Learn Doubling Technique The FUN Way - Play Thunderstruck On The Bagpipe Chanter
HTML-код

- The earliest embellishments beginner pipers learn on the practice chanter is doublings and grace notes. This tune has them both! And who doesn't like a bit of ACDC or Rock 'n' Roll on the bagpipes?! Get not be note instruction on how to play my version of Thunderstruck. The top-hand part is a bit simplified from the "normal" version.

Happy to help! What other instruments do you play Mikey? I've found learning new instruments as an adult is totally possible, but it can be hard work... we have to be having fun to make our brains willing to persist!

Thanks for your comment Diego! What embellishments do you find the most challenging right now?
@@GetBagpipeReady uff... "The grip (leumluath) and the "taorluath" and to be honest I have problems understanding when to use "strikes". Also the "thumb birl" is hard (excuse me for the loooong list)
@@diegocalvorodriguez I really do appreciate the long list Diego!! It gives me ideas for future videos. Thank you!!
I always wanted to learn modern rock songs. Hope you have more to come tutorials on rock songs on bagpipes???

ruclips.net/video/bzniEYrVyNo/видео.html 😀
Thanks for giving all these tips, but it would be very nice if you could teach the following parts which are as challenging as the first part. Cheers from Brazil!
Thanks for the feedback Fabiano! I wish I could teach the following parts also, but unfortunately, that is as much of the tune that I play. Good luck!
@@GetBagpipeReady Thanks for answering and keep up the good work!
@@fabianovpaixao Thanks for the encouragement 😀
sheet music? can you post a link and refer to bar numbers? sorry, that's the only way I can learn. Love your videos. Great job.
Hi Joanne, Unfortunately, I don't have sheet music for this one, maybe one day! If you learn better with the sheet music, I do have sheet music with the bars highlighted for each lesson for most of my tune workshops at my site under "workshops": www.getbagpipeready.com/
@@GetBagpipeReady Okay, I'm trying to get your free sheet music downloaded. I have the HIghland Academy book and that's been great. I've been starting on those tunes. The tunes aren't bad, but I am still really struggling with embellishments, but I think I will eventually get them if I just keep on practicing and practicing! Love your videos. Love you.
Good to hear you are practicing! You've got this!
The correct doubling is a D doubling on C and it makes a huge difference. It's a very awkward embellishment for newer players because our ring fingers are the least coordinated but it's worth mastering. The same embellishment is in Blair Drummond. The 2nd part is to lift the middle finger of the top hand to play the hidden F natural
Cool! Thanks for the comment! The version I present is purposefully meant to be as easy as possible for beginners. Not saying there aren't other ways to better replicate the tune on the pipes for those who are wanting more! 😀
I’m with Alec on the D Doubling GE. The more you do it the easier it becomes and I love this movement. Also helps with the GDE pattern which is kinda important in Jigs
Thanks Jeremy! Yes, GDE use very important for jigs 😀
Looks easy, but trying to keep my fingers going.......Lol. Love it definitely going to learn this one. Cheers
awesome Marcel!!! Making it look easy is one thing... But don't worry!! If you love the tune, you'll persist and you Will get it!
Absolutely awesome 💙👍
Thank you! Julio, Cheers!
thank you so much ❤❤❤
You're welcome 😊
Awesome lessons
Thanks! 😃
You on the west coast, Vancouver area? You do lessons?
Hey Alex copper head road went excellent. Now they want me to learn thunderstruck for next year. Would you have the music for that to? Thx for your help
Glad Copperhead road went well Patricia! well done!! I don't have sheet music for Thunderstruck, I've just played it by ear. I play a bit of a simplified version. I do know that Gordan Duncan has written sheet music, although I havn't seen it. I'm sure you could find where to purchase it if you Google him. Good luck!
@@GetBagpipeReady thx for all your help. I will try to follow the vedio you have posted and look other gentleman up.

какой производитель у вашего practice chanter?
Thanks for watching! You can get a practice chanter at a bagpipe supply store. hope that helps!
@@GetBagpipeReady I have CC Great Highland Bagpipes Practice Chanter Rosewood Black Silver.
I don’t understand what a stream of air should be to get g#.
The tuner shows on the note g# -NOTE F#
I probably have a different system of tools
Bagpipes are in a different tuning than standard tuning. The are a B minor scale, but our "low A" is at 480 hz instead of 440 hz. on top of that the intervals between the bagpipe notes is different than the intervals of conventional music. Practice chanters tend to be flatter than the highland pipe chanters... confusing to say the least! Don't worry about the tuner if you have the correct fingering. Putting some tape on the top edge of the hole can flatten the tone it it sounds too sharp. Hope that helps!
@@GetBagpipeReady Thanks, I hope it helps.
Your music is inspiring☘️☘️☘️🙂
Thanks!
Ima teach this as a slow march and see how far my band will get before they figure it out.
love it! 😂
thx4posting
My pleasure!
I was expecting this guy to sound like groundskeeper Willie.
Haha 😂 If only, if only...
Hell yeah
Oh Ya!!!
Where can I get sheet music for this ?
I haven’t written music for my easier version. I don’t have it, but I’d recommend getting Gordon Duncan’s writing of Thunderstruck for the Bagpipes.
Placing my fingers on the lower holes does not impacr sound for my Cantor.
Great comment! It may not make a difference on the practice chanter, but it will change the tone on the pipe chanter so it's good to get used too. Placing the fingers down on the pipe chanter also helps stabalize it when playing the higher notes.
How to play The Rogues song?
Please we want to Learn this song on bagpipes.
Thanks for the comment Prabin 😀 do you have a link to this song??
