As a god of sorcery, poetry and writing, I always thought Odin's kit massively neglected his most prominent depictions as a shapeshifting wiseman obsessed with obtaining knowledge, instead choosing to focus almost entirely on his more occasional roles as a wartime leader. Glad to see he got a little bit of int scaling, but I was really hoping to see his abilities reframed to feel much more magical to justify making him primarily int with less major Strength benefits. You could say Loki has the same issue to an even larger extent, being reduced to "world of warcraft rogue" for much of smite's history, but at least people seem more aware of that one being an awkward fit, and they've at least managed to slap him into a playstyle that can feel a bit more trickery focused. At least neither are as egregious as Bacchus.

I do hope they change their philosophy about gods and actually promote skill expression unlike smite 1 which is very skill capped. I would like more gods who are actually not brain dead .
Smite 1 is low skill cause they prioritize building instead of actual fighting skills, that's why most players pick a brain dead glass cannnon or bullet sponge
How? What do you mean? Can you give example please? Most, if not all, the skill comes from positioning, reaction, timing, ability and auto attack consistency, and game knowledge (map awareness; match ups; item building, combos). Almost every gods kits are easy to use. All the alpha smite 2 gods are easy to use. It's just a question of how experienced the player playing the god is.
@@cybzer0560 That's exactly the problem. Gods in smite are way too easy because that's the direction high rez is going for. Persephone on release is a great example of that. It would have been way better if he threw the shield like he used to but instead of staying where it’s thrown it’s like a boomerang. If the shield hits, the current alpha ability triggers centered on the shield before returning to Zeus and giving him the attack speed, etc. I just don’t like the ability being centered on Zeus himself because it makes no sense with the rest of his kit in mind
Anyone remember why Loki's 2 got changed? It was because it was too strong at farming. So explain to me why his 2 is allowed to farm damage from the safety of distance, stealth, and ultimate for escape? His 2 is still only used for abuse of item proc effects and for an auto cancel and his 3 is also only used in niche situations where you can avoid knockbacks or knockups, also is canceled early for a auto cancel. So his 2 is still unhealthy for the game and just a bad ability and his 3 is still too long to actually use for dmg, disappointed overall. I really wish his 2 could be a controllable decoy that could change all of his abilities for preplanning setup or utility abilities. Just make his 3 600ms but uncancelable, 1.5 seconds down from 1.8 for his 3 is good but people have a reaction time of 250ms average so he is still getting stunned or outdamaged while channeling. His ult stun got nerfed from a 1 second stun to .75? It was already hard enough trying to get value out of a 1 second stun that put a squishy character near enemies but now it's shorter? Just make the stun last longer the more people hit. They never talked about his invis being loud enough for it to be impossible to gank with when they hear you from 80 units of distance? Old Loki could stealth far away not be heard AND have the jump on people like a STEALTH character would. Still have to mask my invis sound behind my team or the enemy gods sound effects.

First take: smite looks like ots becoming league which i think is a TERRIBLE decision. In League any champ can potentially work in any role. Which is fun until its not, and you have one champ thats overtuned dominating like 3 different role positions, and is a balancing nightmare bc theres no clear vision on what the champ is supposed to do, so they either do everything or nothing. Even if smite decides to go this route, they cant beat League at it, smite is bound by its identity aesthetic: battle ground of the gods, so certain mechanics are limited to the feel and aesthetic of the game, in League, anything can be a champ. A cosmic sky dragon or a psychopathic artistic serial killer whose obsessed with the number 4. Smite's identity successfully sets it apart from league but that identity limits it, and imo not in a bad way. If smite starts trying to be like League, i think its going to fail.
Played like half a day and went back to Smite 1. The game is clearly made to appeal to League heads and DOTA fans more than it's made for Smite 1 fans.
