  • We are prepping our girls for a hot summer ahead, and are being pro-active with keeping the coop cool for the summer. One way we are helping them out is installing solar powered fans to circulate the air in the coop. Hopefully this will make them nice and comfy!

Just a suggestion, but since heat rises, do you think one fan could be placed high up to draw the hot air out, then one fan placed lower to draw air in.

I live in Florida, where the heat can soar up to the 90s mid-morning. Even though the coop is properly vented, the coop swelters like a sauna at night. As a temporary solution, I use a portable camping fan to dissipate the heat. I need a solar solution to charge a battery and trigger a night fan for temperature management. Running a fan during daylight hours would not be advantageous here. Your flock should be out foraging during the day except when laying eggs in the coop.
