In Japan, Personal computers and the like are generally viewed as things to use in offices, especially during 2006 when this is set. PCs at home was viewed as more of a hikkimori thing. In more average household At most you'd see a laptop or a gaming console. Same with flip-phones being a more commonplace casual thing than smartphones. Things like pc gaming didn't take off in Japan properly till like 2020 and even now you have japanese gaming companies refusing to view pcs as anything more than work tool and not seeing it as a platform for games.
Every season of Monogatari just has such a wide arrange of animations and aesthetic to them, they are all are so unique. Also this arc has so much hard images of Araragi saying cool lines, my fave being during the end of the arc.
I want to point out just how absolutely stunning the transitions in the opening are. The song itself is great but together with the visuals its definitely one of my favorites at least of the ones we have seen so far. We did see some scenes of golden week back in Tsubasa Cat but it will b much more in depth here especially about the themes of the arc. We had a lot of talk about Araragis love and Hanekawas family so it will probably go more into this in the next episodes. Lastly i kinda wanna mention again that it could be useful to have a paper on hand where you write down the dates of the arcs. You dont have to but it would really come in handy because it will get very complicated not too long from now.
It actually took me a little bit ot realize this was a flashback to the first Hanekawa cat story. Again, for me Hanekawa's arcs are the best for me. The OP and ED are bangers as well. Well, the OP is a bit more ballad like but the visuals are awesome. I guess it's supposed to be Beatles like.
This arc was partially seen in Bakemonogatari as you say, but it also expands and changes some key details, so it can be considered a retcon of sorts. Possibly this occurs because this novel (2010), is the first one that appeared subsequent to Bakemonogatari anime (2009).
it's 2006 in story, in LN it took Araragi 80 pages to get out of the house, Hanekawa's mother hung herself above the baby Hanekawa, the working theory is "Karen and Tsukihi don't actually have any boyfriends, cuz look at them, would you be able to be Tsukuhi's boyfriend?", it's one of the few fully not-addressed internally scenes in the story but - Araragi flipping Hanekawa skirt and doing all of the "questionable stuff" - is his way to change subject and lighten up the mood, Hanekawa recognized it immediately - and called him kind.
Karen's boyfriend Mizudori - "auspicious bird" Tsukihi's boyfriend Rousokuzawa - "candle" (ergo burning beeswax) Those who are in the know, know. Wink wink
