nick, thanks for posting and sharing this with us. I have to say that I didn't think the beard suited you, mate. Glad to see that you're back amongst the clean shaven. Cheers.
Welcome back Doc, I noted that you dry out your soaps by turning the tubs upside down on a towel. Here's a little suggestion, buy 2 or 3 small rubber door stops and place one under one side of the tub. It will elevate the tub a half inch and allow air to get to the soap. The soap will not only dry faster, you're avoiding a possible vacuum that may allow bacterial growth. Works great for me.Keep up the good work.
Just want to say that as someone new to wet shaving, I really enjoy how all your shaves have a tutorial feel to them as well as a review, it's very helpful!
What you do is crucial to life Nick. That Muhle R41 is aggressive for my skin. Did provide efficient shaves. May have been utilizing too much pressure for me. Regardless still enjoying the DE experience! Cheers!!
Welcome back, Nick! Super impressed with the R41 performance. Wow. I might actually consider getting one for shaving my head, which I often neglect for 2-3 weeks. Schick Adjustable and Gem 1912 are my usual go-to razors for situations that could lead to clogging, but I don't think I've tackled anything as raucous as that beard you just mowed through.
Thank God! Thought we had lost you Nick. Must say you look a lot younger without the beard! Shaved myself with the R41 today; can only manage the two passes and its the only razor that can get me BBS, pity its just too aggressive for a daily.
Wow. That was extremely impressive. Beard, nine weeks without shaving, R41 and no blood. Remarkable! I would have to get my H&H checked if I tried that.
Good to see you back Nick. Started wet shaving about 9mo ago after "happening" upon your channel. It's amazing how enjoyable it still is. Wet shaving is very satisfying. Anyway, thanks for taking the time it takes to maintain your channel.
Nice shave Nick, coincidentally I shaved of my beard too yesterday after 4 1/2 months. It was a weird experience, I actually had to get used to the size of my face again, a large beard really elongated my chin area and removing it made my face appear small. Weird transition to make. Had to spend extra time with my 4 month old son who definitely appeared spooked for a brief period. haha
Hope this means we will see more of you Nick. You do/or did have the teen wolf look down pat! That was a hell'of'a'lot of beard hair to be taking off in one go, even the R41. Proof of the pudd'n & all that was in the final result!
You're a beast. 9 weeks? I'd need another 3 to have that beard. Fantastic shave. you are very lucky to have your grandfather's razor...... my grandfather's de razors are buried in my dad's house somewhere, I'm currently looking for them and when I find them, I'll include them in one of my own videos. all the best, Gary.
I'll give you props for attacking a beard that thick with only a razor. I would have removed a good 1/4" with my electric clippers before using the razor. The R41 just passed the ultimate test.
Should've kept the stache ! I used to grow my beard out but nothing like a good clean shave. I'd like to see you review the Parker Variant adjustable if you haven't already.
Subscribed back again! Only I was disappointed you didn't go for the stache. It gives so much personality. Who cares if you're a surgeon, you should go for it!
This was very satisfying to watch haha!! Welcome back Nick, this is how we like you! However, those movember videos when you remove the beard, are the best ones
Exactly. A light touch is rewarded with an entire day of bbs. However, improper lather and/or technique will result in consequences. It truly reflects ones prowess, or lack thereof, in DE wet shaving.
Crazy! You look so different at the end of the video! You have a great looking beard!! Such a shame for a great beard to go! I can understand though how it would get in the way in your line of work. It’s so funny and interesting, when I find a video like this it always reminds me of how I’d feel after shaving. The clean smooth feeling would feel so good and satisfying!! The biggest thing I hate about shaving for me anyways is the stubble, scruff would be back within 2 days and I hate that feeling of my skin feeling like sandpaper! In the last few years I’ve grown a lot into liking to grow my facial hair out!! I’m currently on the beginning of my 12th week of my current beard I’ve been growing out! Am going to definitely keep on growing it for a good while! I love beards!!
Hi Nick. Love your videos. I used to work at Wrightington in the UK, the birth place of THR so I am familiar with the "Space suit" theatre system Mr Charnley pioneered. I agree the R41 is great but aggressive, and like you, my Merkur 34C long handle with permasharp are the perfect combo. Keep up the good work both at work and your videos :)
+UniversalExports that's amazing! Charnley is a huge inspiration of mine, he contributed so much to the world of orthopedics. I have even considered going to the U.K. for fellowship
And I am sure you are an inspiration to others! When I am there next I will take some photos of the very early theatre set ups and prosthesis he developed and send them your way.
Thank you for using a U.K artisan soap to help with your shave.I was hoping to see a before and after shot and you came through, thank you for that too.
That was awesome! He reminded me of Kurt Russell in the movie Tombstone with that moustache!! I have been using my Dad's 1986 Gillette Black Beauty with a Persona blade set on 7 or 8. Is the Muhle R41 razor more aggressive than that? I am prone to getting razor bumps and wonder if a more aggressive razor would be a bad idea for me.
HI Nick, hope you and the Family are doing good. Sure miss you shaving. Hope you can get back to making videos soon, i know that Covid put a stop to things. God bless
The face is back! Great shave Nick, after seeing the R41 properly plough through your beard I will be very careful using mine for the 1st time soon. Looking forward to more shaves. Cheers.
New to shaving, since stuck at home because of the Coronavirus and unable to get to barbershop 💈. Have to learn how to shave. Question is that I thought you had to buzz that off first then wet shave?
Hmmm..............I sold my R41 many moons ago but this video has got me hankering after it now. The head is sold most places on its own so I might just get that again.
I have to say I enjoy your wet shaving videos but you could also do a hybrid Beard care channel because you sir are quite folically gifted. I’m curious as to what beard care you did whilst growing it out? Which Oils, balms, etc?
I'm with you on the pesky beard net and ortho scrub hoods! I'm a CRNA and got sick of donning all of the beard cover gear so the beard had to go. I always got the funniest looks in pre-op. Blame JCAHO! Great video.
Nick Shaves, say when are you going to do a video using the MERKUR FUTUR? I have been thinking about buying it but, I want you to review it, I trust your judgement and would really like if you would PLEASE review this product.
Great to see you back, Nick and even better that you chose Albion to help you take 9 weeks of beard off your face :) We'd love to hear more of your thoughts on the soap. Best regards, Kerry.
Hey Nick do you have a bowel in the sink Bowel. The reason I ask is surly you are not allowing your hair go down the sink drain if not what do you do with the cut off hair.
Great video, Nick, as always. Now that your technique has improved so much since you began DE-shaving, have you recently tried shaving against the grain, just to see how your skin reacts to it?
You said the razor was pulling, this is why I'm enjoying my mild razors at this point in time. You barely feel the blade slice through the hair on a milder razor, and an aggressive razor is too much for me on one day of growth.
John Dean the R41 is in a league of it's own, if you get one then experiment with blades until you find the one that suits best BUT still then you may find it harsh !
In this situation (a long beard that needs to go bye-bye) I first use hair clippers to clear-cut the "trees". I know I know, it's not as much fun as taking down the entire beard with a razor.
Great video as always, Nick. I have to say it was kind of sad to see that terrific beard shaved off. You really do have god like genetics for facial hair!
Muhle 41 + a surgeon = Great shave🖒🖒🖒
"So today I'm gonna be using my own beard as a shaving brush to build the lather..."
Great to see you back Nick. We've missed you enormously here in the U.K.
I was loaned an R41 razor,I liked it so much I just bought one. Then I saw your video, wow it cut through your beard like a straight razor.
The Suffolk Shaver I like the R41 as well but not as an everyday shaver, my skin can't take it. My lady uses it now.
R41 didn't clog up...but i wonder how about the sink :)
Tomsterr need drain opener after that
Tomsterr he might have a fine drain screen but who knows
Razor blade 10 cents. Plumber for drain $250. Expensive shave!
@@bobpfaff2258 Any good plumber wouldn't even come out for 250. Over three was the average over by me
nick, thanks for posting and sharing this with us. I have to say that I didn't think the beard suited you, mate. Glad to see that you're back amongst the clean shaven. Cheers.
Must have been a sign from the heavens when I shaved off my 3 days weekend beard this morning with my R41 twist!
Good to see you back!
glad to see you back

Good to have you back, Nick! Loved the video. The R41 is a beast. Looking forward to seeing what you have next for us!
The Wyatt Earp mustache was looking pretty awesome!
Just want to say that as someone new to wet shaving, I really enjoy how all your shaves have a tutorial feel to them as well as a review, it's very helpful!
Nice shave Nick. Glad to see you back.
I'm glad you finally used a Muhle R41 again like in another video where you reviewed it.
What you do is crucial to life Nick. That Muhle R41 is aggressive for my skin. Did provide efficient shaves. May have been utilizing too much pressure for me. Regardless still enjoying the DE experience! Cheers!!

I think this may have been a job for the Omega Pro brush!
Thank God! Thought we had lost you Nick. Must say you look a lot younger without the beard! Shaved myself with the R41 today; can only manage the two passes and its the only razor that can get me BBS, pity its just too aggressive for a daily.
welcome back Nick, great to see you back, i work on an orthopaedic ward so know the feeling about keeping a nice clean shave
Nice to have you back Nick making shave videos in your den and that R41 is no joke. I love my R41 Rosegold.
You look about 20 years younger without the beard! Nice video man keep them coming!
Welcome back, Nick. Missed seeing your videos.
Glad you're shaving again, Nick!
Thanks for the shave again. I missed your input on soaps, brushes, and razors.
Welcome back, you were missed
Nice shave Nick, coincidentally I shaved of my beard too yesterday after 4 1/2 months. It was a weird experience, I actually had to get used to the size of my face again, a large beard really elongated my chin area and removing it made my face appear small. Weird transition to make.

Welcome back Nick. Great shave. I also love that Proraso splash. I wish that scent lasted longer.
You're a beast. 9 weeks? I'd need another 3 to have that beard. Wow that Muhle R41 sure did a number on that beard and nice to seeing you back in the shave den.
Great to see you back at it Nick! A great shave. That Muhle R41 took that beard down like going through butter! Looking forward to more videos
I'll give you props for attacking a beard that thick with only a razor. I would have removed a good 1/4" with my electric clippers before using the razor. The R41 just passed the ultimate test.

Just wanted to say that you would look AWESOME in an old style mustache!
This was very satisfying to watch haha!! Welcome back Nick, this is how we like you! However, those movember videos when you remove the beard, are the best ones
Finally! Nick shaves (again...) !
Very nice shave, thanks for sharing. The beard actually looked really good on you but I'd be tempted to shave it off too lol.
thats his shaving shirt
I use the R41 most days . People make a giant deal about it . If you use it daily you learn to be gentle and let the razor do the work.
Exactly. A light touch is rewarded with an entire day of bbs. However, improper lather and/or technique will result in consequences. It truly reflects ones prowess, or lack thereof, in DE wet shaving.
Welcome back! Good to see that beard gone and so effortlessly!
Glad more videos are on the way, I'm new to wet shaving and enjoy your content!
Nice to have a clean shaven Nick back. Lol. Great shave buddy. Fantastic products. Take care.
Great to have you back :) I've learned a lot from your videos. Happy to see the beard go too.
Nice shave!
If I had a mustache like yours, I would keep it to!😅
Great shave as always nick! Glad to see you shaving again!
glad to have you back man. nice video. a little sad to see an awesome beard go. but a happy wife makes for a happy life.
Crazy! You look so different at the end of the video! You have a great looking beard!! Such a shame for a great beard to go! I can understand though how it would get in the way in your line of work. Welcome back!
Cheers 🍻
YES, welcome back Nick, glad you're gonna be getting back into it. Also thank you for serving in the medical field.

Do a face reveal
The wonderful R41 , marvellous 😅
Good to see you back!!!!
Nice finish with the Gillette. Great shave off with the Muhle.
I use my Pearl open comb Flexi for beard shave off. It does good too.
Thank you for using a U.K artisan soap to help with your shave.I was hoping to see a before and after shot and you came through, thank you for that too.

HI Nick, hope you and the Family are doing good. Sure miss you shaving. Hope you can get back to making videos soon, i know that Covid put a stop to things. God bless
Before shaving my beard I will always use clippers first to take it down and then scoop up the hair so it doesnt clog sink
The face is back! Great shave Nick, after seeing the R41 properly plough through your beard I will be very careful using mine for the 1st time soon. Looking forward to more shaves. Cheers.
Welcome back big dawg

Sublime! Nick who shave your hairy patients pre op?
Dan Hecht gross
the Merkur 34c (long handle) is still my go to razor. Liking the Futur copy I bought recently. It can be too aggressive sometimes!
Nick Shaves, say when are you going to do a video using the MERKUR FUTUR? I have been thinking about buying it but, I want you to review it, I trust your judgement and would really like if you would PLEASE review this product.
Wow! Muhle R41 knocked down that facial brush literally on the first pass!
Are you still using the muhle r41
Your R41 is the 2011 or 2013 version? I have the 2011 version. It has a lot of blade exposure, much more than 2013
do your colleagues at work watch your videos? if so would you feel embarrassed or happy?😁
Cant believe I watched it all xd. Great video
did you wind up finding a beard balm you really liked?
Welcome back to the clean side nick
Yooooooo you’re a surgeon ? That’s cool as hell bro !
Great video, Nick, as always. Now that your technique has improved so much since you began DE-shaving, have you recently tried shaving against the grain, just to see how your skin reacts to it?
That's the old Nick! Curious why you went with the Voshkod?
You said the razor was pulling, this is why I'm enjoying my mild razors at this point in time. You barely feel the blade slice through the hair on a milder razor, and an aggressive razor is too much for me on one day of growth.

Really a shaving channel
Welcome back!
I think you look amazing with a beard, and equally amazing without it, i'm so jealous :')
best shave ever!

You are handsome either way but I LOVED the beard. You looked SO great with it.
Hi Nick. Was wondering if you own any badger hair brushes. If so how do you feel about them? I have the Parker 100% Black Badger hair brush
That beard game is strong !!!!
Great video as always, Nick. I have to say it was kind of sad to see that terrific beard shaved off. You really do have god like genetics for facial hair!
Does it clog the sink?
This was oddly satisfying to watch.
Is that the open comb version or safety bar version?
Very good video
incredible beard man
The mustache looks good on you
