@@djzrota I do view those channels. One thing I've noticed, reading comments, is that a lot of people try to blame the people of China for what's happened. I don't understand this. They are just people like the rest of us doing what needs to be done to stay alive. The real, only, problem is power mad politicians. :)

Well, the status of Taiwan is more complicated.
When the Chinese Civil War was won by the communists, the nationalist government of The Republic of China ran to Taiwan with the navy and airforce. The communists couldn't take the island and the nationalists set a government in exile in Taipei, which became democratic in the recent decades. This government in exile claims to be the only true and legitimate government of all of China to this day. But there is a problem: there can be only one China and as the Communist government is clearly extremely influent on the world stage it is quite hard to accept the Taipei government to take part separately in any international organisation.

Well, speaking as a citizen, it's a lot more complicated than that. Politics aren't my thing but I can say for certain that most people don't believe declaring that we're the true china will actually help our political situation. As for the government, it's split into two opposing parties, one of them suggests that Taiwan is an independent country "Taiwan", while the other (also the original one that fled to Taiwan) leans more toward negotiations with the CCP

5:36 Which failures was Trump responsible for again? It's my recollection that his actions continuously exceeded those called for by his (hopefully now less trusted)advisors, and the relevant organizations.
He cut some red tape but he screwed up by not mandating that tests can be purchased created by whoever needs to.
All those countries that are doing better, aren't locking in their citizens, but only the ones who they REGULARLY test for CCP Virus. They test at checkpoints and gates.
If you are restricting sick people from moving it's a quarantine. If you are restricting healthy people from moving it's tyranny. If you aren't even bothering to test, or allow people to test, it's still tyranny.
@@sirellyn4391 I don't think it's his fault that the CDC let such incompetence leak in that they boasted about their abilities and shipped an initial test that was garbage. He rightfully should have been able to rely on them to not screw that up. You can't expect him to literally see the future and preempt the one thing that's going to go wrong.
Also, my observations of case rates and actions by different nations show a much higher correlation between having real borders that can be shut down than having exemplary testing capabilities, though that is obviously an key part of a successful defense.
All that said, I think there's only a select few times where the government can do a better job than the free market, so I see almost any decision to exclude the private sector as a mistake. The CDC really should have had their shit together though.
