This year for Paradise Blue we did things a little differently than last year. Rather than extending our stay at the resort before/ after the fest, we decided to extend our stay at an Airbnb about 20 minutes away from the hotel for $50 rather than the $1,000 it was for each night at the resort. So we landed in Cancun on Wednesday between 5:00-6:00pm and ended up renting a car for the 2 early days we were in Cancun for. It end up being $120 for the 2 days which I thought was worth it especially for all the freedom and convenience. We took the rental to taco spot before even getting to the BNB because we were SO hungry from traveling all day.
Thursday morning we all met at hotel around 11am and set out to sea on a massive boat for about an hour to a marina where we had lunch and got to explore a different part of the island. I was not all that thrilled about driving a golf cart through the streets of the island so I hung out in the pool at the marina and relaxed for a few hours. After our boating excursion we were completely wiped and Bre was completely burnt. We ended our Thursday with some food, a bath, movies and snacks followed by an early slumber.
Friday we woke up at 6am to return our rental to the airport. From there we waited about 30 mins for the free Paradise Blue airport shuttle and drove another 30 mins to the resorts. Once at the resorts they took our bags and it was then time to check in. Of course the lines at check in were long when we arrived and of course we could not check in with ease. Apparently I was not registered a guest in the room so we had to pay an extra 150 even though the room was entirely paid for by 2 people. That definitely put a damper on our mood but after things were all said and done, we found our friends on the beach and got to hang with them till it was time for some music.
Music kicked off at 1:35 with Notixx who we saw for a good 30 minutes before going to check if our room was ready early. IT WAS! By 2:30ish we were checked in to our massively oversized room for just the 2 of us. After soaking it all in we went to get soaked ourselves for the end of Tvboo and the beginning of Dirt Monkey. We saw most of Dirt Monkey and then did some wandering until it was time to get ready for our dinner reservation at the Marina. After dinner we headed to the beach stage from Dion Timmer and Riot Ten. During Riot Ten we left to the bar and saw HOL!, Wooli, and Ray Volpe all just chillen at the bar. I got so wrapped up in conversation that we missed the whole Barely Alive B2B Virtual Riot set but I wasn't mad about it.
We ended the beach stage with excision and then headed in a bit early to get ready for the Nexus stage where Versa brought the heavies and rowdy crowd of the entire weekend. After Versa I wandered looking for something to do as the Nexus stage was not my vibe the rest of the night. But after looking way to hard for friends or something else to do I decided sleep was the best option.

Yep, that particular hotel has those hidden perks. I think I stayed in that hotel in 2019. Sad to say that as much as Cancun is beautiful. I get a bit sad for the people that work there. Those are my ethnicity working in the hotels that looks like people with $$$ can afford. I kid you ravers not, some of the workers barely get $5 USD in pesos a day..A DAY working in these hotels. Some don't even allow the employees to eat the food of the hotels.
