When I started watching videos about ADHD, I began to understand part of the reason I'm so exhausted by the end of the day. We're expending so much more energy than neurotypical people to do the same things!
Lmao I hang my keys and fobs on my door so I literally CAN'T forget them on my way out and I set a reminder to check the weather the night before to see if I ALSO need to hang my umbrella there. Anywhere I need to sit down, I will hook my umbrella handle onto my bag which is one of the few things I DON'T ever forget because if I hook/lean it on a table/chair/wall I will DEFINITELY forget it. If I need to take out the trash on my way out, there have been dozens of occasions where I got to the lift, stepped into the lift and IMMEDIATELY stepped back out cursing to run back and grab it because the smell means I can't take it out in advance. Or got home and realised I forgot lol. Also, forgetting things or getting distracted on my way is why I always set alarms to go off every 5 mins in the hour before I need to leave the house so I know how much time I have left, and I mark my set out time on my calendar calculating Google Maps walking time x2 for my slow walking speed and distractions, then add a 30 mins cushion. It means I often end up early to things but it's much better than the alternative. (I may have been vaguely traumatised by an occasion in high school where on a lunch break I got hyperfocused on a book, didn't hear the bell or everyone around me leaving, got there 20 minutes into class and subsequently got scolded and humiliated in front of 40 people who I already knew looked down on me...)
My phone goes off ALL day long, I have so many alarms and reminders. I can't live without it. I have to pick up my daughter from school every day, but 2 of the days are at different times than the rest of the week. Just yesterday I spaced it was one of the different days and showed up over an hour early. I now have a *new* reminder in my phone that when my "lunch" alarm goes off on Thursdays, it does NOT mean I have to leave soon to pick her up...
Once I was sitting in the living room, watching the television show. I got up, went down the hallway past the bathroom, past my room into my bedroom ending up in my room. When I got there, I had no idea why I got up why I walked down the hallway or why I ended up in my bedroom. So I went back to living room and sat down to watch TV again . This happened four times before I realized why I got up in the first place.
That's why I'm always late. I forget things and have to go back home to get them. Sometimes, they are already with me but I only notice them after wasting a lot of time😢😢

Excellent 😂 I just returned from my evening walk.. Walked back to collect my umbrella after walking quite a bit...(As it may rain) And yes...am guilty of losing many umbrellas 😂
I use the late Dave Allen method, and make the sign of the cross when I leave the house, which refers to Spectacles, Testicles, Wallet and Watch (or mobile phone as an update to technology). Although, I might look rather silly adding other movements for, house keys, car keys, lunch/shopping bag...oh and the reason for going out in the first place! Then outside the door, there is checking I locked it, walk away, walk back...check. Walk further, and then be worried for the rest of the time away whether I did in fact lock the door, which is then even worse if I use my car! Lol!
Lol I got it from Austin Powers (Mike Myers). But I'm female so "testicles" represent my keys, "spectacles" is my sunglasses, and "watch" means my phone.
For me a straight umbrella is a single use item. I'll lose it anyway, so I never buy them anymore. A foldable umbrella with a waterproof case is much better. And of course, I put all my stuff in a single bag when I leave the house. Anything brought out in hands never comes back home.
Here's a good one. Rewind the TV because you missed something you wanted to hear, push play, and then pick up your phone and start doing something else. Over and over. Hate that lol.
U missed the part when u out the umbrella down, walk and talk in the phone for a bit, then look around in a mini panic because you lost your umbrella. 😂
The pacing while talking on the phone hit hard. I do this all the time, obliges it's a lengthy ordinal call with a friend, but anything else, making appointments, booking a tradesperson etc, always pacing my house!
My coping mechanism is to always check myself for what I came with to a place, that way I ensure it's all on me before leaving. Even now, when someone goes to a place with me, I'm the one that will tell them that they aren't holding something they came with. My brain helps with cataloging someone when we go to a place together, so I notice all they have on their body, if they lose an item, I will know something is off even if I can't remember what exactly, but if it's something conspicuous like a bag or book, I would remind them. I have had to learn these tricks over the years though. Another example is ensuring I listen to the key turning in the keyhole when I'm locking my door, so that when my mind goes back to it as I go about my day, I will use the sound registered in my mind to assure myself I didn't forget to lock the door. But then again, I still forget silly things, watch a movie and not remember some scenes, getting to the end of a page in a novel without remembering how i got there or the event that was narrated there. 😢 If you also notice things that other people don't notice, share your experience under this comment please.
My mind screamed: "don't put the umbrella down!!!! It's gonna stay there..." I never put anything anywhere out of direct sight or touch out of my own home. otherwise I would forget everything anywhere 😂
This channel and comment section feels like a relatable comfortable home to me, everyone is so hilarious and admits their faults without embarrassment just like how i do guess we ADHD are all the same braincells
I've been doing loads of research but this quick video really hits the nail on the head. I can relate to all of these things, especially not being able to fricking sit still whilst on the phone!! Wow I think I'm going to start filing out my adhd questions forms!
I sit, but I usually start fidgeting, drawing or scrolling my email or social media after half an hour. That doesn’t preclude my staring at trees, engaging with passerby, or playing with my feet (after removing my shoes and sitting cross legged on the bench or moving to the grass so I can do so).
Hahaha the walking and talking on the phone is so spot on. I physically get uncomfortable if I’m talking on the phone and not moving. I think the only place where I’m still and on the phone would be the car and even then I’m driving most of the time 😂
This is why it’s good to have a system/setup by the door, and solid habits to prevent this from happening. It took me years to develop this, but once in the door, keys and anything else in pants pockets goes on the shelf by the door, and things in my coat stay in my coat, I just hang it up by the door (for the most part the only exception to the keys thing is if I’m doing something that keeps me close by like taking out the garbage). I solve the umbrella situation by never using any of the 3 I own (probably because I’m from Seattle and if I actually used one I’d look like an out of towner 😅) The phone one, I usually just put in my AirPods and keep doing whatever I was doing or go for a walk if I would be disturbing someone nearby with my talking.
Nope, i rarely forget things. On the contrary, things are always in the back of my mind when I’m doing things that it overwhelms me. If i leave my umbrella there to talk on the phone, i ll keep thinking about the umbrella and keep telling myself not to forget it after i’m done that i might not notice what the person is saying over the phone 😢. Also it’s not only the umbrella, but all the other stuff that I have to do after i hang up that keep knocking on my brain 😢
Thank you. It helps so mutch to know that many of us in aktio n like this. I gives me a Good feeling so i can accept my self. ALL is Good. "We don't have to be so fast like the outside World." I mean that the World we Life is so Full of Informations. That has changed! Not that we all getting Sick. 😊 🙏🏻❤🙌🏻Sending Love to all. 🌞🎭🌚
My life is in every one of your video's it's so funny. I only recently found out last year that I have ADHD. I'm now 34. Wondering why I did things differently to most people.
Truth… saw the umbrella left behind as you were dysregulated from an intense conversation 😅. I’ve done that with my phone several times. So upset, I forgot where I left my phone, unless I throw it across the room; I remember where it is then. Fortunately, I loose the phone more than throwing it. 😊
Losing the umbrella is the most typical. Normally I lose my stuff when using the car. I put my kids in, and the stuff on the rooftop - fully aware I'll forget about it if I do, but convince myself to not forget about it this time. Then I take off with the stuff left.
YES! I had to remember "phone wallet keys" every time I reached for the doorknob. It got to the point that every time I touch the doorknob now, it automatically triggers "phone wallet keys" 😂
my garage is downstairs from my main floor. i can’t remember the number of times i’ve been in the car ready to back out to leave for work when i’ve remembered i left my sunglasses or something else and have to run upstairs to get it!
This me...I go back like 4 times, because either I did not count if all my four cats are at home, or I'm not sure if my straightening iron is turned off ...or if the stovetop is turned off (even if I didnt turn it on in first place) and lastly I forgot my umbrella only to realize I got it with me in my backpack. 😂
Spot on .. with the “ADHD” he didn’t even check to make sure the door locked or closed he just saw it closed and was like “okay good enough” having ADHD… you always do little things too much and some on other occasions don’t do the little things enough like .. check the door, it’s like exhausting to think about 😂
I always use to take sometimes so much with me, just that I really can't forget something. Often I struggle hard with being finished fresh, for work.. So if I can't make it on time, I just put the things in my backpack, take it to work and make it there finish before it actually starts. Sometimes I really even have a stand-mirror with myself 😭 and in the end I forgot still my shoes and find me there at work, in my house-shoes.. And who the hell is able to sit while calling. My legs are automatically starting to walk if I talk with my phone.
Yes, except you get caught on the door first or somehow bruise yourself coming out the door instead 🤣 & if in an urban area, manage to set off car alarms carrying your umbrella.
Every time I set something down in a public place I say to myself (in my head) “don’t forget x thing”. This has actually been working the last few weeks. I got really tired of leaving my phone in public bathrooms or leaving it at home.
Few day ago, I went to this really nice park for yoga, so just threw my specs around as if I am in my room. I might have moved around a bit while practicing. Upon completing, of course I needed specs. Then the sudden realisation of not being able to see where exactly I kept it freaked me out. For the first 15 minutes I was acting like a a dog looking for ball like crazy. Only after this, I had to seek help from a person who was just around the corner. I think it was embarrassing but funny.
Not me tossing and spinning my phone then catching like a fidget while listening to music . I mean yeah it falls on the ground but thankfully there is little or no damage to it, it works perfectly fine even after 5 yrs, planning to buy a new one and maybe I'll pass this one onto my nephew or niece.
That's so true, only I would go back in the house 2 more times

If you also notice things that other people don't notice, share your experience under this comment please.
I always forget things, and I always have to pace when I'm in yhe phone 😂
As soon as he put down the umbrella. Gone forever.
My mind screamed: "don't put the umbrella down!!!! It's gonna stay there..." I never put anything anywhere out of direct sight or touch out of my own home. otherwise I would forget everything anywhere 😂
Yes, so true. I have lost quite a few umbrellas through the years. 😊
Wow
I think I'm going to start filing out my adhd questions forms!
Swinging the umbrella was spot on. Sometimes I snap in rhythm while I walk. Got to keep the hands busy.
I solve the umbrella situation by never using any of the 3 I own (probably because I’m from Seattle and if I actually used one I’d look like an out of towner 😅)
The phone one, I usually just put in my AirPods and keep doing whatever I was doing or go for a walk if I would be disturbing someone nearby with my talking.
Can't believe how accurate this is.
But also proves that we can act normal.
I make lists on my phone of things i need to remember. Which is great until i forget my phone somewhere. 😅 🤦
Umbrella stays in my car for emergency use. I now use jackets with hoods!!
Love it! Lets see I am up to umbrella number 15? Lost count. Also lost ones that were lent to me! LOL
@@pamelaranney6631 Where do all our lost umbrellas go?

Love this.. You skipped getting our jumpers caught on the handle tho 😂
Losing the umbrella is the most typical. Normally I lose my stuff when using the car. I put my kids in, and the stuff on the rooftop - fully aware I'll forget about it if I do, but convince myself to not forget about it this time. Then I take off with the stuff left.
You forgot the bit where you went back for the umbrella and left your keys behind, locking yourself out.
Bless his ❤ heart 😢 leaving my apartment is sooo stressful!
Even when I'm holding the umbrella in my hands, I go back for it lol.
Im sitting here thinking "man if that dudes walks off and leaves that umbrella." 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Omg yes! I constantly reach for my pockets exactly like that! 😂
That's why I never bought an umbrella my entire life
Leaving the broil made me the hole reel is accurate
YES! I had to remember "phone wallet keys" every time I reached for the doorknob. It got to the point that every time I touch the doorknob now, it automatically triggers "phone wallet keys" 😂
finally i understand what this means, i was so confused and i ve seen so many talking about this, but nothing was clear. non adhd here, no hate.
my garage is downstairs from my main floor. i can’t remember the number of times i’ve been in the car ready to back out to leave for work when i’ve remembered i left my sunglasses or something else and have to run upstairs to get it!
Relatable! Lost my GoPro at the Great Barrier Reef whilst scuba diving due to this exact thing! 😅🥺
And always check 3 times if the stove top is turned off, although I did not even use it. Just to make sure 😂
The swinging umbrella 😅 and all the rest too
Spot on .. with the “ADHD” he didn’t even check to make sure the door locked or closed he just saw it closed and was like “okay good enough” having ADHD… you always do little things too much and some on other occasions don’t do the little things enough like .. check the door, it’s like exhausting to think about 😂
not only do i double check if i have my keys but i run back inside make sure windows are closed an electronics are off lol
The second one was literally me yesterday when I went out and decided to go back just to take umbrella...
Yes, except you get caught on the door first or somehow bruise yourself coming out the door instead 🤣
& if in an urban area, manage to set off car alarms carrying your umbrella.
Oh I often hit the front door with my shoulder while in a hurry after going back in 2 times.
Clumsy, not focussed idk.
😂 😂😂
So real… I lose things all the time because I just forget I put them down 😢
Its always the items i carry w me every single time i leave the house that i forget the most
Every time I set something down in a public place I say to myself (in my head) “don’t forget x thing”.
This has actually been working the last few weeks. I got really tired of leaving my phone in public bathrooms or leaving it at home.
Get the umbrella, leave the keys or the cell phone 😂
The second guy is painfully relatable, but you can’t convince me that this doesn’t apply to everyone😂
This is SO relatable
Adhd is literally me 😂😅😢
Jep 😅 forgetting the umbrella 🌂 ⛈️
I always forget where I leave my wallet and phone, but thank gosh my watch tells me where my phone is at 😂
Few day ago, I went to this really nice park for yoga, so just threw my specs around as if I am in my room.
I so violated and understood all at once😂
Lol the umbrella. With me it's anything. It has to be physically touching me and I would notice if it drops or else there's a high chance I'll forget.
😂 love it 🤭
Not me tossing and spinning my phone then catching like a fidget while listening to music .
I mean yeah it falls on the ground but thankfully there is little or no damage to it, it works perfectly fine even after 5 yrs, planning to buy a new one and maybe I'll pass this one onto my nephew or niece.
Good one! Forrealz 😂
Im a mix of both. If im feeling good im like the 1st one if my mood is already ruined i can speed up the 2nd one😂
I almost forgot my umbrella today exactly the same as the video lol
