I have one, bought about two years ago biking 40+ years and never had a scooter never even sat in one and love it. When I got it I had three different iterations of the GS but earlier this year swapped them for an RT. I think it’s wrong to say it’s just a bit of a commuter or town bike my wife goes on the pillion and it sits easily at motorway speeds or more, it tops out at over 90mph. They are expensive but I bought a two year old with 300 miles for a bit under five thousand. Rack with expandable Shad box and can easily take two on a tour or a day out. I ride it all year, use it a a second car. Finally it’s not a moped in any sense.
Great video. I have a C400GT and ride it more than the other 2 motorcycles I have. It it comfortable, practical, economical, fast enough and inconspicuous. Love it!
I have a 2007 Yamaha 400cc. Majesty.with 40000km on it did complete overhaul .not cheep, but love the Scooter so I bought an other one a 2009 with 20000 km on it runs like new .is fast 160 km\hr but they are all heavy to push around or put on Centre Stand.had many Bikes, but love the comfort and protection of Maxi Scooters . Next one will be a BMW c400 !
I bought my 400GT 3 years ago. Only use it for tours. I did 2 tours around my country, about 5000+ km each. The others were shorter tours. An amazing bike. Very comfortable and a joy to ride. Very powerful for its size.
Thank you Ross! You have helped me make up my mind to buy the C400GT. As an ex Brit now living in Aus, I sold my last bike a couple of years ago, a Kawasaki Z900RS. Beautiful bike but (I'm ancient at 67) would give me backaches after any longer ride. So, now looking for something much more comfortable and cheaper to run. Have looked at a Vespa 300GTS SuperSport, the Yamaha X-Max 300 and the Honda Forza 350. Why a scooter? Just got back from a month in Italy and they were everywhere. Because they are practical for zipping around and easy to use. Like your channel and have subscribed, keep up the good work 😊
Had one of these on loan and it worked a treat, quick, comfy and a blast to ride. Unfortunately the CVT Belt and Valve Clearances need doing every 12K miles along with a fork oil change. So if you are going to put any mileage on the thing it will be very expensive to service.
That is just a BMW recommendation and over servicing is not necessary; it is a Kymco after all un der that BMW badge! Just change oil and filter yourself at home once per year and it will run for years. Change the belt when it makes a excessive noise. No damage will be done and you will save $1000s on expensive BM servicing. Stay sane.
Avoid like the plague. I bought one, travelled uk to norway, loved it but….there is a bad noise from drive train that dealers are unable to cure. Bmw not interested in resolving. Whizz wheel failed. Corrosion on frame in places (chinese made). Locking fuel cap failed on tour, had to unbolt 6 x allen key bolts each time i filled. Local bmw dealer couldnt look at for 2 months as busy fixing gs’s. Developed bad brake judder after 1k mikes, disc replaced. Very small under seat. Recommend buy a honda adv350 instead. Bmw struggling to shift these even with price drop. If buying second hand make sure get latest version as first iteration was riddled with even more faults. I lost £3k on a new one after 12 months but was relieved to get rid.
Nice Kymco with expensive BM badges on it. Yes, C400 which is really only a 350; so sad! Why not do as I did and buy a real Kymco like the AK550 Premium made in Philipines for Australia or Taiwan for UK market. Yes, BMW had the older C600 and C650GT scooters made by Kymco. They just charged the unwary: extra wallet emptier fees for the Chinese made BMW badges to go on it. LOL Love both my Kymcos: the AK550 and the smaller big wheeled Agility 300. Both make me smile every time I ride em. Your channel is OK by the way...
I have the use of a burgman 400 and a honda cl 500 i ride the burgman the most and thats after owning 35 motorbikes good review. Looks like you were around Thornbury nice area
35 thats a good number, i feel rubbish being on number 26! Yes just north of Thornbury, is where i tend to ride and film as a good mix of roads Would be great if you would subscribe.
Careful, the Voge SR400 has 28,9hp vs 34 hp for the BMW C400GT. A review made by a french newspaper about these two near similar scooters noticed the difference, especially on the highway.
I don't know why you would refer to it as a moped. Technically, a moped is a motorcycle which has pedals capable of turning the engine, an engine which has a very small capacity, say 50cc. It can, just, be ridden like a motorcycle with the engine switched off. I doubt if you can actually buy a new "moped" now. But you are right about no one actually wanting to buy it. This machine is woefully over priced at nigh on £8000 (with heated seat etc as shown). Buy a Honda Forza.
I honestly didn’t really consider the difference between a moped/scooter until a previous comment. I’ve never owned either or even considered owning. Thank you for your comment though! Would be great if you hit subscribe!
I agree with most you say. One question: how about suspension travel? I do have a '09 Aprilia Atlantic Sprint 500. Nice bike, but... comfort on bad roads is not that good. And, even with a large topcase, storage space is not better than that on my 1150GS (with panniers and top box). And you said it... scooters are just not cool! It is a vehicle you buy with your head, not with your hart.
I took it on very bad single track roads that day and it did really well, thats why i took it out there to see how it would perform, as its obvious its good in the city.. Would be great if youd consider subscribing
3:55 that is not how that works. Since those are both relatively small capacity engines they go thru the revs like crazy. Meaning that 1800 revs that c400gt has more torque lasts about 0.1 to 0.2 sec if you are on it.
i know how it works thank you, it was a comparison for comparisons sake, one is a 400cc single and the other is a 1000cc 4 cyl, thank you for your comment tough
