its a qualifying lap where Max Verstappen (the driver in the video) drives his lap to qualify for these front row (1st,2nd position) on the grid. @@TrayleF1 It's not even that what makes it most impressive, the fact that was his last lap while on P5 makes it much more impressive. The amount of pressure there must have been crazy.
Max Verstappen in his final lap in qualify, still 0.2 seconds away from Alonso in the 2/3 of the track that he already done, but miraculously (as you can see) gaining 0.3 seconds in the last sector, with his tyres just keep touching the wall (but no crash, and you can see it happened 3 times if you watched carefully enough) when he was pushing so hard

i'm convinced that if you were able to freeze time every time Max got close to the walls in that final sector, you wouldnt be able to fit a needle between the tyre and the barrier
Yea he made it all in sector 3 which is probably the least car dependent and more of just how close you are willing to be with the wall and how generous are you with the throttle, it shows Max has generational talent and its not just his car in which he wins with

@@anycoolgamernah I couldn't agreed with that, the RB engineer did manage to get a good car. Maybe there's more reason to how RB wins a lot of race in 23 season but you name it.
for me it's really not about the driver but more to the car, and if we talk about the motogp yes the driver and their bike has a big changes to their race. I truly believe that besides the love tap on the wall on the pit straight, this was a perfect sector 3. I'd find it hard to believe he could have found any more time in those turns.
Squaring off the radii of each turn is astonishingly quick around Monaco. If he did it the whole lap he'd have dropped Fernando by a half-second. Ask Fernando about 2005, Kimi took a similar line the S3, and blew his doors off. If I recall, he was struggling in the middle sector as well. Shortest sectors inherently= fastest (potential speed) sectors
Whats happening here? could someone please explain it to a beginner f1 fan?
