I think every generation thinks the music their children listen to is just awful but, and I know I'm biased, I do think the music from the 50's (even back to 40's) through the 70's was a great time for music and will continue to be discovered by new generations. Experimentation with genres, themes, instruments, styles, lyrics, vocal style, etc. No matter what one's taste in music there was something for them. For example, I listened to pop-rock (think "The Monkees"). I hadn't heard of Meatloaf until the 90's; he was the guest on Marie Osmond's show and I thought he was a new artist. /major face palm I went to his Storytellers Tour and was thrilled when I was invited on stage with him for one of the "stories." An entirely new generation/s is being introduced to Queen's music, for example, and love it. I enjoy listening to "reaction videos," especially of voice coaches to various songs. Some of the reactions are priceless! One of my favorites (and one I watch when I'm feeling down) is this young man's reaction to "Bohemian Rhapsody." @@mattieluiijf I The way I'd do it (if I could sing) is: get a copy of the lyrics, put them on a music stand or something of the like and use them as a referent as you sing. After you have gone through the song a few times that way you will still need the lyrics but your singing will sound easy and natural. That's probably what Patti Smith should have done in Sweden a few years back.
