Forestella was formed in 2017 on the South Korean TV show Phantom Singer 2, which they won! The members are Ko Woorim, Kang Hyungho, Cho Mingyu, and Bae Doohoon. Woorim (0:53): bass, 27 years old, classically trained opera singer. Hyungho (1:32): countertenor, 34 years old, no formal training - he was the vocalist of an amateur rock band, and worked as a chemical engineer and researcher. they were going for the vampire theme. the show they performed this is on is a family friendly show, so they couldn't go with the ugly abusive relationship theme, so they did sort of a disney version of vampires.

Usually someone living legend in Korean music is invited and 6~12 teams compete with rendition of the songs related to the legend. But sometimes there are episodes inviting nobody and having specific themes. Now it's changed a little, the numbers of teams to 5~10. IS diversed the invited artists more like not only living legends but also popular young artists. Each episode has a winner by audiences' votes. At each half of the year there's King of the Kings episode (I'll say KoK). At the KoK episode the winners from each episode through the period compete each other with any cover they choose. So in KoK no legend is invited. This Bad Romance was from the latest KoK. Forestella broke the record of their own by winning it as fifth times in a row in KoK. The stage was bigger than ever because it was KoK episode. Usually it was held in KBS hall, much smaller than where this video was filmed. Forestella began to be known to the world with their Bohemian Rhapsody and they have another beautiful renditions of Heal the World, Scarborough Fair, We are the Champions, Smooth Criminal etc. in IS. Actually they are very strong competitors in this kind of music competition shows. They also had awesome performances in Phantom Singer All Stars (I'll say PSAS) in which JTBC invited all the Phantom Singer finalists groups and had competitions among crossover groups. Their Shape of you is a MUST SEE performance. They sang it in 3 different languages- in English, Spanish and isiZulu (one of African languages) there. And their Time in a bottle, Je suis malade and Inner Universe in PSAS would be also stunning. But you need to be extra-careful when you use the videos from JTBC, because often copyright blocked.. better blur or darken the videos to avoid it.
