Im firing my HOYD that has like 17 WWY, JPA and JCA (huge for anyone based in Denmark)... and im getting a new one that has lower coaching stats but has a modern citizen personality. All the stats in these videos point out that HYOD only matters for the hidden attributes and does not influence the quality of CA/PA that u are gonna get, which is so counterintuitive. This is something that nobody researched. I've been combing the internet on insights regarding HYOD but nobody brought proof on HOW it actually works. i've binge watched this series 2 times now. The youth recruitment being not about the score itself but how it compares to those other teams in the country is such a major insight! It explains a lot on why even though my team has 20 YR, a lot of players go to a rival team that has higher reputation (its tied on YC, they also have 20)
Thank you for this very interesting series! I can’t imagine the amount of work needed to run the test etc. Take as much rest as you need and recharge for the next FM!
Thank you for all the great info! This one in particular was really helpful for my building a nation save in Iceland where I am managing a team from Akureyri. I thought there was a chance I would be handicapped not being in Reykjavik, but I have still been getting very good (for Icelands standards) regens, so my anecdotal evidence backs up your study. Interestly though a lot of my regens are actually from Akureyri, so the system might populate a pool of players, allocate them via a draft, and then assign birth locations based on where they were drafted.
Hey mate, if multiple nations can share a same draft pool (which I believe is the case), then Iceland would go into the same pool as the other Northern European nations (Sweden, Finland etc.) That means Icelandic teams can definitely get high quality newgens. Iceland's Youth Rating is quite mediocre though (67/200) which may place a cap on how good your wonderkids can be.
Awesome Max, another great series. Now you have finished it I am going to pester you about a consistency video again please. 😃 I would love to know how the consistency rating affects player performance

This series has been the best so far. Inspired a new Saint Pauli save where I’ve decided I can only sign players 30+ so any youngsters have to be academy players. First season in the bundesliga, our youth recruitment was ‘exceptional’ and looking at the youth intake screen, we had first picks in the whole of Germany. It was the best youth intake I’ve had in any FM, almost a starting 11 of wonderkids. The next season, my youth intake dropped to third after Bayern and dortmund and the intake was not as good as the previous. These clubs must’ve upgraded youth recruitment and allowed their larger reputation to poach the best wonderkids that season.
Hey bud, yea Youth Recruitment is the key, maybe in the first season your club had the best YR which resulted in a good crop, but in the second season Bayern / Dortmund upgraded their YR. But remember it depends on lots of other factors too eg. club rep, junior coaching, youth training facilities, and most importantly, LUCK!!
Thanks for your work. Really useful information right here, knowing I might get a way better youth intake after winning the Champions League and raising the club reputation from 4 to 5 stars :)
You mean you expect to be more lucky? I still pissed because the "dynamic youth rating" never came, still only can get latin-american and african wonderkids...

Great series. Be interesting to know what happens with teams from other countries in different nation league structures like Welsh teams in England. Are they sharing the Welsh intake or the English league system intake?
Hey mate, I was also interested in investigating that, didn't get a chance to test it. If multiple nations shared a same draft pool (which I believe is this case), then Welsh / English / Scottish / Irish teams would all share the same draft pool.
I play with Merthyr Town. It's a YAC save. Currently in the Premier League. I get the best Welsh newgens, with Swansea picking up the rest in terms of quality. A few English and prospect from Ireland and northern Ireland have also trickled in. I'm still a national reputation tho.
you didn't know this is possible too but i hired hoyd few days before youth intake and he "scouted 2-3 players from his home region " and they appeared in youth intake from other country ( i was in wells or ireland ) hoyd was english

Yup. His conclusions are completely wrong because he didn't sim far enough out. He is just repeating the sum of 1 year. USA cannot produce any youth intake and the only factor is game importance. Change it to very important sim to 2050 and USA dominates the world stage and is a youth power house. USA is set to unimportant. It prevents them from producing any sort of quality intake. If you sim default game 50 years USA can get to top 5 or higher but it's entirely from overseas generated Americans. No Americans who actually went through the USA youth intake cycle. These tests just show it doesn't impact the first year. But over time game importance is the most important thing for youth intake for a nation.
I wonder if you could have used the MLS as an experiment league, due to the fact that you have 3 Canadian teams playing in the USA Competition. Would be interesting to see if all the teams are pulling regens from the same pool. or if the Canadians get their own pool?
I was thinking about that. I wanted to test what happens when clubs from different countries participate in a single league. It was difficult to set up a test using MLS though because their youth intake mechanics are completely different from the European leagues.
(Full Edit) I asked a silly question but now I have a very serious one🧠. So Holland shares a pool amongst the teams there..... BUT! Team G has an affiliate on the other side of the world with the ideal youth setup to attract its nations TOP talent. Korean Youth Intake League... Teams S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z. Lets say all of those Korean teams are 10's, with reputations descending similar to Holland in this video. BUT! Team S is the perfect club to bring in wonderkids IN KOREA! Does the Youth players from the affiliate come from Koreas pool... lessening the amount of talent available to the other teams... or does one of the Holland kids instead get replaced by one of the pre-generated names from Korea, but uses Holland&Team G's Youth Setup to determine that players final CA/PA? If the players still come from holland, but are instead given Korean pre-gen names... the graphs would look the same ye? BUT! If Team G is instead pulling players from Team S... THE Top Team in Korea, 10k rep, 20's all around... then Team G should be a singular spike that does not affect the other teams natural curve of intake CA/PA??? I know this is the end of the series.... but knowing if I can pull from other nations Youth Intake pools would make me more inclined to actually setup feeder teams, and not just places to send loaners. Love you! Thanks for this series mate.

Hey bud, I think you're asking what happens to top newgens from the Korean draft pool, if Team G (Holland) and Team S (Korea) have equal 'pulling force'. I don't know 😂 It's a scenario that I haven't thought of. If it is possible to 'pull' top talents from other regions of the world, yes it could be an OP move to set up feeder teams worldwide so that you can monopolise the best newgens from around the world. Keeping in mind that newgens are generated only in leagues that are active/view-only in your saves. Also, while you can 'pull' newgens from other regions, the final quality of wonderkids will still be affected heavily by your club's parameters (Junior Coaching, Youth Facilities etc.)
I believe that stuff like wheter a country is developed or a third world country and football interests affects dynamic nation youth rating, maybe you can do a thorough test in FM24
I wonder if that still works in big countries like Canada. The best youngsters seem to still be localized opposed to the best getting snapped up first at least in my saves
Thanks for all your work on this series and the others. With FM24 on the horizon, have you found there to be big differences between versions regarding your research? In other words, are these findings on newgens in FM23 likely to be valid for the new game?
Honestly, not much difference in game mechanics in the past few years. The findings from FM23 is most likely applicable in the previous instalments as well.
Hey, I'm a HUFE fan of your videos. I'm wondering if you have ever looked at youth development rates when players are placed in under 19 squads Vs playing in 2nd teams in countries such as France /Spain etc. Would they develop more playing in 2nd team or keep in the under 19s?
Hey bud, this is something I've discussed before in my previous video: ruclips.net/video/BGwt952hFPg/видео.html Match experience in the 1st team makes players grow faster than match experience in reserve/youth teams. Give your youngsters first team match experience whenever possible.
Hello mate. I want to ask you a question not about this video, but about your old videos which are about "evidence-based training schedule". Firstly, thank u for your evidence-based training schedule! My question is; your training schedule is really fatiguing for players, especially when there are 2 matches at the same week. So players need to rest to avoid injuries. But your schedule doesn't let players to rest, even the day after a match, there are still trainings. Is'nt better for players to rest for a full day after the match day? Thank you very much!
Hey mate, yes that's a common feedback I've been getting with my training schedule. I've said this in the video but my schedule is only aimed at squeezing as much growth from players as possible, with less attention on injury prevention. So feel free to take out 1-2 sessions from the training schedule until injury rates go down. Especially after matchdays.
Thanks for your reply. Can you make a video about "finance differenec on a team"? If you try somethings and make experiments about finance, it would be great@@ebfm
@@berkaydilek2644 Hey bud, finance is something I'm thinking about researching in FM24. Not in FM23 though because it's too late to start such a massive topic!
só, mental attributes of your HOYD matter ? like the trinity of determination level of discipline etc ? or its what ever as long as your head of youth has model citzen and high reputation ?
Hey mate, according to my tests, the only attribute of HOYD that seems to matter is his/her personality attributes (Ambition, Professionalism, Loyalty etc.) Not Determination / Level of Discipline etc. Refer to Part 1/2 for more details!
Maybe I missed the answer to this question in a previous video, but what determines which players teams select in the draft? For instance, you'd expect clubs like Man City, Spurs, Liverpool, etc., to snap up all the high PA players available in a draft. But there are times when you'll see a 160+ PA regen at a League 1 club. Did all the clubs with higher youth recruitment/rep pass on that player? Why wasn't he selected by a team in the EPL or even Championship?
It's not as straightforward as regen 1 (PA 198) go to Team 1, regen 2 (PA 195) go to Team 2... First, regens don't have preestablished PA values. Proof is, if you reload your save prior intake, you'll get completely different values. Second, unless regens are classified and selected by ranges, like Tier 1 = 170-200, Tier 2 = 160-190, etc, which is not confirmed the only thing that ultimately we know for sure is that Team 1 will have a better CA/PA average than Team 2. So you can get the highest average of the league but all players around the average for example (which is never that high). Finally, it makes sense to have gems getting out of smaller clubs like in real life. Also, to answer your question, sometimes low divs clubs are high in the picking list because of their youth recruitment value...
Hey mate, the order of draft is determined by 1. Youth Recruitment and 2. Club Reputation. But as my friend below has pointed out, even after the draft, PA is still very flexible. This is why you can have the top Youth Recruitment / Club Rep / all other relevant parameters and still not get the top newgens. As I pointed out in the video - the most important factor is luck, which is why League 1 clubs can still spawn crazy wonderkids every now and then.
Are you talking about the options when setting up a new save? I usually tick - disable attribute masking - disable first transfer window But I might vary these depending on how I feel like.
Hey bud, I've mentioned this in the video, but with HOYD, only the hidden attributes (the 'personality attributes') affect newgens. The 'regular attributes' eg. Judging player potential, Reputation etc. do NOT affect newgens.
I wonder what is the limit in PA of newgens for countries with low youth rating. I mean how well we can improve the average PA in these countries (bad youth rating and game importance). Is it even possible to make Tajikistan new Brasil?
Game importance is not imp... like is shown on the video. Youth Rating on the other side is "everything" for PA. They tried to put dinamic youth ratings in game... but is still very bad, there is litle improvement even when you win the World Cup or the Champions. This means is impossible to make Tajikistan the new Brasil.... basically is almost impossible to improve youth rating in the game, the dynamic youth rating is basically a lie.... not exagerating DYNAMIC YOUTH RATING is a mechanic that doesn't work on the game... PS: a lot of people play a ton of seasons doing the most impossible achievments and the youth rating of the country barely changes. Only way to real change it is using the editor.
A draft system makes sense, I wonder who “picks” the players in the draft, I have a 200 pa player in my save that spawned in serie c. How did everyone miss on him? I guess luck is the most important factor😂
hey mate, I haven't tested Important Matches yet, so can't say for sure. But most Hidden Attributes can change slightly over the course of a player's career so it may be possible for Important Matches to improve over time.
Now do how the Board logic actually works :D I mean why would a semi-pro club would reject the request of getting an senior affiliate that can either give free loans or money. Makes no sense :D
Damn, a bit sad to see this series ended. I mean, it's really interesting ... affiliate clubs would be most funny if they lower the newgens because their countries have lower ratings. 😅 Then, also, sadly, point 7 is the truth. Just keep saving/loading for RNG. Changed the HoYD to a Resolute guy, the rest of the stuff are basically the highest possible, and still keep getting 3* kids ... loaded maybe 10-20 times until I got a 5* PA kid. Yet ... "Fairly Sporting". Sigh ... NOTE - the club is literally one of the very best in the world already, so a 3* kid is already good enough. Still ... aim for the stars, yah? 😉
I can tell you that newgens PA from other clubs are also affected a lot by your country youth rating. Playing in Portugal with Porto, changed youth rating from 134 to 150... there was 2 spawns of 170+... both colombian. Next seasons top talent with 150+ keep being Colombian. Porto has a Colombian club and in base game most top talent that spawns is from Colombia. Colombia is 117 Youth Rating. Also if you want to cheat... you need to cheat in December to get "golden generation". I already did this with Portugal 134 youth rating and normally top clubs already gets 150+... doing this i could easly get 170+ regens every season. Portugal also have the advantage of spawning players with good personality (each country have personality ranges in editor this is then affected by Youth Head of Development or the other person responsible for recruitment).
@@ebfm that's... Hardcore. 😅 I let the coaches do their work. (not enough time in real life, automated it. 🙂) Also, sometimes a *3 HGC player can do the job, depending on stats. So, it does... Depend. 😅
@@Chengyuan79 Stars are relative to your squad CA... so is their PA vs your team CA (with an error, that has been increased in recent fm editions especially to players out of your team). So if you have a young first team with potencial but low ca or you're playing a lowerleague... even 5star regens have a high probability of being bad. So unless you have a team full of developed stars, if you aim to the top of the world you want only 5stars. Also be carefull with their position... because if they are rated as an AMC and you don't have AMC, is easy for him getting a 5star. When you have a top talent team with high CA. then you can go for 3yellow stars and full white... and if you see a 5 star keep him under your eye. Tha's probably why they introduced error on the scouts, in the past 5star and you had a top team... that was garanteed to be a top player. Now there is an error that is increased in younger ages, especially if is not your player (you can exploiting trials, since the error is a lot reduced for players in your team).

@@berkaydilek2644 Hey bud, finance is something I'm thinking about researching in FM24. Not in FM23 though because it's too late to start such a massive topic!
Fantastic thumbnail 😂
Bros the goat
só, mental attributes of your HOYD matter ? like the trinity of determination level of discipline etc ? or its what ever as long as your head of youth has model citzen and high reputation ?

The thumbnail is pretty cursed
Just a thought on a basic topic - what is your save set-up please?
Are you talking about the options when setting up a new save?
I usually tick
- disable attribute masking
- disable first transfer window
But I might vary these depending on how I feel like.
@@ebfm Yes options for a new save. Leagues & database as well, thanks
I wonder if the HOYD attributes effect newgens at all?
200 PA? I don't think I've ever seen that before 😳 snap him up before his value skyrockets!
qq, does important matches stat of a player ever improve?
hey mate, I haven't tested Important Matches yet, so can't say for sure.
Then, also, sadly, point 7 is the truth.
@altacc5356 ah. Thanks!
I trying not to reload (it feels like cheating), but ... got tired of waiting so many seasons. 😅
Even 4 stars are not enough. Every year I release all youngsters who are less than 5 stars.😅
@@ebfm that's... Hardcore. 😅
I let the coaches do their work.
