In the last part of the video during breeding, Mr brown and green are both European mantises while the female is a chinese mantis. That may also be a reason for the cannibalism because mantises of different species who try to mate with each other usually end up as food
So you’re telling me a different species mantis snuck into my tank? I put Mr brown in there but I did not put Mr green. I assumed he hatched with the rest of the mantises!

i have female and male chinese mantids and i dont think the males were the same species as the female
Mr brown was not the same species! He’s a European mantis. Which is weird they call them that considering I found him outside my house and I don’t live in Europe
