    I want to move back to Europe after getting my CPA too! For those interested, there are lots of opportunities for American CPAs in public accounting abroad, especially in capital cities and larger metropolitan areas. From my understanding, the demand is because American companies with offices abroad have to be GAAP and SOX compliant everywhere. I've seen job ads for senior and manager positions in Paris and Brussels specifically for American CPAs. You do need to be fluent in the language of your destination though. Just thought I'd share because I used to live in Belgium so I got to know the job market. :) Also your Q&A videos are some of my favorites, thank you!!

      While its better to have a cpa over nothing there are many european countries that have their own. In Germany its called wirtschaftsprüfer and its probably double the work load of a cpa. Unless its a highly americanized company it wont really matter if you are a cpa or not.

      @@villegas24 Yes, I thought that it being ideal to have the target country’s native license, e.g. DSCG (diplôme de comptabilité et de gestion) for France, etc. went without saying. But for any who would not have interpreted that then yes. For most American job searchers though, that would mean completing an entire second accounting degree and taking another set of licensure exams, which for most isn’t realistically feasible.

    Master of Accountancy is more focused toward passing the CPA than an MBA. The MBA itself is completely saturated.

    I totally agree about the CPA v. MBA. Every job posting I see for my current situation and my ‘dream’ jobs in accounting always say “CPA preferred” .

    A CPA is both a designation and a certification, which ensures a high level of technical skills and professionalism. It is a widely sought out credential, as I’ve found in my years of experience as a CPA in public accounting (both tax and audit), as well as my experience working in a publicly traded company (internal audit). A master’s degree is great, too, but I agree that the CPA “packs the most punch”.

    How did you set time aside to study for the cpa exam and stay focused? Also, how did you not allow a bad day at work to throw you off your studying plan as well as all other unplanned and unforeseen events?

    I am taking intermediate accounting right now and I still feel iffy about majoring in accounting. Not sure what to do at this point. Anybody have any suggestions?

    • @WithStephie
      @WithStephie  4 года назад +2

      Honestly, I hated intermediate accounting too! It's hard at times to understand how the concepts will be practical in your future career but I promise that actual accounting/auditing is interesting. You just have to get the basic concepts down. I guess it depends on why you feel iffy about majoring in accounting, I have a couple of videos on why accounting may / may not be for you.... maybe those can help give food for thought :)

    Hi there, i have a random question. How do you get all your notes in one place in a note book? We have notes taken from the lecture, read the book and practice questions into one notebook? I see all the CPA students have one note book and have all the notes in one place. Can you please share some ideas.

    Hey stephie,
    Do you think accounting jobs will be unneeded with modern technology(in the next 10-15 years) or pursuing a bachelors degree in accounting is not the best idea with today’s advancement in software? rather purse a degree in business technology

    Do you recommend doing ACCA ( becoming a chartered accountant) without getting a bachelor degree first? And would you recommend someone do the Oxford degree from ACCA If they don't have a degree and is doing ACCA? (Anyone with information please reply)

    • @elisapierre247
      @elisapierre247 5 лет назад +1

      My mother has has her ACCA certification for a very long time. She does not recommend doing it without a bachelor's, although it can be done. It seems to be more brutal than the CPA and some background would be helpful.

    Im from Australia. Getting accounting job here is hard since lots people take it for the sake of immigration. And networking is the only way to get jobs here. After graduate, I took Ethic, Financial Reporting and Global Stategy and get a pass. It wasnt a great result, but the surprising thing is I cramped everything in 2 weeks and I passed.No class taken just reading material. Im a type of student who like challenge and want to learn lots of things, so CPA Australia is disappointing to me. I may move to the States to practice my career. Who here feels relatable and can explain to me what happens to CPA Australia???Or Im studying in the wrong way cus I feel the opposite to what Step said.

    I have just completed a year in public accounting. I'm thinking about what the next step would be for me after transitioning into industry. I'm also really interested in internal audit, can you please make a video about how it is to move from external to internal audit and a bit about what a job in internal audit is like.
    I've been loving your videos lately please keep them coming😍
