@@thiami576 it showed George opening one of the windows in the kitchen when he went for his final visit. And they did say in the show that they absolutely had to have their windows open.
I feel like the vinyl windows were too modern and looked cheap. The new windows are too modern and look expensive. Not sure that's an improvement! Could they have just painted the vinyl windows black and got a similar look for (almost) free?
Just looking at the potential for the kids to fall down where the floor ends before the window. I would’ve put glass flooring in the section between the end of the floor & the window frame. You’d get the light & the effect as if there was nothing there, but the safety of nothing or no one falling down that gap
There used to be a show on HGTV long ago where they featured people who moved into unconventional houses. That show ruined my life 😃. I love people with imagination. Rebel against cookie cutter houses!!!😁
its worth building a life you want but i don't agree in putting youself into great debt.most of these dreamers dont do the math first and totaly underestimate the work load.
Who on earth needs so many damn bathrooms? I mean come on! That is such a waste of space and money.. Use it as a study, creative hobby room, kids room, etc. They've got FOUR DAMN BATHROOMS I MEAN OH MY GOD GET A GRIP.
For such an amazing huge space, it ended up broken up and full of little boxes. Not feeling that kitchen living area. So underwhelming in that amazing space
Long corridors no no no. I'd leave the existing windows there, save money. Later you wouldn't notice and it wouldn't hurt so much financially. Later when you can afford it get the proper windows in. But it not my build. Fair dues to them.
How prices have changed. 2013, suggesting replacing all those huge windows would cost 30 000 GBP. It would easily cost 70 000 EUR, in PVC windows alone today 😂
$750,000 for the building originally and only $60,000 for restorations O boy, pure insanity. I would've never paid that much for that building, in the first place, nor would I have spent $30,000 pounds for windows that mad. Why couldn't they leave those windows in and paint the frames and later deal with them when they had their expenses under control. I'm curious to know what's it worth afterwards now that their finished the restoration is what I'd like to know? anyways, I think the David the Project Manager was driven mad, having to deal with this couple. He nailed it though, when he said, " a lot of artistic people have no common sense." and he was right.
Personally, I'd leave the windows and replace them over time when they have more money. Seems such a shame to toss out new windows just for the aesthetics. But, having said that, the new windows do look fab. Thanks for the upload.
It blows my mind on how much these people pay for these places .I mean if it wasn't for these people these building's would collapse .I mean give them a break they are at least trying to make things better.
My daughter and her husband paid what these people did, for an 1,100 square foot craftsman house in Los Angeles, 15 years ago. For what the family in this program got, the pumping station, was a bargain.
Man I wonder if the people you guys know that are being so judgmental are as judgmental as you are about your life. They were public figures years ago AND just because Josh isn’t saying much doesn’t mean he hasn’t suffered or doesn’t suffer. Why do they need to put their whole life out there? Don’t be a bully!
That project manager and the host were so rude. Project manager with his hand in their pocket talking about them that way. Very nice and humble couple.
I generally like your shows and all your input, but this time, George, you were too pushy. The windows they had were perfectly functional. George- Your the one that mentioned the windows, and you kept pushing them to go further into debt to achieve your vision for the building. It is nice to have a fantastically beautiful windows, but having the building dry and tight and functional is good enough if that is what you can afford. From a galloping horse, there was no difference!! The first windows looked fine and new ones weren't worth the added stress of more debt and spending money they didn't have. in FACT- after they added to their mortgage, you said that they could afford the new windows- NO THEY COULDNT AFFORD THEM- they went into DEBT for them. Paying cash without borrowing, now THAT is affording new windows. People are so used to being in debt, using their credit cards, that very few pay as they go now a days, but that is the best, less stressful way to live and make your money work for you!! How much did those windows cost them when you consider the interest they had to pay on them over the course of a 30 year mortgage!!!!!
It's their money and they made their own decision. I wouldn't live in an industrial building if it didn't have soaring steel windows. That's the whole appeal.
Was there a reason why they couldn't wait on the windows? Once again modern design in a historic building. It appears the Europeans like the look of the 60's, yuck. Especially when they spent so much money on the windows and kept so much of the old features which they liked.
I wish every restoration honored the old and integrated the new as well as this couple did. So richly beautiful.
Beautiful. The windows are the artwork .I love them.
Normally they always are pushing to get a building ready before Christmas. I think they did a great thing to start with Christmas. ;-)
The windows are stunning and the family adorable! Love this show --- blessings to all for a beautiful life
i am though wondering...how do they air out? none of the windows can be opened

I love this architect
I love him too🇲🇾
Shame I’m a little far away😀
I wish today's buildings were as half as beautiful as the Victorian industrial buildings...
V beautiful transformation. God bless u all with good health happiness n loooooooooong life
Beautiful
That project manager is godsend
The white windows were fine with me. This is not as I would have liked but it is still wonderful to see it restored! Thanks for sharing!
I feel like the vinyl windows were too modern and looked cheap. The new windows are too modern and look expensive. Not sure that's an improvement! Could they have just painted the vinyl windows black and got a similar look for (almost) free?
And the space between the floor and the window where the kids could play and fall through what could be done about that also?
WOW, IT IS WORTH THE MONEY SPENT
Are PVC windows not a reasonable option? Is it possible a coat of some nice aged bronze paint would do wonders to the white window and door trim?
Just looking at the potential for the kids to fall down where the floor ends before the window. I would’ve put glass flooring in the section between the end of the floor & the window frame. I was concerned about that as well, especially with the children.

Agreed

What homeowner doesn't have a mortgage?
@@mattneillninasmom I don't
@@midgie1166 me, neither.
I guess it's just me being old and old fashioned but what about a little curtain on the bedroom windows? Their bed is right there facing the window!
I agree! And in the bathroom right beside the toilet there is a window. With no screen or curtain. Not for me.
$750K for the property...only $60K set aside for the restoration?!! Wow. That is crazy.
This is England. So £ not $.
@@user39h2j8il So that's even worse!!!
Typically under-budgeted, like nearly all the subjects in these programs.
ok but you sit on the toilet and peeps could just look at your legs through the floor windows XD

Eventually, each girl will want her own bedroom with en suite, the couple, theirs, another loo for downstairs - seems about right to me!
They could just keep the good windows in and worry about them later, this is crazy spending 30K on something you don't need right away.
For such an amazing huge space, it ended up broken up and full of little boxes. Not feeling that kitchen living area. So underwhelming in that amazing space
Those PVC windows were so horrible!! Nothing ruins an old building like chunky vinyl fenestration.

Money is tight
Grant for new windows or what is there remains
Design for new windows and replacement later
What if this very fertile begger woman has more babies? Where's she going to house them?

NOT $!!!! £!!!!!
There is no urgency on the windows. They can go back to them at a later time!
The dont keepthe original Sweet Wooden door :-(
paid too much for the space, windows, though important, are not the priority when they have them in and building water tight, and a budget of 60,000.
Personally, I'd leave the windows and replace them over time when they have more money. Seems such a shame to toss out new windows just for the aesthetics. But, having said that, the new windows do look fab. Thanks for the upload.
I don't like the walls and I wish that they would have put in a more aged looking wood floor.
The host is great. It pleases me to pretend he`s Gerard Butler`s younger brother.

TV production standards, fake background music, too much fluff, etc etc.
Blablabla. Do better if you want!
Same old story no money over late then end up superb furniture and fittings what a load of bollocks
I don't think the furniture is superb. It looks like it came from Ikea.
