For anyone wondering, this kind of caramel is actually called dulce de leche and can be bought canned at the store in case you are too lazy to make it yourself. There are also recipes online make this stuff with regular milk and sugar. Another little tidbit is that replacing the cow’s milk with goat’s milk will give a similar product called cajeta, which has a more tangy, cheesy flavor.
I made this for Christmas! Delicious! family loved it. The cake is buttery and moist, just sweet enough. Goes well with the caramel. Couple things if you wanna make this 1. 2 TSP BAKING POWDER!! She forgot to mention this 2. I used 3 sticks of butter as the recipe says, although she only uses 2 in the video. Not sure if 2 makes a difference but 3 is still good so don’t be scared to add that extra stick! 3. I made four layers. Measures about 1 3/4 cup of batter for each layer (remember this is with a 3 stick butter recipe, so will be less if you use 2 sticks) The cake recipe itself is a winner and would go well with so many different icings!

Hey y’all, I just wanted to say when I did the recipe I used the three sticks of butter and added three teaspoons of baking powder and it came out delicious. It has a very fine crumb though so the cake is delicate. If you’re going old school frosting that’s made just from carnation milk, butter, sugar, and vanilla be careful that it’s not set up too much because it will tear the cake apart because it’s so moist. It’s also much easier to depan if you use parchment paper.

It's dulce de leche. You can make as many cans as you want, use some for caramel and put the others back in the cabinet. Because the cans aren't opened during cooking, they will last in your cabinet just like any other canned good. Also, if you want lighter sauce, don't cook it as long. If you want darker sauce, cook it longer.

YES!! I’ve done this before but I used a stove pot...I think the crockpot is better tho I’ll do that next time...and I’m definitely gonna sweat the cake next time ...THANK YOU so much for your tips 🥰
Thats a GREAT! idea about the sweating part..i bet it keeps the cake from getting dry to quickly..Thank you for the tip and another bomb recipe my sistah! Yum!😋
Hey guys! I just made this and I’ll like to give my personal opinion on it: First off, it’s SOPPED UP AND DELICIOUS CHILE, my family liked it! I decided to do a bundt cake (which is an option discussed in the description) Making the caramel was super easy! Just be careful to not open right away because I got hot caramel that popped on me. Since I made a bundt cake, and the size for it wasn’t that big, I do feel as though I made too much caramel. So next time if I’m doing it bundt cake style, I’ll DEFINITELY just use two cans than one. Comment if you have any questions about how I baked it at home.
Gloria Burns Hi! The recipe isn’t in the comments but in the description of this video, check there! (If you find that you can’t see the ingredients to the recipe then let me know!) Also, I’ll have to say with my bundt cake that they are smaller slices that you’ll get than with a 3tier. So if you want to go big, do 3tier. After time was up for cooking the sweetened condensed milk, it looked and tasted just like caramel. So there’s no need to add anything else! However, I would say to just use two cans than four if your deciding to do bundt cake style. I think four is too much for the size of a bundt cake.
Did you use the instructions fullySome people say use 2 sticks of butter and 3 eggs and others stick to the recipe she gave in the description.Did it taste weird ?
You should try simple syrup instead of sweating it's so much faster and makes the cake so moist and a little sweeter. It's 2 parts sugar 1 part water and you just kinda soak the cake (pour the syrup on the cake...not too much 😂)

Bread pudding recipe please!!!
Years ago (maybe 55-60), my mother would make a spice cake from scratch and frost it with caramel frosting. Oh, the memories of those cakes. Her caramel was also from scratch. I think I need to make one of these decadent cakes SOON!!!!
Lord, have mercy! That's good stuff girl!!! ♥️♥️

I love this and I am making this as I type. Can somebody tell me what the 3rd stick of butter was for? I only seen her put 2 sticks in the batter.....
Did you used 2 or three sticks of butter? How did this turn out?
Did u make it?
I remember my grandma used to make this cake but I never knew how to make it but now I do thanks to you I'm going to try this have a bless day ❤️
SOPPED UP!!!!
Thanks for the great tip on the short cut for the caramel!👍
Thank you sooo much! I refuse to keep paying $25 for a Carmel cake
Thats a GREAT! idea about the sweating part..i bet it keeps the cake from getting dry to quickly..Thank you for the tip and another bomb recipe my sistah! Yum!😋
Hey guys! I just made this and I’ll like to give my personal opinion on it:
First off, it’s SOPPED UP AND DELICIOUS CHILE, my family liked it!
I decided to do a bundt cake (which is an option discussed in the description)
Making the caramel was super easy! Just be careful to not open right away because I got hot caramel that popped on me. Since I made a bundt cake, and the size for it wasn’t that big, I do feel as though I made too much caramel. So next time if I’m doing it bundt cake style, I’ll DEFINITELY just use two cans than one.
Comment if you have any questions about how I baked it at home.
macky xx I can't find the recipe in the comments... Can you please post them? Would you recommend the bundt cake?? Or 3tier?? It looks SOOOOOO GOOD,!
macky xx did you have to add anything to the cans to make it caramelized?
macky xx I appreciate any feedback you can give...thank you in advance❤️
Love her voice and the cake look great will look for the books
You should try simple syrup instead of sweating it's so much faster and makes the cake so moist and a little sweeter. It's 2 parts sugar 1 part water and you just kinda soak the cake (pour the syrup on the cake...not too much 😂)
I definitely will be trying this recipe. I've been craving caramel cake!
😱 when she opened that can and it was caramel!
Ikr it was like magic!!
Think it’s technically not actual caramel but dulce De leche...but the average person can’t tell the difference anyway so 🤷♀️
Jus Gie right!
