l love the fact that your collection includes so many types of engines and rolling stock. I remember seeing you do a review at one time of the CP holiday train and going "I've seen that in person as it runs through my home town" I love being able to live vicariously through you as I don't have time/space/Money at the moment for the Layout of my dreams. On the plus side I have a son coming in february and I managed to locate at my parents house all my old Micro Machines Trains (None are powered sadly) so he can have those to play with in several years when their small size does not pose a hazard to him.
Glad I looked, wondering how the open house went. Layout looks great. I look forward to all your videos. I watched the 3 on RUclips. I'm sure everyone was impressed! Have a wonderful Christmas!
Those S3s look great in that new display case. I'm a big Milwaukee road fan. Also, the Carolina room is looking great, can't even believe how much you got done in such a short time. It's been virtually barren for several years
Wow! That’s possibly the most progress in one video ever! I think it’s great that your girlfriend really supports the hobby, about the whole thing about the layout being finished, a layout can never be finished, there’s always something else you can do. Everything is looking so nice (especially that skirting)
I thought my layout was complete until my granddaughters pointed out a few things that I could improve on my layout I have my granddaughters helping me as much as they can between school sports and the chores it's always fun teaching my granddaughters what I know about real life trains
AWESOME VIDEO ERIC!!! I have been following you on youtube since you began working on this massive project. This is an amazing layout!!! Keep up the fine work!!!! Pat
You and your girlfreind are awesome, good to see you're both enjoying and collaborating in the hobby! Not too many model railroaders can boast about their better half joining in the fun.
Very nice Eric. I wondered what happened to your Pre-Pilgrimage video that you have done in the past but see that it just turned "Post" this year. I was wondering when you were going to do a tutorial on how you make your roads. I try to catch your vids but may have missed this one if you already have done it. Thanks again for your dedication to the hobby.
WOW, the Carolina room and Diesel shop area are both looking great Eric! I also like the new display case and the new skirts, your girl did a sweet job with them! Anyways, thanks for the video bud! P.S. Looking forward to the reviews!
It seems like the girlfriend is responsible for most of the progress. Add a few more girlfriends like her and the layout will be complete in short order. Although it can be hard to find girlfriends that accept model railroad addiction at this level.
The layout is really looking good. Your girlfriend certainly is talented and it is great that she shares your interest in the layout. I especially like how you both have decorated the corner of the layout where Ria's Bluebird, the Dirty Hoe Garden Center and J Franks is. The coin operated horse ride outside of J Franks caught my eye. As a kid I often took a ride on one of those when I had some spare change. Where did you locate that item?
It's crazy how much a good female can change your perspective on a layout. I'm only 18 years old and in college, but I've been dating my girlfriend for almost 3 years now. My dad are starting to work on an HO layout together in our garage, (not very easy to get my mom to give up the whole garage lol), and I was talking to my girlfriend in-between classes the other day about my plans for the layout and she said, "That's great but shouldn't you finish the benchwork first?" I was like yeah yeah I guess and I sort of realized it's good for a men with one track minds to have a good solid girl at their side to help them keep them on track, because if not for her constantly reminding my dad and I to finish the benchwork we would still just be rolling trains across the kitchen table lmao.
I have the Lionel LCCA 6019 which I think is more rare than the others since it was available for order in Spring 2018 (someone re-jog my memory if u could order it back in fall of 2017).
I’m going today to get myself an MTH Santa Fe steam engine. Lightly used, great shape, guy said when it wasn’t on his layout it was in the box. Don’t quote me on this but I think it’s a 4-8-4 configuration. $239 he is selling it for.
I'm a simple man. I see a new Ericstrains video, I watch it before any other video in my subscription feed and I give it a like. Great update video, I saw you filming most of it on the webcams and there were quite a few outtakes. But if you didn't take the time to make the recordings as good as possible, then we would not have the quality content we all expect from you. :) Anyway, the skirts look awesome and the progress you did on the table looks really amazing. It definitely doesn't stand out from the other tables now. Hopefully someday I will be able to visit your layout during an open house. But considering I live in California, that won't happen for a while...
Where in the Carolinas is that part of the layout based off of (cities, regions, landscapes)? I'm from Raleigh, North Carolina. I love your videos and I learn a lot from them.
@@ricardomierz8467 No Ricardo,. Unfortunately I have never been to the United States . I'm am simply asking if Eric has had these problems when he hosts his open house.
Bryson Grondin watch episodes 65 and 53 and you’ll have you’re answer. In episode 53 I count all the engines and talk about each one. Episode 65 was an update on the engine count.
I would suggest quite the opposite. Right now, Eric can spend what he wants and when he wants to spend it. Why give any woman veto power if you don't have to? Better to keep her auditioning. All the benefits, none of the drawbacks. #MGTOW
@Eric's Trains - As the late great NY ⚾YANKEES broadcaster and former NY YANKEES⚾ Short-Stop PHIL RIZZUTO used to say, "HOLY 🐄COW!" That SKIRTING material your girlfriend did looks AWESOME and Professionally 👍👍👍done! Great video Eric, love the engine house and yard area, thanks for sharing....
Great video and new work on the layout looks great. 👍👍👍
Carolina room with no BBQ joint? Blasphemy!
Fair point. Ria's does serve BBQ, in my defense. :)
Those S3s look great in that new display case. I'm a big Milwaukee road fan. Also, the Carolina room is looking great, can't even believe how much you got done in such a short time. It's been virtually barren for several years
Wow Eric! Wow the rooms look absolutely amazing, your girl did a great job
It's great to see that the Carolina Room finally got some attention. I love how it's turning out!

Absolutely great support system on your hobby

Hello Eric. Layout looking great. The work shop is very good. Always a joy to see the updates. Happy Holidays to you and the family.
Good update Erick. I am glade to see the all the additions and changes.

What a great layout, I enjoy watching all your video's and keep up the good work.
The layout really looks great man. Good job.
I will be coming 2019 from Chicago.....I have watched your videos since you ran the MTH CSX C30-7 video from 2009! I have to see this in person!
The Berkshires are looking great! Hope to see a review of them pretty soon!
I've already reviewed a Lionel Berk lately, so the new ones are not at the top of the to-do list. But we'll see.
ericstrains that makes sense. Alright.
Great job Eric. When you do get back to detailing the diesel shop, PLEASE weather those stairs & platforms, that yellow is blinding😎
Very cool Eric! 👍. Thanks for update!
Great video. Layout is looking great.
Awesome layout
That Rio Grande in the background looks awesome!
We had a great time at the open house! Can't wait for next year.
Awesome layout. I liked and subbed. Skirting looks great too. Love the stools as well. David
Are you planning to place railroad signals on the layout. You were talking about night scenes. A clear signal at night is a beautiful sight, truly.
Looking great Eric!!
Coodoo's to your girl, nicely done by her. love your layout, great job on it.
Very Cool Update! Your layout is looking awesome, thank you for sharing.

Great video Eric! Keep up the excellent work!
i want an HO scale version of that garden center xDDDDDDDDDD
Where did she find the railroad fabric? At least you got to keep the house along with all your hard work
Ah trains on the layout And on the skirting ! Lovely ! Cant she make you a cap of the same fabric ? Or a t shirt ? Thanks for the video
Could you add fence around the salt factory. It would make a great detail. You can add vines and bushes along them to

Hi Eric, I am a new subscriber and your layout looks amazing! Can't wait to see what you have new in store for us!
Thank you!
That was awesome! I wish I didn't live so far away, I would love to see all of your layout in person. Thank GOD for You Tube LOL!
Great video as always!

I suppose it's one girlfriend at a time.
Ricardo Mierz It’s a joke, and it isn’t in bad taste. But if Eric tells me he is offended I will happily remove the comment and apologize to him.
Great update
They layout looks great Eric! Have you ever thought about putting a few railfan figures scattered around the layout?
Yeah, they are coming.
I love this so much
Cool shirt Eric love the channel
is that the legacy polar express on the second shelf at 4:44
I was watching him make this yesterday on the live cameras you guys need to give him credit this took him soo many times to get this just right
Looks great eric great to have a woman that supports the hobby!

I love your shirt and I live in the mountains so I love that place
Great update! I've been wondering What type of ballast do you use on your layout? The diesel shop is looking really good!
RRIA AMERICA Brennan’s Better Ballast

Add some vehicles in the Carolina Room like a reefer semi truck, MOW hi rail truck & a school bus
What is the yellow platforms made of in the diesel house?

She's a keeper!
Across from ria's you could place a road side tand selling produce.
.Eric thanks I will be starting my layout soon you have been a lot of help can you tell me where you buy your trains at?
wheres the road tutorial :(
if you did it can i have link?
Can you do a full tutorial of the layout?
Love it man! What did you use for you roads?
Why does no one get the Niagara with the double headlights. That one is more appealing to me.
Looks fantastic hats off to your girlfriend where didshe buy the train fabric at
15:53 Yay!!!!

I love the layouts. Your salt factory really stood out this time, where did you get that model?
Will the next one be on the new trains that came in recently
Question Eric, what brand of tracks and switches do you use?
Atlas Track. The switches are mostly Atlas as well, but there are some Ross switches too.
@@Ericstrains Thanks Eric!
Amazing Eric how are you doing my freind
I have that shirt. Have you been to the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad?
Yep
@@Ericstrains Awesome
Your gonna have a lot more detail on your engine shed then I will. I’ve decided to tone down details cause hardly anyone sees my layout anyway.
Where in the Carolinas is that part of the layout based off of (cities, regions, landscapes)? I'm from Raleigh, North Carolina. I love your videos and I learn a lot from them.
Eric , have you ever had anything broken or stolen that you know of at the open house?

were do you live if you live in MI which I don't think you do cuzz if you live in MI I might visit o-h
It's a small world.
Nice update Eric, are you planning to get the Lionel H10?
Already have it. If you follow me on facebook you get to see pics of all the new stuff that comes in.
@@Ericstrains cool. I haven't checked Facebook in a while so I will go see what's going on. Thanks
It's the best place to see the day to day stuff that goes on between the videos.
Nov 24 was my birthday
Who makes the Jeep in front of the store?
Eric, out of curiosity, how many engines do you own?? I am fortunate enough to own about 14, but none of them are as nice as yours. Cheers from PA

i think i saw the Southern Kanawha in the Carolina room... am i correct...?? :3
In the case?
yes.
Glad to see 1225 on the top shelf. Right where she belongs!
Looks great but some weathering on some rail cars and building's will make it stand out more. Just looks too new lol other than that awesome
She made all that stuff for you and she made you custom stools? She’s a keeper
great work on the layout, how was your Thanksgiving by the way?
Nice
Having a girlfriend that wants to help you with your trains and layout. That’s a keeper
Not trying to be rude but how does your wife put up with the trains?
model railroading 101: a layout is never complete
Brother, you need to get a ring on her finger, ASAP.

Eric, are you aware that last night when you Recording this episode the Carolina room webcams audio was off?
