Hey Traders, I know a lot of you guys are interested in Forex and options. What are some Forex, options, stock, or tax questions you want me to ask Chinner? 👇🏼
Chinner looks like such a humble dude. He knows his stuff. Loved hearing about his trading strategies and the evolution of his trading career alongside his actual career and family life.
Hmm! Trying to put my finger on it. But Shay, I found this particular interview very insightful. I think it’s because it was well rounded. Focused on trading, but with different contexts as the backdrop. Trading across different eras, environments. Trading different assets. Trading at different stages of life. Trading pre and post children. There was a philosophical vein running through the whole thing. I found this very useful. My appreciation goes to your skill in asking the questions, and then stepping back. Great!
By far the best interview yet Shay. Chinner is a wealth of very useful information. More of these interviews with actual pro seasoned traders please. Love this a lot!
Go ahead and have babies, Shay! My wife and I have 2, and we've only made around 100 grand a year for years and had no problems raising them up and giving them an amazing life. If you put it off bc of financial stability, then you are putting it off for the wrong reasons. Children are a blessing from God. They will show you what love truly is and will give you more understanding for God's unconditional love for us!
In the late 90's the exchange was still quoting on 1/8th's. 8/8th's -$1, each 8th was 12.5 cents. I was able to squeeze an 1/8th out of Cendant (now defunct computer business). Through Scottrade, the commission for each trade was $12.50 for limit order buy and $12.50 for limit order for sell. So on 1/8th and a 1000 shares of Cendant, I would squeeze $125.00 per trade with the same orders 20-1/2 buy and sell 20-5/8, deduct the commission and take your $100.00. Some days it was to choppy, but some days I could do it 8 to 10 times. After the market switched to actual dollar and cents mark, spreads from bid to ask was shrunk to the point that small traders were not able to skim that 8th out of large cap companies like we could in the 90's.
9:11 Back 1998, I sold software on my website via download from Digital River. If I had known how much that industry would grow over time, I would have stuck with them. I assumed digital downloads would be heavily suppressed after what happened to Napster. A small segment of us had been downloading software online from bulletin boards and freenets since about '93.
Great video as always! 👍 Just a small off-topic question: 😅 I have a set of words 🤷♂️. (behave today finger ski upon boy assault summer exhaust beauty stereo over). I don't know what they are. What should I do with them? 🤷♀️
Excellent video Shay! A lot of good nuggets and many things I aligned on. Love the practice of paper trading to warm up! I also think paper trading after hitting profit targets for the day or when the trading gets tough and you would normally stop. I like the idea of practicing without risking.
I loved the part about kids. So true. I started trading when I learned we're getting 2 kids, instead of one and I panicked over my low salary. One rule I definitely made since then - no trading when kids or hubby are at home (sick or holiday) . Because there's absolutely no way to focus and your emotions are all around. I try to follow it, mostly, but some big trading errors came when I failed :) So yeah, it's hard to plan with little kids and hard to do a lot of stuff, actually. But I liked the thing about them mirroring our emotions. My kids are not my carbon copies, yet, I can already see some copying in their behavior. Hmm. Something to think about. Great interview, a lot to learn from it.
Enjoy all the interviews. I never trade stocks so I feel a little lost. Only trade futures due to the leverage. Maybe it’s too juvenile, but I never hear how they manage a trade. Strictly stops?
Thank you Chinner for sharing your trading strategies with tons of information, and thank you Shay for another amazing interview with one phenomenal well experienced trader. Would appreciate if you could share more information about tax strategies in a separate video.
18:44 What exactly is he saying here? "He likes to them slam low...watch those slow slimy shorts pile in...and then get in on top of them." I know what shorting is, but I don't follow the logic sequence in what he said. Anyone?
Interesting to hear about SOES, the guy who taught me was one of the originals who also had an interesting story. Wonder why he can't look in Shay's eyes though he looks down then quickly looks up to the corner of his eyes...Shay has a spell 😊
Hello Humbled Trader. I need an experienced opinion on a strategy. I’ve been backtesting 0DTE option trades. I’ve tested the "In The Money" single contract with no stop bc it provides a defined risk or loss amount. I've tested getting the direction right and wrong to see the results. I’m good with the defined risk as my daily loss. I’m using SPY bc the expiring options are cheap to buy. I’m doing 1 contract in backtesting to keep my losses small if I call the direction wrong. My plan is to hold it like a day trade and sell prior to market close everyday or stop out if I have the direction wrong. Have you seen this done and if so was it successful on a short or long term basis? Thanks for your help. Keep up the excellent work. Reply
options here: i see that my strength is options and have had my most profits from it in options, how do I trade a $1,000 account to make at least 10% per week from it?
Hi Shay! Iam from INDIA watching your videos and learning trading. Thank you so much. I have a request from you. Please make a video on how to see and analyse news on different websites and how it will react to stock prices
*You work for 40yrs to have $1M in your retirement, meanwhile some people are putting just $10K into trading from just few months ago and now they are multimillionaires..*
To answer the "Is it getting easier or harder mid video' (Paused).. I think its getting easier to get into but also harder to master... Saying that (With Tin Foil Cap on) Alot of ppl in other fields are retiring so at the same time I would feel that its the same for Traders. Covid happened and brought a influx of traders(coincidence?!) being able to work from home in pj's with a Dream to make lots of money everyone would love that.
thank you for the valuable info, in your previous video you recommended thinkorswim platform for premarket screening of gapping stocks , but it doesnt work for me, it seems to be providing data only after the market opens or am i wrong??
I highly recommend having at least one child. I thought I would never have any kids nor did I care if I did. I wound up having a daughter 11 years ago and my mind has flipped. Having her in my life makes me have more meaning in my life. I guess you could have a kid that is a pain in the ass and always causing trouble. Part of that is in how you raise them and can be genetic someway. Thankfully my daughter is most of the time a good kid.

What is yours and Chinner opinion about Elliott Wave Analysis?
Awesome interview! Thanks 😊
What about .... ???
A whole session on strategy…options and futures would be amazing.
Chinner looks like such a humble dude. He knows his stuff. Loved hearing about his trading strategies and the evolution of his trading career alongside his actual career and family life.
I love how "surprised" Shay is when she learns about history that's only 20 - 30 years ago. Love these interviews!!

"It's gonna go parabolic for a few days....short it..." - YES!

It would be great to find a tool that helps you know which emotion is dominating your consciousness at a given time
