Loved the video. I have the original Stylophone beatbox and the Monotron delay. My new Stylophone Beat arrives tomorrow. Can’t wait to try some of the stuff you did in video. Thanks and look forward to more videos. I’ll be checking your channel.
Hi Joe! First video I watched from you... Wonderful entertaining! 😀 Beside the great musical demonstration of the super cool Stylophone Beat, I often had to laugh about your fun you are having while doing it! 🙌🏻 The build-up with the Korg Monotron Delay... Spontaneous plant to grab... 😅 Thank you for sharing!!
Died laughing at the fake plant bit. Also needs some random small robots or random japanese trinkets, add funny coloured light filters and you're king of the algorithm lololol
I just got the Stylophone Beat and Korg Monotron. Any stuff I like I record onto a Tascam DP-008ex so I can save it and add to it later. It's wild having these 3 things that take up hardly any space at all. Really great for spur-of-the-moment songwriting. You never know what you'll come up with. Thx for this instruction video Joe! Happy N.Y.
That was actually interesting to watch. After the first half I thought "Ok, I've seen all it can do - no need to get it, fun would be over pretty quick." but the second part where you used it along the Korg and showed what else the BEAT can do I was quite surprised by the possibilities. I'm still not going to buy it - maybe as a present for a buddy - but this was informative and fun to watch. Thanks.
So it's got more voices then the Roland t8. And the fact it doesn't quantise u can do drunk gritty boombap I'm definitely getting one I'm ok with it not having midi as I would record the patterns iv made right into the tascam then I can use other gear to add stuff on top...I'm actually really impressed with this especially for the price I'd run an fx pedal through it or the korg nts1
wooooow. just got the d-x stylophone and was heavily considering getting tge beat too, i think this has sent me over the edge! LOL. awesome performance at the end btw
It's a resonance pot, it' sounds pretty cool. It's wild how many unused solder points are on the motherboard for that thing. The tricky part is squeezing in the physical component!
I'm all for budget gear Roland aira pocket operaters korg volcas nts1 so definitely grabbing one of these for the set up £30 is a bargain for something like this
It has alot of drawbacks. Its only live. You cant save anything once u turn it off. No adsr. Loops are very very short etc. But hey, if u dont mind all that its worth 30pounds but not more. I suspect ill get tired of it in 2days
I wonder if I could use it left handed if it was upsidedown? it's not like the orientation of the circular pad really matters that much, unlike on a regular stylophone's piano keyboard layout.
'Let's hook it up to an external speaker that is slightly smaller than the built-in speaker' 😂 (i had to laugh because i was expecting a nice studio monitor ;))
Considering the tech behind this, though lite it is dicrib as professional use for high users of course everyone who isn't a professional musician and just loves playing around with music who is trained in music prediction is probably not musical or just like pretending they are usually good at throwing out a tune in their own style in private or not? It's definitely something this machine alongside the Switch with Korg Gadget and those korg minis.. Does anybody recall the old Game Boy a music maker it was limited, but there is a similar manner to the device here? Think there was a drum maker to?
Novice here…could you tell me the two types of cords you’re using to link the two devices to each other and to the speaker? And what model speaker you’re using? Thanks mate.
Just a standard aux type cable in each case. The monotron has a line in and out so you can daisy chain it between an input and a speaker. The speaker is the small frekvens one that IKEA did a few years ago
For someone much cleverer than me, perhaps although I think it's unlikely. The stock sounds are good and varied and if you run it through some FX it can sound incredible
For 35 Euro it's a no-brainer. Combine it w/ the Stylophone S-1 Analog (i.e. the "classic" Stylophone) or the immaculate underestimated Stylophone Gen X-1.
You can't save anything you've created and it's just one bar unless you set the tempo low and squeeze two in there. But with the improvisation options, the FX and such, you can add plenty of variety once it's running
hello mate, the only question i have, is how do you take/transfer tunes you actually like that youve made out of that into external software like a laptop, in order to edit further :)
I would take the audio out signal and record it on my computer using Audacity. My old laptop had a line input but with my new one I got a usb sound card

Not into gaming Joe, but have plenty of synths. I've just subbed so I hope you do more with cheap gear as your jam was excellent! This is more than a toy as you can overlay a drum machine on top of the "lo-fi" feel that the Stylophone delivers. My wife has just bought me one for my birthday so I'm hoping to create some loops by recording it into either my Cubase DAW or to a field recorder like a Zoom H1n, which is what I've done in the past with some of my Casio keyboard's rhythms from the 80s. What if you turned the Beat 90 degrees and have the drum at the bottom, then your left hand won't be in the way of the controls and you could manipulate them with your right hand? Just an idea. Ditch the plant mate, it doesn't work imho lol.
You can definitely make it more than a toy with the right approach! And yeah haha the plant was a joke really, I normally put random toys in shot instead 😁
@@JoeBleeps I thought the plant could well be a joke.
