Bravo! A voice with an organ sounds pristine and even better than with an orchestral accompaniment. Very precise intonation and a wonderful ensemble. The music is incredibly beautiful.

She pronounces the lyric clearly word by word. I like her style.

3 comments, my Lord!!! This is the greatest I have heard Erbarme Dich. The pronunciation and sustain is incredible. The speed really demonstrates mastery, most rush through this song. Laura, were you born with an extra lung tucked away somewhere? This goes for your other videos as well, but this is a personal favorite. Please upload more in the future. Truly beautiful. Jesse

My friends and family show me videos of the greatest classical performances they've seen (since I'm the classical musician/fan), but they're always mainstream so so performances. Sometimes they share an opera or a piece with singing, to sort of say, "see, I like listening to great musicians too". I'm sorry Laura, but you're kind of my "yea that's pretty good, but they're still human", example. This is what happens when God and Bach decide to sprinkle a little magic dust on one of the humans, probably while having coffee in the clouds. I know you'll have technical reasons why you'll believe that's the opinion of someone who is just a "listener" and not someone who really knows what to listen for, and it's true that I'm just a classical guitarist so I can't give a professional evaluation of your performance. But I'm also not ruined by the obsession over technicalities that students often get consumed by, or the current consensus on what is or isn't the "correct" way. I can only imagine you've hit every goal by that criteria, but outside of that, through the ears and mind of a true lover of Bach, you've also hit some of the criteria that has yet to be defined by musical vocabulary. I'm sure you would agree that the true magic, beauty, and meaning of music has only been roughly described with words, especially the deep uncharted world of Bach, and I thought you should know that, since my observations only speak to a certain reality, and not my own uniqueness, that your performances are adding in, or rather including, aspects of musicality that is very enjoyable and marvelous, and that is outside of the technical markers that all vocalists try to achieve. I know your peers can tell you why you're good, but I fear they may limit themselves to the vocabulary and universal goals of the art, because it is easy to confine yourself to those parameters one you have a general mastery and understanding of them. While the opinions of "listeners" are hardly valued by classical musicians (because they really don't know and therefore appreciate what all you're doing), I'd like for you to humor the validity of my impression because it is made with much careful thought and a sharp ear to what influences the mind when we hear something that stands out to us, and why we like it. On that subject, we still know very little, but if we advance our understanding of why we're moved by music, maybe we'll be able to compliment performances like yours with more specificity in the future. But for now, I'll just wrap it up by saying that in this video, and in your others, you are executing (purposely or by your own unique nature and approach) aspects of musicality that I surely can't define, and I know for certain no one else can either. And that's outside of all the ways it can be complimented on, or critiqued by the common musical vernacular. I don't comment much on videos, but it needed to be said. You have a legit fan in Florida. This will be playing in my machine shop while today's BMW motorcycle valve adjustment is performed, and thanks to you, she's going to be just perfecto!

It’s a pity, so long and sophisticated message to a person who will not be able to read this
