rode only on line 15. They weren't on the other lines. Supposedly beacuse they haven't air-condition, so they were replaced by new TMK 2200. But in these new vehicles was the traveling hell. Air-condition barely worked, temperature inside was almost the same like outside (sometimes even higher than outside) and passangers couldn't open the windows. But T4 and B4 has big windows which make better air in the vehicle. Even better the air was in KT4 becasue they have these windows bigger. Thanks god that in summer KT4 were in service too. I am producing my video with my Zagreb shots and I would like to use one door closing which you have on 28:54. Can I borrow this shot ? :) Thanks for the answer and keep your videos still in high quality like in these days.

Hello, there is a reduced timetable in Zagreb during the summer holidays because there are fewer passengers and students. This is normal in many European cities. That is why it is never a good idea to visit a city in the summer holidays where there are only a few old trams left.
