  • Composed by Niko Tuia, first performed by Tokelau Hutt Valley for the 1998 Tokelau Easter Tournament held in Taupo.
In this digital video the Fātele is performed by the current youth members of the Tokelau Hutt Valley community. The words of the Fātele connect us to the history of Gagana Tokelau and the narratives of the past and present. The pokihi, the movement and actions of the Fātele take us on the journey expressing the narratives and stories of these songs.
Video by P&L Ltd, Fraser Rudman on behalf of Tokelau Hutt Valley Sports & Culture Association and ACE Aotearoa.
This work was supported through an ACE Aotearoa Professional Development Grant.
