Covid has changed things drastically unexpectedly. Before people used to watch movies for fun but now they think of cost and content and then choose to go for it. I'm not sure of all but the majority yes.The thinking and perceiving power of people has changed. Like rightly pointed slow/generic movies are best to be watched on OTT compared to movies with heavy visual effects. If possible it would be great if you can make a video on what's the future of DTHs?

Sir, I am an JEE aspirant and passed my boards from Assam Higher Secondary Education Council ( AHSEC) with 68% in 2022. As i thought i am not well prepared for jee 2022 i took a drop year as NTA removed the 75% criteria for admissions in IIT, NITS & CFTIS in the year 2020 2021 2022 and didn't notify about the eligibility criteria for 2023 if they would have earlier announced the critera for 2023 i could have saved 1 year and its complete injustice to the dropers of 2022 who suffered academic loss due to the pandemic. I usually prefer OTT web series above Normal Movies. As they are slow paced and we not only saw a character but we are able to feel it. In the most rare case For watching MARVEL and Other good 3D movie I prefer Cinema Hall over OTT.
Great analysis as always Dhruv. Add to that, people will watch what they find interesting, and that changes with time. A big demography of people don't care about item numbers, or over dramatic movie scenes anymore, they want original stuff, not rehashed remade stuff that came out maybe only 15 years ago. At this rate I won't be surprised if there's a 3 idiots remake. That's why I have massive respect for actors who choose offbeat stories, at least they are trying to change the perspective and branching out to stories that are versatile. People want original content now.

It's not OTT platforms that led to Bollywood's downfall. It's their constant obsession with entertaining "local" audience as opposed to international audience while constantly bashing "western culture".
If Bollywood made movies with half-decent plots, dialogues and screenplays that made sense instead of playing substitute for porn to India's middle class who otherwise can't access it so that it attracted international audience, then it wouldn't have been in trouble right now.

It's not OTT platform but it's Bollywood itself and the reason is Bollywood has same heros heroines , directors and writers with no new stories and hardly give any chances to new comers and new talent. There are only few actors who knows acting but they also started working in such meaning less big budget films. Initially for few years people accepted and then people got bored and started exploring South movies where they saw refreshed stories and actors. So many new commers, talents and unseen refreshing stories. And even big stars movies in south make simple movies where they look simple with no six pack abs like normal people. And people relate to those films and actors. They look good and fit in both Rich and poor personality films.

Correction*** Netflix and Prime were doing the same before also. In 2018/19 the movie didn't have a well known star, OTT rejected the movie and told the maker to run the movie in the theater and come back. The minimum eligibility was the film should run at least 3 weeks in at least one theater. Some producers even paid theaters to run their movies for 3 weeks. ❤️
Believe there is another source of income for these OTT platforms.. i.e., from telecom providers. Which is also a considerable portion of their revenue. And it is also used to calculate per movie revenue generated.

Nowadays people want to see larger than life movies in theatres,which i think bollywood is lacking currently. People just don't want to go theatres and spend a bomb on flop movies,that's why everyone is switching to ott platform where they can watch any movie within their comfort.

OTT platforms like Netflix and amazon bring a lot to the table in terms of creativity and even availability. It is not just in 2022 that the movies are being remade. It is to a surprise that even Sholay was a REMAKE, and so was our last Oscar nomination, Lagaan. Anyways now a days Bollywood is a dying industry because After SSR’s death, people started noticing the deep roots of NEPOTISM in Indian film industry.

Making movies for the big screens is now a challenge for film makers . A below average movie can be viewed on RUclips, but when we spend Rs 300 or more a film needs to provide an extra-ordinary experience.
