Beautiful job, well done. Wondering about compacting and using paver sand over stone base. Not questioning your method , just looking for your take on it.
@@michaelszczoczarz5776 Thank you! So if you use Open Grade base like I have here, You can't use sand for bedding material because it will migrate into the clean stone base, causing the pavers to sink... That's why I use the 3/8" clean crushed stone for bedding material, that does not migrate into the base stone. Here is a video I made which explains the base prep method I use in a lot more detail 👉ruclips.net/video/ChaJe3JqD6I/видео.html
Ricky was good help, for this age mostly playing PS5 or at phone. Good for him learning something for his future. Most Hispanic people learning early age and now a good Handyman. Goo job guys🎉❤
Amazing work and so detailed and great help for my own project to do. Also I love the way you taking care about your nephew, giving more supports, engorging him and not only that talking about the reality of life with family how to bring them up too. Love your style and you will be great father in the future👍
Thank you, I'm glad the video was helpful. I love my nephew and am very proud of him. It is important to show that to children, it gives them confidence and peace of mind to feel comfortable around you. I try to be real with everyone in my life, I love my family. ✌
I just happen to come across this video because I was getting ideas on how I should I redo my 9 steps along my house. But what I really like about your video is that not only it's informative but I like how you also talk about your life when you were little and how you see your life differently since you have a nephew. Thank you for sharing your life and your work! ❤
I am glad you enjoyed the video! I try to share as much info as I can about the projects I do and sharing some personal things here and there just adds to the points I try to make. Thanks for the support! ✌
THIS VIDEO IS AWESOME! Perfect example of how I can tackle a walkway with steps from the sidewalk to my front door here in CA. Thanks for the effort and info. I'm sure a million people have told you your resemblance to Ben Affleck. God is Good!
I've watched a lot of videos on laying down pavers & this guy has the best knowledge on step by step for laying down pavers. Wish the best to his family company. 🙌✌️
Best paver video I’ve ever seen! Watched this video 7 times focusing on different areas and it makes sense now how things are done. Your dictation of every part of the job is excellent to get an understanding, such as why you use certain materials. Like the way you chisel off the caps on the steps to give a rough look. I have to do a small 9x8 paver patio so this helps tremendously.
I love this Video because of how your teaching Trav. Awesome!!!! Its great seeing the youth involved with projects like this. My Dad and I would do the same. Great job Trav !! you set a great example for your peers!! Keep up the Great work ethics and motivation!
Glad you enjoyed it, He is a great kid with a lot of potential for whatever he wants to do. If I can teach him some hard work along the way, I'm happy to do so! Thanks for the feedback ✌
Yea it does. I think the customers realized they just had to do it after they seen the patio area. Those pavers leading to the old concrete walkway just really took away from the look, I'm glad they pulled the trigger on extending it to the driveway! ✌
Beautiful work - it looks so great - you are an artist! Thanks for the video, I learned so much, and kudos to you for being such a good Dad, involving your boys in your work, and sticking with them since you were 15, not too many men do that anymore. Very impressive!
Found your channel, surfing RUclips, looking to learn how to design and install a paver patio for my home. The name of your channel drew me in and I am very thankful for the time and effort you put in for this video. Thank you and I am looking forward to seeing your other videos to learn, as hardscapes are not in my area of expertise.
Great work, it's snowing here in Rowley Ma, today I cant wait to start my friends walkway once the weather breaks It's just me a pick a shovel and the rest of my tools Old school but with your tested and true system thx for the vids.
Yes sir, just got home from plowing this sloppy mess… Nothing wrong with building a walkway with hand tools! I think you will really like the system I use, good luck man! ✌🏻
So glad you said that you lay the blocks randomly in this video. I have been pausing your videos, trying to find the pattern and not able to lol. Looks great.
Thanks for providing an explanation as to why you do things. You're video taught me a lot and I know how labour intensive editing videos can be on top of the hard work you do. Thanks again, your efforts are extremely appreciated!
No problem at all. Thanks for the feedback and I’m glad the video was helpful! I really enjoy the work I do and am starting to really enjoy video editing as well. God Bless ✌🏻
Thank you, I always tell my customers that. This type of work always adds value to the property, It's like putting your money into a savings account. If they ever sell or take out an equity loan, they will be able to sell it for way more or take out a larger loan .... either way, it adds value for sure! ✌
I love your videos, brother! I just installed a cement block patio in my back yard, and I used your method. (1 1/4" steel pipes for screeding and 3/8" stone base). It came out great. Kicked my ass but came out great. Thank you for posting these, they're a huge help. Also, you and your crew are good people. Bless you.
Great looking job. I know it's been a while but it's new to me and it's perfect for giving me a good idea of how to tackle my own patio project. Thank you!
Well I asked for help in a previous video but I did what u said that to go look at your other videos and u answered it so sorry for that but you earned a Subscriber lol, love what u do and I’m learning a lot from at the age of 60,
Good video. I'm planning on laying some paving round a swimming pool. Usually I've seen people lay down plastic sheeting to prevent weeds from shooting through, then a layer of sand, then the bricks. First time I've seen the bricks laid on gravel .. but it would make a lot of sense round a swimming pool wrt water spillage etc.
Thank you, this backfill method is excellent for around a pool. Here is a link to another video I made which explains the base prep method in much more detail 👉ruclips.net/video/ChaJe3JqD6I/видео.html
Great work. It looks amazing. This is almost exactly like what I’m about to do at my house but I’m using smooth face pavers with textured face edge accent pavers. For the treads I’m using cmu blocks and I’m going to put veneer on the face to match the veneer I have on the house. Manufactured stone veneer.
Great job on those steps - you guys bust your butts getting those old slabs out - and used some serious to 3:05 doing so. Your nephew was a good young helper!
You do great work.i ran a concrete saw most of my life and on the asphalt cutting dont saw up and down.let it get down to grade then let the saw walk itself forward like a table saw and youll get a cleaner cut
Thank you, I hear you about going down hill. Definitely easier for a nice cut, but i didn't want to spit a bunch of paste at the house in this particular situation. ✌
Thank you, I always try to keep things as simple as possible. The water will have plenty of drainage stone to permeate into the ground with no maintenance of a buried pipe. ✌
@@TheChristianHardscaper I really questioned that approach. I would thought it would have been so easy to run it under and onto the yard. Just seems like a lost opportunity to keep water away from the foundation. You were right there. However great job and I still learned new techniques.
I wish I can find the paving contractor like you in Wasaga Beach, ON Canada. I want to have similar design like you were working on the steps, walkway and patio area. I love to watch your quality work.
Thank you, so the downspout always drained there previously and was never an issue. Just like any downspout, it drains by permeating into the soil directly under it. So now with having put 2 cubic yards of 3/4" clean crushed stone under it and under the pavers / steps, it will drain / permeate even better into the sub soil. There won't ever be drainage issues in that corner. ✌
Hey TCL and Benny, Thanks for all the helpful content. It must take a tonne of time and energy, so thanks! I have a similar situation with some slight differences than your video. Measuring the existing and then to the finish product is my problem. Q?: Maybe you could do a video on how to measure for the steps. How do you take into consideration the thickness of the stone and caps to match an existing driveway? How do you match the new walkway with the existing slope of the driveway? Where do you lay the starter stone? Thanks, Malcolm.
No problem at all, glad you enjoy the videos. The measuring side takes time and experience for sure. I try to mix in measurements here and there through my videos, but maybe someday I will try to make a video on how to make some basic measurements for projects like that. ✌
I think I’ve found the answer to a previous question (different video). @23:30 It looks like you use the hammer to set them, rather than the compactor after before the sand process for the joints. If we have an intended joint between the pavers, when setting them how do you maintain the joint space (tile spacers)?
Correct, we set the pavers into place and level them with our hammers. We also compact the pavers during the polymeric sanding stage as well. As far as joints, most pavers come with bump outs around the edge of them to create the joints automatically. But if you have pavers without them, yes, you would use a tile space or something comparable.
a different way to laying slabs from us in the UK...we use a waker plate and not the tamper..the sub base is with a hardcore waker all down then building sand again waker all down then screed and put blocks on it..after that dry keel sand and waker over again...job done
I use plate compactor on most projects, this was small enough for the tamper. But I stopped using gravel and sand over 4 years ago. I use only clean, crushed stone now (Open Grade Base). I have quite a few videos on my channel explaining it. But it has proven to be far superior to sand✌
