Her legs crossing at the end were a nice touch. Before she was nervously shifting in her throne, unsure of herself. The moment, she cleared her conscious, however, she became relaxed, confident, and her body-language was that of a ruler and not a troubled girl.
Crossing one's legs was traditionally the sign by prostitutes to show potential customers the "wares" in very early times. This is why it was forbidden in high society and especially royal families for centuries and even today. Having her cross her legs is historically incorrect and insulting of her dignity and stature.
Or maybe it was simply the foreshadowing of how she would later break tradition.

the average life expectancy back then was 30 and children matured much more quickly than we do now, her ascendance to the throne wouldn't have been at all surprising in that time period. Pharaohs also got the highest standard of education back then, so she would've been much smarter than most of the adults. Lastly, I don't think anyone knew that mitochondria was the powerhouse of the cell lmfao.

Well luckily Disney couldn’t have a moment like this where a child/Princess character lets someone die due to their hesitation. In a Disney film the hero would at least realize last second if not instantly that it isn’t right to execute citizens like this, and would save the person’s life before they were executed

I like that at the beginning, she sat like a nervous kid at a desk. It seemed to represent her hesitation in ruling the kingdom. But by the end, she accepted it and sat in a more confident pose, symbolizing her control. It’s subtle but important!

This should be made into a full length movie. She could possibly be the first pharaoh from her generation. Who wants change I would love to see what happens next.

@@leonardofarias8843 Yes I also think that idea would be cool. But I also think dreamworks, is a better choice for this particular kind movie. Because of how they handled the story of the Prince of Egypt. And I also think if this was made into a full movie. It shouldn't sugar-coat the dilemma that the young pharaoh is in. When it comes to dealing with slaves and the harsh laws of ancient Egypt. And what it means to be in her new position as Pharaoh. And maybe due to the sad reality she witnesses first hand. She decides to bring change to thousands years of tradition. But she'll have to face many difficulties, before reaching her goal. Due to her ministers and high priests of Egypt. Being against her new ideas and political views.

@@leonardofarias8843 Yes but disney tends to make things mostly light hearted. Without any serious consequences. I do think this could be a good disney movie. But I think a story like this can't be sugar-coated where everything is sorted out in an instant. I want there to be a emotional connection in where the stakes is high. But in the end comes with a inspiring ending that gives hope to ancient Egypts people. And once the pharaoh manages to overcome the hardship of Egyptian laws. She grows more as a person and finds strength that she never knew she had. Due to her youth and inexperience. She learns to gradually get the love and respect from her people.

I think it's pretty solid, cause the point was that if you wanna stay on top as ruler, you have to maintain your position and take a responsability for it, and also try to change things for better if you have power to do so (rather then being an asshole).

The way those eyes light up. I haven't seen that in animation before.
Reminded me of the story of Hatcheptsut from the 18th Dynasty. She was the first female to be given the right to be named Pharaoh and rule as a single woman.
As an Animation graduate and an Egyptian history buff, may I just say...this was absolutely beautiful!

I’m loving the innocence of the pharaoh. But one thing is the voice of her, idk just kind of gave me like a weird feeling like it doesn’t fit with the character
Agreed, especially the last parts when shes giving commands, it doesnt fully convey that kind of tone for me. It still sounds like the indecisive shaky voice in the first half.

Edit: Wow all the comments seem to remember this story differently! Some say she was married to her brother for 3 years before she left, some say she never married her brother, others say she was kicked out of egypt by her brother. I don't know which one is right, but I believe that the story of cleo patra went through some broken telephone along the many centuries.

She did give a slight nod and a glance. it happened just before it switched to directly infront of her face. Probably didn't notice because it was so subtle it was easy to lose in the fidgeting.

I remember a tale like this, she sacrificed herself for her people and did what others thought was wrong. She did it for her people but in the end they turned on her because of their greed. She strained herself by disobeying her family traditions and worked her butt off for her people, she did everything a proper queen would do if not more but in the end she was still killed. She was left alone on a rock and she lay there for days drifting between life and death until she finally died. It was a tragic death unbefitting of a hero like herself, yet In the end she didn’t regret helping her people and hoped her death would benefit her people. This tale leaves a sour taste in my mouth because it only leaves me despising the human race.

When it comes to this kind of stuff, a ruler that age would mostly just decide things based on their superiors. This guy is just blaming her for her father’s mistakes.

This was great, I love the character building, the moment she realises the power her gestures have and the consequences of the system of injustice is clear and very well highlighted by the lovely animation.
4:30 the music gives me chills, like “This is when a new era begins” vibe. But also scares me a little too. But the music was a great way to end the animation.

The reign of the pharaohs lasted a ridiculously long time. For hundreds it was by paid laborers, usually farmers during the wet season, but it eventually shifted to slaves.
Depends on which ruler you're speaking of, I suppose. After all, historically speaking, the cheapness of slave labor has been proven to be too tempting to resist, time and time again.

I think that this was a beautiful animation.. The style and effort put into it was amazing, and you could blatantly see the inner fight going on in the Pharaoh’s heart through her eyes. If only all leaders ruled with as much sensibility as this..

I'm Egyptian, A COPTIC CHRISTIAN EGYPTIAN, I shout that out loud because we are the most pure blooded Egyptians out there and that's not only my opinion that's what Egyptologists, Historians and Scientists also agreed on , and I tell you that every word that Bassem Youssef said is right and I totally agree with him.
Yes Egypt had lots of mixed cultures throughout its history like for example: Greeks, Romans and Arabs, but the Egyptian blood didn't mix and change that much and that's because for centuries we Egyptians had a golden tradition rule to marry our cousins, and that tradition is still present until now especially in Upper Egypt(from Assiut to Aswan), Although that tradition seems silly and bad from a scientific biological point of view, but that doesn't matter, silly or not we kept that tradition of marrying our cousins for centuries and that helped us to preserve our pure Egyptian blood not mixed as long as we could, and the result is what you see now and that is Modern Egyptians looks typical to their Ancient Egyptian Ancestors, just look at my skin color and Bassem Youssef's skin color we are almost the same although he is a Muslim who was born and lived in Cairo and I am a Coptic Christian who was born and lived in Luxor and there is almost a 1000 km distance between us, doesn't that tell you a thing or two about who Ancient Egyptians were and what they looked like?
With all due respect for all the Black people and all the other ethnicities out there, but we Egyptians are special very special, WE ARE NOT Black or White or Yellow, Not Europeans or Africans or Asians, Not Assyrians or Persians or Israelites or Nubians or Greeks or Romans or Arabs or French or Italians or Germans or British or Turkish or Ukrainians, Not Middle Easterners or Caucasians or Mediterraneans or Levants or Amazigh or Berbers or even North Africans.

love the story. I like how the child is given a huge responsibility of a kingdom with an advisor who is under a pretense of false power of sorts and in the end the pharoah who was just a child given no choice takes control and chooses to rule her way taking the power away from her advisor who is obviously spoiled by other rulers before her, and moving forward under her own way of ruling creating a new legacy that is best for her people and not for the sake of the throne only. In the end its the people who support the rulers under them and if they move away from under the rulers, where will the rulers stand?
This could honestly be a Netflix series.
A series would be weird. Netflix would wanna make more money and then it would slowly lose the beauty and seem like a cheap shadow of what it could be
@@somnodaur8064 No I don't believe that, NetFlix hires different programs to make their original series, they have little involvement and really just claim it as theres. There are some actual good original series on NF, you just have to dig deep to find it.

not a series, a movie would be a lot better, and if it were a series they'd be force to make lesser quality because CGI is a lot of work, trust me. it would probably be something like All Hail King Julien if they went with something like that, or all the typical cgi shows. It's way better as a movie

This young pharaoh is being a real leader after hearing what's happening to her people she decided to stop her subjects suffering.
According to legend the pharaohs use to be kind but over time they became greedy and cruel.
So her ancestors would be proud of her for do the right thing for her people.
Maybe they will changed his minds to be good again
Notice the change of posture, how she sits on her throne? Gone is the little girl, for now she is the Pharaoh.

He claims that she is an inadequate queen, not taking timely and necessary action to ease her people’s suffering, and his death proves it because her hesitation and indecision stopped her from saving his life.
They could’ve taken the easy route where just hearing the truth from his mouth made her turn around, which would’ve been nice but not as impactful.

Alright peeps as an Egyptian I would like to say that the Pharaoh's assistant is not evil, at least not in his era. Put him in our modern world and yes he is very evil! But he was going by actual laws they had at the time. Therefore that would have made him a good guy back then.
Lady Bubs he was going by the laws, but the laws weren’t humane. Hammurabi would’ve approved of these laws, because he was the one who influenced them in many other countries and was influenced by these countries. But being sentenced to death for stating your opinion is highly unfair. Of course, that’s history, and it’s not like we can do anything about it. But the fact that her assistant was encouraging the villager’s death does make him evil in a way.
They were neither humane nor inhumane. Judging the laws of the ancient world is pointless and arrogant since our moral values are much different from theirs.
Everyone has a right to speak what they think but sentencing someone to death because they’re speaking they’re mind out is cruel but the worst part is using the law to make someone agree with you and to tell a child that it’s okay to kill because the law says it’s okay but people can’t change the past so there is no reason to discuss it
I think the laws were appropriate given the era and circumstance. The laws must be strict in a world of warfare and turmoil. Ancient civilizations survived because of these strict regulations.

For example if you where a pharaoh and someone spoke bad things about you would you rather be feard or would you prove there is nothing to be afraid of?

I found the cgi and key detail to be very good or very very above standard for the basic visuals of that scene, the main thing that was off for me was the female voice acting sounding in some ways off and the voice acting for the man killed. The guard who killed him sounded very good.
Calling a Pharaoh a queen/king is improper bcs they where Pharaoh's, not kings/queens, but all in all, this is really good animation
The ONLY thing I would change is the girl's voice- I find it doesn't quite fit her. But otherwise this is a beautiful masterpiece😍
