Wow mate what a prime day. We got a few good days up here but its back to ordinary rain and wind now. That fingermark was a beauty mate. Ive caught those different looking flattys before around the rocks at archer point they're very different to the stock standard ones hey. Even their mouths look a bit funny. Anyway thanks for sharing bloke! 👍🏻🎣

hey hodgie, any chance you could do a video of schooled up barra. so showing us when you find them and then where you position your boat with spot lock and where abouts you are casting for them. im always finding stacks of them on my sounder but cant work out where to position my boat to have a crack at them. same goes for the fingermark too really wanna nail some good ones but dont know what to look for

Gday mate. Well, you’ve got the hardest bit (finding them) worked out by the sounds of it. I’ll see what footage I can get mate and show a more detailed approach when we see them next. Generally want we’ll do if we’ve found some, or even if we think there may be something in a particular position is to locate ourselves just downstream from the school or suspected fish holding area. Head weight and lure profile are actually quite important also, and in say 2m of water we may just use the 1/4 ounce weedless head in the form at an Atomic Seeker 5/0 hook size. If there is some current there, we may ad in a small ball sinker to drop the nose down to aid the sink rate. Casting up around 5m past the fish and then allowing it to hit the bottom and the hop it through the area we think they’ll be and letting it hit the bottom in between bounces is important mate. Colour also comes into it, remembering that the deeper you go in dirty water the less light there is means contrast and UV active traces on a lure are important considerations. I hope this helps in the prep for when you next see some on the sounder, but we will try our best to get some footage for you mate. Cheers for the question mate. ✌🏻😉

Good day on the water beats a bad day at work, just like to say a big thanks to Hodgie for taking the time to help out my young grandson on lure selection. He now is addicted to fishing.
