Your breakdown at the end of the song is so spot on. Stray Kids often overlay lyrics about life struggles over a high energy beat, leaving you feeling hopeful and positive. A lot of their older stuff may not be listened to quite as much because it is old and their growth has come from their recent albums but also because it is shows OT9, before the 9th member left just before they released the title track Levanter (2019) which is also a slower paced song. Stray Kids have often implied that song was their “real” debut because it gave us the OT8 members we see today. As another commenter has said, I agree about not skipping Grow Up, it’s a hugely popular fandom song, a comfort song, one full of encouraging lyrics from the boys to the fans and often the fans at concerts have sung it back to the boys giving them support and comfort. In fact, during the pandemic, there was a tv show they put on for the fans when people could not meet for concerts and the boys were surprised when screens around the studio turned on and Grow Up started playing with recorded messages of love and support read aloud from the fans. There is a lyric in the chorus which translates to “you are doing well” and the fans spoke that line back to them. The boys ended up breaking down as they listened to all the love and support they were being given. That might help you understand why it is so special to Stay whether you react to it live or on your own. By the way, I am you is also a slower song. Most of their title tracks are not but they do have ballads in the mix of their discography where even the rappers sing beautifully. I love that diversity they offer.
Thank you for breaking down Grow Up! I’m a stay that joined right at the start of ROCK-STAR so I didn’t have this context! Stay is one of the only fandoms that truly gives the members as much love and support as they give us🫶🏻 so hearing about events like this one or the paper plane project always make me so happy for them!☺️
I discovered SKZ right before their 5 Star album comeback. As I have gone through their discography, I love their older songs just as much as their newer ones. Their genius creativity and skill is awe inspiring. As a matter of fact, just in the last couple of weeks I rediscovered Levanter, and I am totally I love with it. I am normally in the mood for the upbeat, hype, flex-type songs. However, as I made my way through all of those over the last several months I went back through their ballads and really listened to them. Their voices are SO beautiful and the melodies…I just love them. I’m in the “over 40” group of STAYs, and these guys have rejuvenated my love and excitement of music beyond comprehension. They are phenomenal. 🩵
I've only been a Stay since last summer (thanks to my daughter), but I'm fully in this fandom and it was really watching the Lollapalooza Paris fancams that solidified things. This song (My Pace) was definitely a highlight of that show
It's hard to suggest SKZ songs because they're all so good and unique in their own way. You're right, it just makes you happy. I genuinely love the message of it as well. Don't compare yourself to others. Run at your own pace. Stay in your own lane and just move forward. I was feeling a bit bummed before watching this and now I'm diddling pretty good. Thanks for reacting to this!
I connected with SKZ late in 2022, so did have to work my way back thru their older tracks... I have to admit, that if some of them had been my first introduction to SKZ, I may have enjoyed the song (cuz you're right - they don't have any bad music) and then moved on. [It's true, you never know which chocolate you're going to get with these guys, and the beauty of that is knowing that even if the raspberry nougat isn't your first choice - you can still really enjoy it as the piece between the coconut cream and the chocolate truffle! There is a luxurious sense of security knowing that there is something in every Stray Kids song that you can enjoy/appreciate/admire/identify with/ or even use to do a mood self-adjust!
thanks for reaction! I have seen in the comments you look at the MV numbers to decide what to react to next. I don't know if you are aware, but in kpop streaming of title tracks is a big deal, because youtube and spotify views contribute to wins at Korean music shows. that's why views on music videos is not always a correct representation of songs' popularity: the first weeks after the album release fans will stream the hell out of a title track, even if it their least favourite song on the album, just to help their favs to get wins. in addition, companies will buy youtube adds for the title track MVs, which would boost the views even higher. so at the moment with Hellevator, District 9 and my pace you are covering the title tracks: promoted by the company, more luckily to be known outside of the fandom. views on the b-sides (= not title tracks) will be significantly lower, but those are the most "natural" ones, and sometimes fans' favourite songs hide among b-sides. sadly, sometimes fans' favourite songs don't even have any MVs but that's the saddest topic T_T anyways, I just wanted to say, feel free to go at your own pace, just be careful and don't rely on the views too much - you might miss some true germs.
Yeah a lot of their older stuff, unless it's songs like Hellevator or District 9 (those are the two I see mentioned most) don't get talked about as much anymore but even their older stuff is great too. I think Grow Up is next but I'm not sure. If it is it'll be the slowest song by them you've listened to so far but it has a great message.
I think it will probably be ‘I am you’ as grow up didn’t actually pull huge numbers (still impressive numbers nonetheless) I might check that one out on my personal channel though 😊
@@WhiteCollarRhymes I wouldn't go by numbers. Grow Up is pretty beloved by Stays for its message. I am You is also a slower one. Again another great msg.

So does this mean that MIROH, Victory Song, Side Effects, Double Knot & Levanter are coming up next?! I hope so. I'm loving your reaction videos. I enjoy watching their videos along with you as you see them for the first time, & it's refreshing to hear your sincere comments afterwards too. I'll be along with you for the journey :)
I love how SKZ hide a deep message behind a happy beat, they do it pretty often. I find it very cool when the lyrics and the music don't match. I don't think western artists do it a lot, but I notice it from time to time on kpop, that sounds so fun. thank you for inserting clips with explanation of your references, it was very helpful since I have no clue about football :) You mentioned in the comments you will react to "I am you" next. Could you maybe do a double reaction? to react to 2 videos in 1 reaction: the official MV and the ballad version of the song (live performance at Showcase in Japan in 2019 - you shouldn't get blocked, I have seen other people react to it before). Just a suggestion :)
Thank you for the reaction. To me the song is more about don't worry about others just stay in your own lane and go at your own pace. you will get there in your own time and don't compare yourself to others. This song can be applied and related to everyone. This song was released not long after they debuted. Because they write their own songs there first year of songs are more about their experiences during training. The stress that their company comparing their trainees and other groups against each other had a big impact on them and all trainees. Stray kids likes to either flex or tack taboo songs like compulsion, or obsession, depression and relatable songs that others will experience. They have only made one love song and its not your normal love ballad. LOL Case143 is a love bop. EX song is a good song about break up and mistakes. it is more of a vocal song. Super Board is more of a punk rock fun song. They have so many songs different meaning and genres or mixed. thanks and catch you on the next stray kids video.
This was my first stray kids song, and the one that made me a stay in 2018! As brit born in 2002 i think there’s something about a lot of their songs that feels familiar to the music i had growing up, but with an entirely new influence on top. We have Bang Chan to thank for that, as he’s the leader and main producer of their music. He grew up in australia in the early 2000s so i think he also grew up with similar influences. Their lyrics really encouraged me in my late teen years and they still do so i’m very thankful Also the kids have talked about son and hwang heechan a few times lol. I forget if it’s man u or tottenham but i think changbin likes one of them. Wolves supporter here 😌

I know it’s so stereotypical because of the accent, but you sound just like DanTDM😭😂
That southern American accent 🤣🤣🤦🏻♀️
