I had a 2005 Ford Focus just a little bit over 10 years ago. I was in a bad accident in it. I even had a broken ankle from the accident. It was a fun little car.
Wonder how well the Focus Mk1 sold in the US compared to Europe very big seller here when it first came out, I didn't think Americans would as keen on it so wouldn't expect as many to be sold.
This must've been actually made in 1998 since iirc the US-market Focus debuted at the January 1999 Detroit auto show and shipped to dealers in spring as an early 2000 model, yet only Euro cars are shown in this internal sales video so there wasn't footage of finalized US-spec cars.
If Ford ever brings the Focus to North America again, it will have to be called the Escort again. Nobody will buy a Focus in North America because of the heritage of the PowerShift's reliability issues.
@@user-Timothy1 I have had enough problems with my Focus that I will never buy another Ford product. The company has ruined the Focus name in North America. Even though it was 2012-2018, it was long enough to tarnish the product. Ford should have done here what it did in Australia and replace the 2.0L GDI 4 and PowerShift with the 1.5L EcoBoost and 6 speed torque converter automatic with the 2015 models. Fiesta and Focus owners 2015-2019 still have issues with the PowerShift - it will never be fixed because it was flawed from day 1. Having to redline the engine (and I only do this where there aren't any other pedestrians and vehicles) to get the transmission to "scrub the clutches" isn't a fix and reduces the service life of the clutches, but makes the transmission work a whole lot better. The Focus in North America is a throwaway vehicle.
Interesting video, and a fantastic car. The Mk1 Focus introduced the notion that family cars do not have to be dull.
Name one thing that is NOT dull about the Ford Focus
Truly a European car. I’d say the powertrains weren’t the strongest here in the US, but then the chassis was head and shoulders above.
Totally agree, and if there's more mk1 Focus material hope te see it soon on the channel ;)
My Aunt Sarah used to own a 2000. And this was 22 years ago.
*Ford Focus Drinking Game:* _Have a drink every time they say FOCUS._ 😂🍻

They do briefly show some shots of a U.S.-spec Focus sedan.
the focus is dead for the US market
