The repair guy said it would cost me $400. To replace my water pump and the door lock. After watching ur video and another one on the door lock replacement I bought parts from amazon, did the work myself, it took about an hour (with no previous experience) and washed 3 loads of clothes...$40.!!! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I am a 74 year old woman living on SocSec. This means more than you will ever know

K Wade, I just moved & for the first time in ages I have a washer/dryer and it's a front loader, what!? I just turned 72 yrs old and learning about the appliances, oh add a refrigerator that makes ice and makes ice ....stop! ; ) I gave my age also because yeah some things are just plain new and all digital and that takes a back seat to your being independent & fixing the problem! I have a different problem, so,I'm off to find another video, kudos to you!! 🏆

NO disrespect to my own dad, who did TONS for my sister and me, but when he would fix things, I wish he would have shown us how to do it! Because when I turned 18 and moved out, I was fairly incompetent lolol so now, when I need things fixed, either I google them or he’ll come over and he’ll show me.
Great video, weird to think the girl here is like 14/15! 😅

I couldn't agree more. This little girl is going to grow up knowing things as second nature. It's a valuable skill, not only measured in dollars and cents. I was shocked when, in our mid-20s, my sister told me she didn't know how to do any mechanical repairs like changing a tire. It's a terrible and avoidable deficiency.

Holy Moly! Thank you! We were ready to shop for a new duet stackable because our washing machine was not draining. Last ditch effort, we watched this video. BINGO! We were not aware that we were able to access that catcher. The Manuel makes no mention of it. I wish I could attach a picture. We found Coins, Bobbi pins, chains and a huge clump of lint. You just saved us close to $2,000! Our machines are about 10 years old and just thought, their time was up. The machine is working beautifully! BTW, We love your helper too! Good job! Girl Power!!!!

I just had a simliar experience. 10 year old machines. I wanted to hire but could not get any place to return a call so dove in. It took 4 hours, multiple runs to borrow tools and buy a couple things and I experienced the most foul-smelling black water I have known (stuffed with guitar pics, hair, and congealed I don't know what) but 'tis all better, now!

***iMPORTANT NOTE*** I watched this video and ordered the part, but later discovered the pump was not the reason the tub was filling with water, it was a defective inlet valve! There is a SUPER EASY way to find out if the Inlet Valve is leaking that requires NO TOOLS :) If your washer is off and has not been used for several hours or days and the tub continues to fill with water slowly, here is an easy way to check if it inlet valve is the real culprit: The defective inlet valve will leak and you will be able to see a slow steady drip at the door outlet valve. This causes the tub to fill. To check, just open the door and see the outlet valve on the left side half way up. If it remains dry with no drips with power off.......then your inlet valve is good. If it is dripping.......the inlet is defective. :)
I just wanted to share my findings so others can double check the inlet valve and save yourself the trouble of ordering the wrong part.

    Thank you so much!
We had this exact problem with this exact washer and I googled on a whim thinking I might find some generic info about how to make a fix and came across your video! It was easy to follow and I was able to fix the issue by myself! Our problem ended up being just the filter, which was so clogged up but very easy to clean out in the end. However, I am now also confident that I could replace the drain pump if necessary after watching your video!
I also want to say that we've had TWO repair people come out to check our machine and neither addressed the filter - it seems like that would have been step one in a draining problem. It is surely proof to your point that you never know who you are getting when you bring someone into your home!
Our washer is working great now and I appreciate this video so much!

Thank you so very much!!! I'm an old daughter, (in my 50's, lol), and for the first time I am living on my own without a man to fix things for me. You have saved me $. Luckily I have tools. It was fun to learn how to fix a problem and to learn something new. You would not believe what was in the filter. 4 bobby pins, a 1 1/2 inch screw, a paper clip, a shredded $20 bill, panty liner, ear bud, hair and gunk and an 8"×3"piece of heavy fabric with a pink buttom sewed on!!! How did my poor washing machine work this long?!?🤯
I appreciate how clear and simple to follow you made this video. I am following you now because I want to learn all that you have to teach your lovely daughters. Great job!!!

Thanks for your videos! It's always nice to see that there are people in the world who still like to fix things on their own and teach others to do so!
Bonus Tip: If you think the drain line might be plugged somewhere, save yourself some time and check ALL of the spots where it may plug before putting everything back together.
Bonus Bonus Tip: If the discharge of the pump isn't blocked, check the entirety of the suction line, including the lint trap, the ball valve on the outlet of the exterior washer drum, AND the wash drum outlet itself. After 3 days of trying to diagnose my washer's inability to drain, I found some socks somehow stuck between the interior and exterior drums, plugging up the whole works. Have no idea how they got there, but there they were.

Thanks for the great video. Fixed my problem last night which I could never have done without your instructions. And I never do this kind of stuff! One thing I did was to start using the wet vacuum about a quarter of the way into the repair, based on your slight comment. There was a lot of water in the machine and it was taking forever using the rags to soak it up as it drained. I put the wet vacuum nozzle next to the drain and sucked most of the water in as it poured out. Key was to open the cover ever so slightly and putting the nozzle right where it was pouring out and it worked like a charm. The wet vac. sucked in most of the water. Sped up the process and less mess. Can't thank you enough.
    Much appreciated.

May 9/23 - This isn't the exact same as my washer, although I have a Whirlpool Duet (maybe newer model). I watched about 4 different videos and, by far, this was the easiest to follow. Some of the others said to turn the machine on it's back, a bit too hard for 110lb female. So I took the back off. The coin catcher/filter was a bit more difficult to access but finally managed it, drained the last of the water and found........a Color Catcher caught in it. Haven't put it all back together yet, but hopefully that is problem solved and no need to replace the pump. I wasn't expecting much with a 6 year old post but I'm glad to say that watching it paid off big-time for me. Great, clear video and easy to follow instructions. Can't thank you enough. Love the added touches from your lovely daughter. Word of caution for people who use Color Catchersin front-loaders. I've been using them for years and first time with a problem.

i think it is an error for insufficient water pressure but i am not sure

@@rickeykeeton4770 thanks but I fixed it , turns out that that it was because I hadn't put the bottom panel back on yet
There is a little spring switch that the panel needs to hold in
Also for models with no display you can still get diagnostic mode
I forget now but I think you just press any 3 buttons besides power 3 times is a series like 123 123. 123 after you power cycle the machine
Then it is in diagnostic mode and the lights will flash and the 1button you pressed in the series is the 1button ,the second is the 2 button 3rd is the 3 button
Then you press or hold one of them I forgot which one now and it will clear all the error codes from the computer
After I found the right chart of error codes for my machine I was able to look up the code. It said it could be one of like 10 different things but when I read about the switch I knew that that was probably the thing causing it ,I screwed the panel back on , and cleared the codes and then it worked

As Nancy said in the comments I also was my father's helper and it's amazing how my brain works with mechanical stuff. As it turns out,, I am handy around the house point being so will your daughter. What a tremendous advantage for her. About my machine, I'm going to give it a go and see what happens. The problem is not a clogged drain area so it has to be the pump mechanism itself. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks for the easy to follow video. If I had someone come here it's a least $100.00 to come and check it out and then an extremely overpriced part as well. So, needless to say, I am very happy about this video and I'm kind of excited to see if this solves the problem.

As a 70 year old woman, growing up in a household with 8 kids and a dad who always reminded us that "money doesn't grow on trees" I found your video extremely helpful. We were getting error codes on our washer and it would just stop before the load was done. My husband would rather call a repairman than look at it himself. I watched the video and in less than 10 min had the cover off and knob unscrewed, it did let out quite a bit of water even though there was none visible in the drum. I will say it smelled awful and the filter was disgustingly dirty and clogged. This is obviously the answer to our washer problem. Thank you again for your step by step detailed video.

I'm really glad I watch this. I opened up this drain and the reason why my washing machine was doing the F21 and the suds error was I had a hair band in my little filter drain area. Took the Hair Band out no more error code. Probably saved a single gal at least a hundred and fifty bucks. Took me 10 minutes to take three little screws out, unscrew this filter area, dump out the gross water and hair bands. Washing machine running like a top. Thank you so much for the video it gave me great confidence.

Scott does a great job illustrating and explaining drain problems with a Whirlpool Duet clothes washer. His illustrations worked for me and saved me time, frustration, and $150.00 to $200.00. in repair person costs. I'm not mechanically inclined: but, I fixed my washer following Scott's instructions. Scott's instructions and illustrations were easy and effective. Thanks Scott and your young daughter is hilarious!!!

Thank you sooo much for this video!!!! I was thinking we needed a new washer, but after watching, only about $50 for the part (with shipping), and about 30 minutes of work, it's like brand new! I get intimidated trying to "fix machines", and your video outlined the steps so nicely. I have 2 daughters, and hope to instill confidence, as you are doing. God Bless you and your beautiful Family!!!!❤❤❤❤
