OK, I got some ideas for backgrounds for all the Warp Evolutions that didn't made it into the anime: -Phoenixmon: a gigantic forest fire -Rosemon: a beautiful field of flowers -Vikemon: a blizzard in the arctic -HerculesKabutermon: on top of a metal building during a thunder storm -Serphimon: over the clouds with the sun rising in the east -Ophanimon: same thing with Serphimon but the sun setting in the west
It's mainly the video games and movies that keep Pokemon popular at this point. Digimon had like one, maybe two at best good movies before Tri and the games were decent to good but not enough to get major popularity like pokemon or even Yugioh
Yes, Gomamon have two Mega forms, his original one is Plesiomon while the other is Vikemon, however, the latter is his true Mega form and it actually fits since the info say that Vikemon is the leader of the Ikkakumon/Zudomon Corps. For Tailmon, just remember that Digimon can have split digivolutions and can become different digimon. A lot of people say that the reason of why she become Magnadramon is because she lacks the Holy Ring in 02 anime. If she has it, my guess that she became Ophanimon.
That makes sense about Tail/Gatomon. By the way, both those names are equally lazy. Other Digimon names are clever. Those names are "thing with a tail monster" and "cat monster."
@@Anti-HyperRebel she naturally starts as a champion (with rookie/training/fresh all being the lowest if she loses sufficient energy or takes a lot of damage) and can branch off into several higher stages at one time in a row, it is possible to have a branched family and gatomon/tailmon is an exception to most rules regarding digivolution and is the only one other than Hackmon off tri to be able to do that on their own which would be able to do several high level stages in a row or at once For her ultimate it would be angewomon, has four mega forms magnadramon/ophanimon/ophanimon fall down mode/examon, DNA with aquillamon to make silphymon, the digifuse is shoutmon XF7 superior mode...so on She knows at least 8 stages by herself right there with the first three only usable if she experiences energy loss or takes damage all other forms she would know as would not have been canon for her to use if she identifies with at least two more armor forms tylomon and butterflymon and at least 7 other armor digi eggs, it lets gatomon have the single most by natural means with 19 different ways in which to Digivolve at once...yeah its a strong one
I've been waiting for this day for a very long time. To see the warp digivolutions of the rest of the gang. When I was younger, I always imagined what the animated sequence would of been like for everyone. I can gladly say I am not disappointed. Now in all seriousness: MY GAWD I WANT A WESTERN RELEASE.

I kinda wish they gave the rest of them unique backgrounds for their mega forms too. But I guess I should be thankful that we actually got warp evolutions for the rest of the digimon.
@@pinoypizza Actually, if you pay attention, both WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon have the same background, the only difference being that WarGreymon's background is set on fire while MetalGarurumon's one is being covered by ice. The fire makes it look very different while it actually isn't.
Watching this just made me realize how awesome the Mega and Ultimate Digivolutions were in comparison to the new style Tri uses. Also, By using an animation that looked different from the previous stages, the original anime gave the ultimate forms a much greater sense of power.
I noticed something about Rosemon’s outfit: she remains green until she got all parts of her outfit unlike the rest of the group. Similar to how plants start out green then eventually turn into a different color while maintaining the leaves and some parts green. BTW she & Ophanimon are my bias 🌹

Man! Since Digimon is being brought back (or so I've heard) I REALLY hope all the digi-destined get their digimon to mega level and fight together. Why must ONLY the Greymons and Garurumons and their cousins get the hype?

It's funny you mention a digimon based on Jesus. There actually is one already. It's called Jesmon and it's one of the Royal Knights. Seriously not making this up.
That sounds like the movie that was in 3d that had Dorumon who eventually becomes Alphamon. Personally, I want to see Huckmon as a partner digimon to a main character. Though to be honest, I simply want to see a Royal Knight as a partner to a leader that and one of the Olympos XII

Pokemon has always largely been about catching and raising several Pokemon to build a team to use to beat gyms and eventually become the champion of whatever region the game takes place in, and the anime has had Ash and Pikachu as the series main characters for the longest time now, so much so that there's even another new Pikachu in the newest anime, Horizons. Digimon is very different, having been about adventuring in a digital world and defeating some evil threat, with most characters only having 1 specific Digimon as their partner in most cases, and the anime keeps on using a different cast of characters with each new season they make (outside of the adventure continuity and it's reboot). The only real thing the 2 series have in common is that they are both about the monsters and the bonds they develop with their human partners, and even then, they are treated differently in the way their evolution lines are structured: Pokemon almost exclusively have one particular line that they use and don't vary from that, unless it's something with 2 or more evolved forms, like Slowpoke, Tyrouge, or Eevee, for example. Digimon, meanwhile, usually tend to have several different digivolutions that any one can become -- it's just usually simplified to having 1 "main" line in the anime for the sake of consistency, and unlike Pokemon, a Digimon's digivolution can be reversed after enough time (at least for those that have human partners). And all this is without even mentioning that it's most often an evil Digimon that is the main villain in a story, while for Pokemon, it's generally some sort of evil team that are the antagonists. I could list more examples, but to claim that the 2 series are "similar in every aspect" is false when you actually compare them side by side
Same as Leomon. Warp shinka is an accelerated evolution from A to B, it doesn't require a specific stage/level to start from so long as it isn't in perfect form (for which warp evolution would be overkill)
Yes it's awssome that we finally see CGI evolutions for Phoenixmon, HerculesKakuterimon, Rosemon and Seraphimon, as well as Orphanimon and Vikemon. Though this is a PSP game exclusive to Japan and it's likely it will stay that way. I guess by some miracle it could become a PS Vita game for outside Japan, though somehow I doubt Sony will take the time to try and convert it, then again it could become a downloadable game...really who can say, but I have my doubts.

Yes, it's true. As long as each of the character's rank are above 4 and each of their total amount of friendship points are above 35 or more, you're safe. During the courses of the game, when you talk to a character or he/she talks to you, you will be given choices. If you pick the correct one, you get a friendship rank up on that character/vice versa. You also need to do all the sub quests because there's a lot of friendship levelling in there.
Yeah, it's fun. It's like the original Digivice but PSP ver. You get to choose either one of the 8 digimon partners and stick with it (you will get the others later). The different between the original and the PSP ver is that in the original, you have to shake the Digivice or walk along with it for your Digimon to walk to encounter enemies while in the PSP ver, you just keep pressing triangle or square to walk your Digimon. And yeah, I found out that Vikemon and Ophanimon are in the PSP ver.
I wish they'd bring out this in english. That way, we can see all this awesomeness in english! Although, then again, they'd probably do it to preview Digimon Hunters or when it's fully dubbed.

Well, I always thought that Plesiomon is mega form of Gomamon. And, Lotusmon maybe can be mega of Lalamon. Lilamon digivolve in Lotusmon in Digimon world Dawn.
Lotusmon was designed as Lilamon's evolution; Toei did an odd take when using Rosemon in Savers. Vikemon started as Shakkoumon's evolution, while Plesiomon was Joe's Gomamon's original final form. Nowadays (7 years after that comment was made) Bandai goes with Slash Angemon for Shakkoumon's evolution. Toei keeps pushing to use Holydramon as Angewomon's evolution, but Bandai has been using Ophanimon for this Angewomon since they introduced the species, and the Adventure reboot is using Ophanimon.
Let's not forget digimon can digivolve into different branches their not completely set like pokemon Which is the beauty of it you'll never really know if you'll get the same form again when ur digimon digivolves

Who the hell invented the word "Canon" in Digi evolutions!?? It was NEVER canon there's no "filler" or "extra" episode in the Digimon series they're all considered canon regardless of anything. GOSH! and seriously though am I the only one who prefers Magnadramon instead? I mean I always considered the angel thing was kind of really Patamon's job, I always grew up LOVING the "cat to a beautiful mammalian dragon" concept. It fits the blooming thing more. It's just so beautiful and cute. Here's hoping Magnadramon makes it in the upcoming movie series
+Tyene1218 91701 Angewomon sorta sealed Gatomon and Patamon as partners in the whole "angel" department. After Angewomon's debut, the two are seen together as or perhaps MORE often than they're seen apart. It makes sense that they'd end up as counterparts at the Mega level, too.
+Tyene1218 91701 Quite the opposite, actually. Most Digimon movies aren't canon with only reference to events in them. The movie this came from, for example, fits nowhere in the series! With that said, the evolution branch can go either way just because its how the series works.
I personally prefer ophanimon over holydramon as after a cat evolved to an angel in the ultimate stage; it should have a complete angel look in the mega stage too. It also support the takari shipping is a second reason; main reason is it's ultimate form is an angel & it seems weird that an angel becomes a holy dragon in the mega form. If tailmon's ultimate form wasn't an angel; the case could be different but here; ophanimon definitely suits better in the mega stage of tailmon.
Peter Tilton Not really. They had all already achieved their Champion levels by the time she came in to the picture. Half of them had already reached Ultimate in fact, and then most of the rest by the time she joined the team. The only difference is that she can maintain it. If anything it would have been unfair for her to be a Rookie because then she would have spent the rest of the season playing catch up. But I do think it's unfair that she got her Ultimate before Patamon.
+Peter Tilton Have you seen the show...at all? The only time Gatomon drops down to Salamon is if she's been fully depleted of her energy. She's naturally a Champion level Digimon, however she isn't as powerful as the others when they become Champions. However her Ultimate is on par with everyone else's

When you put it that way, Magnadramon actually makes more sense than Ophanimon. Why would her line suddenly start sharing similarities right at the end?
Yeah, the only thing that pissed me off about Adventure is the fact that we only saw Agumon and Gabumon's Mega digivolutions and not them all. Probably due to the lack of enough evil Digimon that could help cover their usage, I guess, but still.
It was most likely due to budgeting reason. It was probably to expensive to create warp digivolution sequences for all 8 of them. It also was partly due to plot purposes. Digimon data squad is the only series where all the main character digimon reach the same level as far as I know.
When it comes to Gatomon's Canon Mega without any kind of divine intervention it IS Ophanimon. Gatomon Warp Digivolved into Magnadramon in the Movie because she didn't have her Tail Ring! In a totally different point: I also feel that if they had used the concept of Gatomon having 2 Mega's in Frontier with her being able to Slide Evolve between them I feel there would have been more balance between the 3 Angel Digimon and even possibly more reason for Cherubimon to be angry and easier to manipulate. Tri is coming up so we have all that to look forward to and rid us of the taste Xros Wars left us.
Actually, in the movie it was Angemon who warped digivolve into his Mega. Angewomon simply digivolved normally, from ultimate to mega form. But I do prefer Ophanimon.
Roman Gladiator Actually, the Holy Ring = Ofanimon, no Holy Ring = Holy Dramon theory is a fan theory, and not only is there absolutely no proof of this beyond very shoddy circumstantial evidence (ignoring my next point), but it's already been debunked several times by both Bandai and Toei. I don't get why people believe this lie. In Digimon Adventure Digivice ver 2, AngeWomon evolves into Holy Dramon. She has the Holy Ring there, since this was release about 6 months before 02 started, and appears to represent the Digivice sometime between the Vamdemon and Apocalymon fights. In Digimon Adventure 02: Tag Tamers, AngeWomon evolves into Holy Dramon. She has the Holy Ring there, since this takes place not long after Our War Game. In Digimon Adventure 02: D1 Tamers, AngeWomon evolves into Holy Dramon. She has the Holy Ring there, since this takes place before Ichijôji Ken became the Digimon Kaiser. In Digimon Tamers: Brave Tamer, AngeWomon evolves into Holy Dramon. She has the Holy Ring there, since this takes place after Digimon Adventure 02, after she would have recovered her Holy Ring. In Digimon Rumble Arena, Tailmon warp evolves into Holy Dramon. She has the Holy Ring there, since this would take place some time after Diablomon Strikes Back, considering that Hyper Colosseum heavily implies that Gokumon is the third incarnation of Diablomon. Digivice ver 2 and DRA are of canonicity that can fairly be described as dubious because of no reference, but (on top of that there's actually nothing in either that makes it not canon) it's still official, and still the same exact character, at worst in an alternate continue, and that in itself speaks volumes. Tag Tamers and D1 Tamers, however, are definite canon because without them, 02 wouldn't have happened. Brave Tamer continues that story, so it is also canon, and even explains where all of the other canons come from, making it and 02 the central canon. Tailmon evolves different in Digimon RPG because it's a completely different time line, likewise, Frontier is an alternate universe. Digimon is replete with these.
***** The thing that I don't understand is that you still have Ofanimon. We now have Ofanimon AND Holy Dramon. Why rewrite history to make Holy Dramon a nonperson and replace her with a new character? :( A better solution would be to give Ofanimon a new human partner (the evolutions can be the same, with the aside that Holy Dramon traditionally evolves from Nature Spirits individuals and Ofanimon traditionally evolves from Virus Busters individuals, which can be distinguished by personalities and maybe different markings. Maybe Ofanimon can go full angelic line and also replace Tailmon VB with d'Arcmon VB,) and make that part of the story, but don't change what we already have. Some of us like both, or even prefer Holy Dramon, and this works for everyone. Instead, we're going to be catering to a portion of the fanbase and turning our backs on many of the older fans.
***** Technically, I haven't seen a retcon yet. This is yet another alternate continuity, of which Digimon Adventure has had 7 already. There are events that happen here that don't in the original. And we all know that Bandai's official statement on the matter is that everything counts as canon, new and old, even if it causes continuity errors, just as separate continuities or universes. What gets to me is that most fans have ignored every single AC up until now that wasn't the original (few can even name them all), but now some want to trade away the original for this one, just because of monster choice. If the intention was to replace Digimon Adventure though, Bandai has to come out and say that they are breaking their canon policy and that RPG is the new definitive Digimon Adventure. Until then, we have both of them, but the Brave Tamer-based one is the main one, just as it's always been. I'm not sure if you're familiar with issues that comics have been facing lately with characters being replaced and older characters being dropped off for indetermined periods of time, but this really feels like the same thing to me. ‘The new Power Girl,’ for example, ‘couldn't be a completely different superhero in her own right, because Power Girl is one of the Big Name superheroes, and the new Power Girl would've been overshadowed by the old.’ (Except maybe we weren't even given that explanation for it. ^_^;) But this is what happens with new characters, they have to earn their place. The advantage of this is that Ofanimon can define her own character in her own right. She can even have d'Arcmon and be a Virus Buster individual like I said before, which makes more sense. On top of that, Ofanimon's already pretty well known. She can even give d'Arcmon a hand up. We haven't really seen much of her since Frontier, and it wasn't good PR either. :/ Although, I'll have to admit, the comparisons that you made are a little unfair too. Most fans know of Digimon because of the show. Even here, few people actually know much about Digimon Adventure outside of the show, and many speculate what this game is even about. You're comparing individuals who were in the show to those who weren't (Ofanimon in Digimon Story games, Ulforce V-Dramon I guess from 01). I'm talking about putting a Chosen Child (or Tamer) in a show with their own story and Ofanimon as a partner, pretty much in the spot light. As a side note, I wouldn't say Ulforce is overshadowed either. It depends on who you talk to ; but if it's someone who's only seen the show, of course they'll have very little knowledge of a monster who mostly shows up in manga. In the places I go to, he's pretty well known. The people there have read both V-Tamer 01 and the Xros Wars manga, in both of which, he's a pretty important character. And they poke fun of Imperial Dramon because he didn't live up to expectations. (02 is a pretty weak season over all.) Ulforce is a Royal Knight, has a Force power, has Super Ultimate and X-Antibody forms. Imperial Dramon can't say that. He was mostly only popular in the 02 era and in some team up games. However, Mangamon gets 2/4, but I still don't think anyone's going to pick Mangamon over Ulforce V-Dramon. They would have to know very little about both. Even here on RUclips, I've ran into plenty of Ulforce fans, but not really any Mangamon fans. o.o;

And even if we ignore all of the additional materials and concentrate only on the anime, RPG is still in discontinuity with the original anime. This is enough to make it its own continuity in addition to all of the other ACs and according to the canon policy. As an aside, I'm glad that you recognize that the fact few have had much contact with Brave Tamer (and its prequels) doesn't bar it from mattering. However, I wouldn't call the WonderSwan Color primitive. It was released around the same time as the GBA (albeit, four months in advanced to be more exact), which had similar capabilities and slightly better hardware, but WSC also boasted a much long battery life and lower pricing to compensate. The SwanCrystal added a better LCD screen than GBA's until GBA SP was released. Additionally, the WonderSwan series is THE proprietary system. It was even compatible with the Digimon V-pet series and the Digivices of the time. However, to be fair, do you think Nintendo was going to allow Bandai to add peripherals that only worked for their series of games, which was also a competitor series! It's very dubious. The compatibility between Bandai products was part of what made the WonderSwan series unique, and it was important for most of the Digimon games. Considering this, Bandai had no other choice but to make their own system that allowed them creative freedom over their content. Now, the WonderSwan Color didn't make it to the US because we're kind of cheap parents : we already had the Game Boy, so why buy a slightly improved version (both developed by Yokoi Gunpê, RIP), when you still have the Game Boy! and we're committed : stuck to our guns when the WSC was released, since we in a committed relationship with Nintendo when it came to the handheld market, which even the PSP wouldn't manage to bend, by then. Further, neglect from Bandai shouldn't be enough to count as retconning the original continuity Digimon Adventure either, especially counting the fact that Bandai has released statements that they were changing something in the past, which didn't happen this time around, and there are older series, which people still hold dear despite the neglect. Honestly, people seem a little too eager with jumping ship into RPG being the new base continuity. However, we can only honestly interpret this as meaning that both continuities are canon, but the original anime continuity is the original continuity and base continuity, just as has always been, and just as we did with the 6 other continuities (not counting these two). From my experiences, most of the people playing DMO were anime-only fans and hadn't stepped out to venture into Digimon. Actually, much of the appeal of DMO is that it was a fanmade RPG that featured characters from the anime. However, there had pretty much always been official RPGs made by Bandai that branch off from the anime and were officially continuous. (Frontier was the single exception, :( although Frontier seemed to be heavily inspired by D-Project, which was really fun and I recommend, and Bandai was already doing X-Evolution by the time Frontier ended. In fact, the D-Scanners were compatible with the Pendulum Progresses for significantly greater ease of Jogress in the PenProgs, of which, version 3.0 introduced X-Antibody Digimon.) A determined fan will manage to get as much of the experience as they can, as I did in my freer days, or at least give acknowledgement where it's due.
I'm glad this exists because it makes you realize that WarGreymon was always in the same place as MetalGarurumon, he just turns the entire place red with his fire powers. Hohoumon does something similar but WarGreymon's power makes that moon like place look like the sun's surface.
They fixed their mistake in the original anime by FINALLY giving all Digi-destined their *Mega level* Digimon to deal with Apocalymon. (I don't blame them as the Digimon franchise was just starting back then, but I'm still happy they add this in the video game adaptation of the original Digimon anime! :D)
I really hope that one day, Toei Animation will release a DVD where they change the ending of episode 53 and have 6 filler episodes of the other digimon gain their mega forms (episode 54= Mimi and Rosemon episode 55=TK and Seraphimon episode 56= Izzy and Herculeskabuterimon episode 57= Joe and Vikemon episode 58= Kari and Ophanimon episode 59= Sora and Pheoenixmon) And they remake the final fight with Apocalymon as the 60th episode. I like to call it: Digimon Adventure: The final dark Digimon warp evolve edition.

I think it would be GuardiAngemon/SlashAngemon since it appears in the most recent games as Shakkoumon's Mega form. And you know, seeing him and Hawkmon's Mega Form being Valkyriemon seems like they're like the 'Guardian Angels' to Veemon and Wormmon in Adventure 02 as to Angemon and Angewomon being 'Guardian Angels' to Agumon and Gabumon in Adventure.

digiavenger Those forms were not necessary 1. The designs are bad, Agumon BOC looks like a naked Shinegreymon and Gabumon BOF look like a lobomon cosplayer 2. The names were terrible, what kind of name for a digimon is Bond of courage and bond of friendship? Call them Courageousgreymon and Friendlygarurumon 3. Omnimon has a more powerful form (Merciful Mode) but never bothered using it or alternatively they could use imperialdramon Paladin mode (I don’t care if season 2 cast are hated) 4. We have enough Agumon and Gabumon evolution line we don’t need to see more, Victorygreymon and z’dgarurumon would have been better 5. I’m sick and tired of making Agumon and Gabumon the hero’s and everyone else utterly useless for example why wasn’t Tentomon Patamon palmon gommon in their mega forms why didn’t they use their mega forms to help omnimon knowing that he was running out of energy. The rest were like nah let Tai and Matt solve the problem while we stand here and do nothing

The data size thing is I believe the official Japanese explination as to why she always de-digivolves back into Tailmon and very rarely into Plotmon or Nyaromon again. Yes there are others who have digivolved (assumigly) on their own, but the Wild Digimon have probably stayed in these advanced forms for extensive peroids of time and do not Digivolve on a regular basis, unlike those belonging to the Digidestined.

nice to finally see all the warp to mega forms. when your two leaders have megas and the rest of the team doesn't it makes them seem not as useful. then again magnaangemon could go toe to toe with any mega so i guess he could save the digital world in a heartbeat.
Both Gomamon and Gatomon had alternate mega forms prior to this game. Gomamon had Plesiomon and Gatomon had Magnadramon, but since then they changed it to Vikemon (who used to be Shakkoumon's Mega) and Ophanimon (who wasn't created by the time of the movie Magnadramon first appeared in)
It's not very well known but all the Adventure Chosen have alt evolutions according to Adventure canon =P We see most of these in Tag Tamers. Ofanimon and Vikemon were added in this game. They are: - Agumon's Skull Greymon (you mentioned) - Gabumon's Kéntaurumon - Piyomon's Air Dramon and Griffomon - Tentomon's Yanmamon - Palmon's Jagamon - Gomamon's DriMogemon They are low path evolutions you get if the Digimon isn't holding a DM while it evolves. The Digivices also obviously suppress them =)
Oh, Rumble Arena! I forgotten about that. Yeah, Gatomon did warp digivolve into Magnadramon in that game...but still, at least her Mega being Ophanimon is alright and she is actually considered to be Gatomon's true Mega form. Who could not love her just by looking at her warp digivolution animation, her soaring around and unleashed Eden's Air? It was beautifully awesome.
When it comes to Gatomon’s “canon” mega form, I vastly prefer Magnadramon to Ophanimon. The former mixes the holy, angelic qualities of Angewomon with the beast traits of Gatomon. It also makes her stand out on her own instead of being just a gender swapped Angemon line.

You're probably right about it not likely showing up in the PSN and Vita. As for Tailmon, I think the size explanation isn't as robust as the natural evolution explanation. I say so because we saw a bunch of other Digimon who evolved naturally thusly permanently but weren't as small in the Adventure anime itself (like Leomon, Ogremon, Andromon, almost every Digimon who wasn't a main character). It seems like a secondary explanation, and frankly seems based more on Tailmon's looks than any thing.
Pretty sure Gatomon's mega will be magnadramon because 1. The movie 2. The "updated" digivice that they remade showcased magnadramon as gatomon's mega... Also think about the cuteness of a Kitty > Puppy > Cat > Angel > Dragon

And even their Armor evolutions are counterparts of each other. Pataman mon evolves into a Four Legged thing with wings. And Gatomon also evolves into a Four Legged thing with wings.
Ophanimon was used in this game for gameplay balance Angewomon was the healer and Ophanimon also was healer but Holydramon doesn’t have healing skills since Seraphmon was the holy damage dealer they didn’t want Holydramon since she would function the same as Seraphmon but instead they put Ophanimon Furthermore it made more sense to use ophanimon because Tailmon evolved to Angewomon against Vandermon and in this game when you face Venomvandermon at the end before Apocalypsemon Tailmon warp evolves to Ophanimon which makes more sense for her to be an angel to combat demon type digimon also Tailmon and Patamon have always been the Male/female counterpart if each other

It always irritated me that Matt and Tai went Mega and the others stayed at ultimate, it just made the others seem useless to me when at any time Tai or Matt could go Mega and win the fight.

Also Leomon explainned that he can digivolve at will to SaberLeomon thanks to being exposed to the Digivices on File Island while aiding Mimi and Joe against MetalEtemon. So natual digivolution it seems can aid a Digimon to stay at a single level, but only if they adapt to cope at that stage so that they won't de-digivolve by exserting a massive amount of energy while fighting, like the Digidestined's Digimon do on a regular basis.

Why do I feel like crying every goddamn time I hear Braveheart. I really want to get back into Digimon, it was one of the best shows from my childhood and I think it would've been awesome if those were in the show~
Or maybe because the PSP in America started to die out and focus on the Vita. What I'm hoping is a remake on either a home console, like the WiiU, PS4, Or Xbone, or on the 3DS. (Maybe they could remake 02 as well) I don't mind if they get all of the original voice cast back if the new voice actors at least do a good job replicating the originals. However, Joshua Seth has shown interest in reprising his role as Tai, so we'll see.

I think it's because they wanted Orphanimon to fit alongside Seraphimon and notice in the movie that Angewomon actually digivolve into Magnadramon while in the game, Tailmon/Gatomon warp digivolve into Orphanimon, so Gatomon have 2 split Mega forms. I was also surprised that Vikemon being Gomamon's Mega form instead of Plesiomon but it makes sense, Vikemon is the leader of the Ikkakumon and Zudomon corps and Vikemon's appearance has that Ikkakumon's vibe, so does his weapon to Zudomon.
I hope so too, but 02 gets little love from Bandai :( One can almost sense that the Xros Wars manga and this game might foreshadow a recon of 02 out of the newer Xros Wars canon. Oh, well, we'll always have the Brave Tamer canon

Yes, Gomamon have two Mega forms, his original one is Plesiomon while the other is Vikemon, however, the latter is his true Mega form and it actually fits since the info say that Vikemon is the leader of the Ikkakumon/Zudomon Corps.
For Tailmon, just remember that Digimon can have split digivolutions and can become different digimon. A lot of people say that the reason of why she become Magnadramon is because she lacks the Holy Ring in 02 anime. If she has it, my guess that she became Ophanimon.

For her ultimate it would be angewomon, has four mega forms magnadramon/ophanimon/ophanimon fall down mode/examon, DNA with aquillamon to make silphymon, the digifuse is shoutmon XF7 superior mode...so on
She knows at least 8 stages by herself right there with the first three only usable if she experiences energy loss or takes damage
all other forms she would know as would not have been canon for her to use if she identifies with at least two more armor forms tylomon and butterflymon and at least 7 other armor digi eggs, it lets gatomon have the single most by natural means with 19 different ways in which to Digivolve at once...yeah its a strong one

Or only some effects, like rosemon with petals falling in the background, vikemon in a snowstorm, ophanimom keeping the aurora, etc.
It’s a PSP game. They probably cut corners somewhere and they chose here.
Watching this just made me realize how awesome the Mega and Ultimate Digivolutions were in comparison to the new style Tri uses. Also, By using an animation that looked different from the previous stages, the original anime gave the ultimate forms a much greater sense of power.

I noticed something about Rosemon’s outfit: she remains green until she got all parts of her outfit unlike the rest of the group. Similar to how plants start out green then eventually turn into a different color while maintaining the leaves and some parts green.

Pokemon has always largely been about catching and raising several Pokemon to build a team to use to beat gyms and eventually become the champion of whatever region the game takes place in, and the anime has had Ash and Pikachu as the series main characters for the longest time now, so much so that there's even another new Pikachu in the newest anime, Horizons. Digimon is very different, having been about adventuring in a digital world and defeating some evil threat, with most characters only having 1 specific Digimon as their partner in most cases, and the anime keeps on using a different cast of characters with each new season they make (outside of the adventure continuity and it's reboot). The only real thing the 2 series have in common is that they are both about the monsters and the bonds they develop with their human partners, and even then, they are treated differently in the way their evolution lines are structured: Pokemon almost exclusively have one particular line that they use and don't vary from that, unless it's something with 2 or more evolved forms, like Slowpoke, Tyrouge, or Eevee, for example. Digimon, meanwhile, usually tend to have several different digivolutions that any one can become -- it's just usually simplified to having 1 "main" line in the anime for the sake of consistency, and unlike Pokemon, a Digimon's digivolution can be reversed after enough time (at least for those that have human partners). And all this is without even mentioning that it's most often an evil Digimon that is the main villain in a story, while for Pokemon, it's generally some sort of evil team that are the antagonists. I could list more examples, but to claim that the 2 series are "similar in every aspect" is false when you actually compare them side by side
Same as Leomon. Warp shinka is an accelerated evolution from A to B, it doesn't require a specific stage/level to start from so long as it isn't in perfect form (for which warp evolution would be overkill)

Yes it's awssome that we finally see CGI evolutions for Phoenixmon, HerculesKakuterimon, Rosemon and Seraphimon, as well as Orphanimon and Vikemon. Though this is a PSP game exclusive to Japan and it's likely it will stay that way. I guess by some miracle it could become a PS Vita game for outside Japan, though somehow I doubt Sony will take the time to try and convert it, then again it could become a downloadable game...really who can say, but I have my doubts.

Yes, it's true. As long as each of the character's rank are above 4 and each of their total amount of friendship points are above 35 or more, you're safe. During the courses of the game, when you talk to a character or he/she talks to you, you will be given choices. If you pick the correct one, you get a friendship rank up on that character/vice versa. You also need to do all the sub quests because there's a lot of friendship levelling in there.
Dude, every Digimon has different evolution paths. They just went with these for this game.

Yeah, it's fun. It's like the original Digivice but PSP ver. You get to choose either one of the 8 digimon partners and stick with it (you will get the others later). The different between the original and the PSP ver is that in the original, you have to shake the Digivice or walk along with it for your Digimon to walk to encounter enemies while in the PSP ver, you just keep pressing triangle or square to walk your Digimon. And yeah, I found out that Vikemon and Ophanimon are in the PSP ver.
I wish they'd bring out this in english. That way, we can see all this awesomeness in english! Although, then again, they'd probably do it to preview Digimon Hunters or when it's fully dubbed.

Well, I always thought that Plesiomon is mega form of Gomamon.
And, Lotusmon maybe can be mega of Lalamon.
Lilamon digivolve in Lotusmon in Digimon world Dawn.
Lotusmon was designed as Lilamon's evolution; Toei did an odd take when using Rosemon in Savers.
Vikemon started as Shakkoumon's evolution, while Plesiomon was Joe's Gomamon's original final form. Nowadays (7 years after that comment was made) Bandai goes with Slash Angemon for Shakkoumon's evolution.
Toei keeps pushing to use Holydramon as Angewomon's evolution, but Bandai has been using Ophanimon for this Angewomon since they introduced the species, and the Adventure reboot is using Ophanimon.

Quite the opposite, actually. Most Digimon movies aren't canon with only reference to events in them.
The movie this came from, for example, fits nowhere in the series!
With that said, the evolution branch can go either way just because its how the series works.
I personally prefer ophanimon over holydramon as after a cat evolved to an angel in the ultimate stage; it should have a complete angel look in the mega stage too. It also support the takari shipping is a second reason; main reason is it's ultimate form is an angel & it seems weird that an angel becomes a holy dragon in the mega form. If tailmon's ultimate form wasn't an angel; the case could be different but here; ophanimon definitely suits better in the mega stage of tailmon.

Peter Tilton Not really. They had all already achieved their Champion levels by the time she came in to the picture. Half of them had already reached Ultimate in fact, and then most of the rest by the time she joined the team. The only difference is that she can maintain it. If anything it would have been unfair for her to be a Rookie because then she would have spent the rest of the season playing catch up. But I do think it's unfair that she got her Ultimate before Patamon.

The only time Gatomon drops down to Salamon is if she's been fully depleted of her energy. She's naturally a Champion level Digimon, however she isn't as powerful as the others when they become Champions. However her Ultimate is on par with everyone else's

Yeah, the only thing that pissed me off about Adventure is the fact that we only saw Agumon and Gabumon's Mega digivolutions and not them all.
Probably due to the lack of enough evil Digimon that could help cover their usage, I guess, but still.
It was most likely due to budgeting reason. It was probably to expensive to create warp digivolution sequences for all 8 of them. It also was partly due to plot purposes. Digimon data squad is the only series where all the main character digimon reach the same level as far as I know.

When it comes to Gatomon's Canon Mega without any kind of divine intervention it IS Ophanimon. Gatomon Warp Digivolved into Magnadramon in the Movie because she didn't have her Tail Ring!
In a totally different point: I also feel that if they had used the concept of Gatomon having 2 Mega's in Frontier with her being able to Slide Evolve between them I feel there would have been more balance between the 3 Angel Digimon and even possibly more reason for Cherubimon to be angry and easier to manipulate.
Tri is coming up so we have all that to look forward to and rid us of the taste Xros Wars left us.
Actually, in the movie it was Angemon who warped digivolve into his Mega. Angewomon simply digivolved normally, from ultimate to mega form. But I do prefer Ophanimon.
Roman Gladiator Actually, the Holy Ring = Ofanimon, no Holy Ring = Holy Dramon theory is a fan theory, and not only is there absolutely no proof of this beyond very shoddy circumstantial evidence (ignoring my next point), but it's already been debunked several times by both Bandai and Toei. In Digimon Adventure Digivice ver 2, AngeWomon evolves into Holy Dramon. She has the Holy Ring there, since this was release about 6 months before 02 started, and appears to represent the Digivice sometime between the Vamdemon and Apocalymon fights.
In Digimon Adventure 02: Tag Tamers, AngeWomon evolves into Holy Dramon. She has the Holy Ring there, since this takes place not long after Our War Game.
In Digimon Adventure 02: D1 Tamers, AngeWomon evolves into Holy Dramon. She has the Holy Ring there, since this takes place before Ichijôji Ken became the Digimon Kaiser.
In Digimon Tamers: Brave Tamer, AngeWomon evolves into Holy Dramon. She has the Holy Ring there, since this takes place after Digimon Adventure 02, after she would have recovered her Holy Ring.
In Digimon Rumble Arena, Tailmon warp evolves into Holy Dramon. She has the Holy Ring there, since this would take place some time after Diablomon Strikes Back, considering that Hyper Colosseum heavily implies that Gokumon is the third incarnation of Diablomon.
Digivice ver 2 and DRA are of canonicity that can fairly be described as dubious because of no reference, but (on top of that there's actually nothing in either that makes it not canon) it's still official, and still the same exact character, at worst in an alternate continue, and that in itself speaks volumes.
Tag Tamers and D1 Tamers, however, are definite canon because without them, 02 wouldn't have happened. Brave Tamer continues that story, so it is also canon, and even explains where all of the other canons come from, making it and 02 the central canon.
Tailmon evolves different in Digimon RPG because it's a completely different time line, likewise, Frontier is an alternate universe. Digimon is replete with these.
***** The thing that I don't understand is that you still have Ofanimon. We now have Ofanimon AND Holy Dramon. Why rewrite history to make Holy Dramon a nonperson and replace her with a new character? :(
A better solution would be to give Ofanimon a new human partner (the evolutions can be the same, with the aside that Holy Dramon traditionally evolves from Nature Spirits individuals and Ofanimon traditionally evolves from Virus Busters individuals, which can be distinguished by personalities and maybe different markings. Maybe Ofanimon can go full angelic line and also replace Tailmon VB with d'Arcmon VB,) and make that part of the story, but don't change what we already have.
Some of us like both, or even prefer Holy Dramon, and this works for everyone. Instead, we're going to be catering to a portion of the fanbase and turning our backs on many of the older fans.
***** Technically, I haven't seen a retcon yet. This is yet another alternate continuity, of which Digimon Adventure has had 7 already. There are events that happen here that don't in the original. And we all know that Bandai's official statement on the matter is that everything counts as canon, new and old, even if it causes continuity errors, just as separate continuities or universes. What gets to me is that most fans have ignored every single AC up until now that wasn't the original (few can even name them all), but now some want to trade away the original for this one, just because of monster choice. If the intention was to replace Digimon Adventure though, Bandai has to come out and say that they are breaking their canon policy and that RPG is the new definitive Digimon Adventure. Until then, we have both of them, but the Brave Tamer-based one is the main one, just as it's always been.
I'm not sure if you're familiar with issues that comics have been facing lately with characters being replaced and older characters being dropped off for indetermined periods of time, but this really feels like the same thing to me. ‘The new Power Girl,’ for example, ‘couldn't be a completely different superhero in her own right, because Power Girl is one of the Big Name superheroes, and the new Power Girl would've been overshadowed by the old.’ (Except maybe we weren't even given that explanation for it. ^_^;) But this is what happens with new characters, they have to earn their place. The advantage of this is that Ofanimon can define her own character in her own right. She can even have d'Arcmon and be a Virus Buster individual like I said before, which makes more sense. On top of that, Ofanimon's already pretty well known. She can even give d'Arcmon a hand up. We haven't really seen much of her since Frontier, and it wasn't good PR either. :/
Although, I'll have to admit, the comparisons that you made are a little unfair too. Most fans know of Digimon because of the show. Even here, few people actually know much about Digimon Adventure outside of the show, and many speculate what this game is even about. You're comparing individuals who were in the show to those who weren't (Ofanimon in Digimon Story games, Ulforce V-Dramon I guess from 01). I'm talking about putting a Chosen Child (or Tamer) in a show with their own story and Ofanimon as a partner, pretty much in the spot light.
As a side note, I wouldn't say Ulforce is overshadowed either. It depends on who you talk to ; but if it's someone who's only seen the show, of course they'll have very little knowledge of a monster who mostly shows up in manga. In the places I go to, he's pretty well known. The people there have read both V-Tamer 01 and the Xros Wars manga, in both of which, he's a pretty important character. And they poke fun of Imperial Dramon because he didn't live up to expectations. (02 is a pretty weak season over all.) Ulforce is a Royal Knight, has a Force power, has Super Ultimate and X-Antibody forms. Imperial Dramon can't say that. He was mostly only popular in the 02 era and in some team up games. However, Mangamon gets 2/4, but I still don't think anyone's going to pick Mangamon over Ulforce V-Dramon. They would have to know very little about both. Even here on RUclips, I've ran into plenty of Ulforce fans, but not really any Mangamon fans. o.o;
***** What I meant by the Brave Tamer continuity is actually the original anime continuity. And even if we ignore all of the additional materials and concentrate only on the anime, RPG is still in discontinuity with the original anime. This is enough to make it its own continuity in addition to all of the other ACs and according to the canon policy.
As an aside, I'm glad that you recognize that the fact few have had much contact with Brave Tamer (and its prequels) doesn't bar it from mattering. However, I wouldn't call the WonderSwan Color primitive. It was released around the same time as the GBA (albeit, four months in advanced to be more exact), which had similar capabilities and slightly better hardware, but WSC also boasted a much long battery life and lower pricing to compensate. The SwanCrystal added a better LCD screen than GBA's until GBA SP was released. Additionally, the WonderSwan series is THE proprietary system. It was even compatible with the Digimon V-pet series and the Digivices of the time. However, to be fair, do you think Nintendo was going to allow Bandai to add peripherals that only worked for their series of games, which was also a competitor series! It's very dubious. The compatibility between Bandai products was part of what made the WonderSwan series unique, and it was important for most of the Digimon games. Considering this, Bandai had no other choice but to make their own system that allowed them creative freedom over their content.
Now, the WonderSwan Color didn't make it to the US because we're kind of cheap parents : we already had the Game Boy, so why buy a slightly improved version (both developed by Yokoi Gunpê, RIP), when you still have the Game Boy! and we're committed : stuck to our guns when the WSC was released, since we in a committed relationship with Nintendo when it came to the handheld market, which even the PSP wouldn't manage to bend, by then.
Further, neglect from Bandai shouldn't be enough to count as retconning the original continuity Digimon Adventure either, especially counting the fact that Bandai has released statements that they were changing something in the past, which didn't happen this time around, and there are older series, which people still hold dear despite the neglect. Honestly, people seem a little too eager with jumping ship into RPG being the new base continuity. However, we can only honestly interpret this as meaning that both continuities are canon, but the original anime continuity is the original continuity and base continuity, just as has always been, and just as we did with the 6 other continuities (not counting these two).
From my experiences, most of the people playing DMO were anime-only fans and hadn't stepped out to venture into Digimon. Actually, much of the appeal of DMO is that it was a fanmade RPG that featured characters from the anime. However, there had pretty much always been official RPGs made by Bandai that branch off from the anime and were officially continuous. (Frontier was the single exception, :( although Frontier seemed to be heavily inspired by D-Project, which was really fun and I recommend, and Bandai was already doing X-Evolution by the time Frontier ended. In fact, the D-Scanners were compatible with the Pendulum Progresses for significantly greater ease of Jogress in the PenProgs, of which, version 3.0 introduced X-Antibody Digimon.) A determined fan will manage to get as much of the experience as they can, as I did in my freer days, or at least give acknowledgement where it's due.
I'm glad this exists because it makes you realize that WarGreymon was always in the same place as MetalGarurumon, he just turns the entire place red with his fire powers. Hohoumon does something similar but WarGreymon's power makes that moon like place look like the sun's surface.

They fixed their mistake in the original anime by FINALLY giving all Digi-destined their *Mega level* Digimon to deal with Apocalymon.
(I don't blame them as the Digimon franchise was just starting back then, but I'm still happy they add this in the video game adaptation of the original Digimon anime! :D)

I'm so happy they used Ophanimon! Though I'm a little sad there was no evolution for Plotmon (Salamon) in this game. Anyway, I love Tailmon's evolutions.
I think it would be GuardiAngemon/SlashAngemon since it appears in the most recent games as Shakkoumon's Mega form. And you know, seeing him and Hawkmon's Mega Form being Valkyriemon seems like they're like the 'Guardian Angels' to Veemon and Wormmon in Adventure 02 as to Angemon and Angewomon being 'Guardian Angels' to Agumon and Gabumon in Adventure.

1. The designs are bad, Agumon BOC looks like a naked Shinegreymon and Gabumon BOF look like a lobomon cosplayer
2. The names were terrible, what kind of name for a digimon is Bond of courage and bond of friendship? Call them Courageousgreymon and Friendlygarurumon
3. Omnimon has a more powerful form (Merciful Mode) but never bothered using it or alternatively they could use imperialdramon Paladin mode (I don’t care if season 2 cast are hated)
4. We have enough Agumon and Gabumon evolution line we don’t need to see more, Victorygreymon and z’dgarurumon would have been better

I’m sick and tired of making Agumon and Gabumon the hero’s and everyone else utterly useless for example why wasn’t Tentomon Patamon palmon gommon in their mega forms why didn’t they use their mega forms to help omnimon knowing that he was running out of energy. Digimon Tri confirmed these, with the exception of Ophanimon, but her dark form, Ophanimon Falldown Mode, is in movie 5.
The data size thing is I believe the official Japanese explination as to why she always de-digivolves back into Tailmon and very rarely into Plotmon or Nyaromon again. Yes there are others who have digivolved (assumigly) on their own, but the Wild Digimon have probably stayed in these advanced forms for extensive peroids of time and do not Digivolve on a regular basis, unlike those belonging to the Digidestined.

nice to finally see all the warp to mega forms. when your two leaders have megas and the rest of the team doesn't it makes them seem not as useful. then again magnaangemon could go toe to toe with any mega so i guess he could save the digital world in a heartbeat.

Both Gomamon and Gatomon had alternate mega forms prior to this game. Gomamon had Plesiomon and Gatomon had Magnadramon, but since then they changed it to Vikemon (who used to be Shakkoumon's Mega) and Ophanimon (who wasn't created by the time of the movie Magnadramon first appeared in)

It's not very well known but all the Adventure Chosen have alt evolutions according to Adventure canon =P We see most of these in Tag Tamers. Ofanimon and Vikemon were added in this game. They are:
- Agumon's Skull Greymon (you mentioned)
- Gabumon's Kéntaurumon
- Piyomon's Air Dramon and Griffomon
- Tentomon's Yanmamon
- Palmon's Jagamon
- Gomamon's DriMogemon
They are low path evolutions you get if the Digimon isn't holding a DM while it evolves. The Digivices also obviously suppress them =)

Oh, Rumble Arena! I forgotten about that. Yeah, Gatomon did warp digivolve into Magnadramon in that game...but still, at least her Mega being Ophanimon is alright and she is actually considered to be Gatomon's true Mega form. Who could not love her just by looking at her warp digivolution animation, her soaring around and unleashed Eden's Air? It was beautifully awesome.
When it comes to Gatomon’s “canon” mega form, I vastly prefer Magnadramon to Ophanimon. The former mixes the holy, angelic qualities of Angewomon with the beast traits of Gatomon. It also makes her stand out on her own instead of being just a gender swapped Angemon line.

You're probably right about it not likely showing up in the PSN and Vita.
As for Tailmon, I think the size explanation isn't as robust as the natural evolution explanation. I say so because we saw a bunch of other Digimon who evolved naturally thusly permanently but weren't as small in the Adventure anime itself (like Leomon, Ogremon, Andromon, almost every Digimon who wasn't a main character). It seems like a secondary explanation, and frankly seems based more on Tailmon's looks than any thing.
Pretty sure Gatomon's mega will be magnadramon because 1. The movie 2. The "updated" digivice that they remade showcased magnadramon as gatomon's mega...
Also think about the cuteness of a Kitty > Puppy > Cat > Angel > Dragon

So it makes more sense for it to turn into the Female of version of Seraphimon instead of a noodle dog.
And even their Armor evolutions are counterparts of each other. Pataman mon evolves into a Four Legged thing with wings. And Gatomon also evolves into a Four Legged thing with wings.

Angewomon was the healer and Ophanimon also was healer but Holydramon doesn’t have healing skills since Seraphmon was the holy damage dealer they didn’t want Holydramon since she would function the same as Seraphmon but instead they put Ophanimon
Furthermore it made more sense to use ophanimon because Tailmon evolved to Angewomon against Vandermon and in this game when you face Venomvandermon at the end before Apocalypsemon Tailmon warp evolves to Ophanimon which makes more sense for her to be an angel to combat demon type digimon also Tailmon and Patamon have always been the Male/female counterpart if each other
Tailmon's ultimate is Holydramon and it makes sense since Tailmon is beast type just like Holydramon

Magnadramon apareció en la primera película de 02, por eso es canónico. Me fastidia, porque aparte de que me gusta bastante más Ophanimon como compañera de Hikari, la película de 02 está llena de inconsistencias y no merece seguir en el canon, pero bueno, hablamos de Trollei.
Pero aún no hay que descartar que aparezca Ophanimon como una evolución alternativa de Angewomon en tri.

Also Leomon explainned that he can digivolve at will to SaberLeomon thanks to being exposed to the Digivices on File Island while aiding Mimi and Joe against MetalEtemon. So natual digivolution it seems can aid a Digimon to stay at a single level, but only if they adapt to cope at that stage so that they won't de-digivolve by exserting a massive amount of energy while fighting, like the Digidestined's Digimon do on a regular basis.

Or maybe because the PSP in America started to die out and focus on the Vita. What I'm hoping is a remake on either a home console, like the WiiU, PS4, Or Xbone, or on the 3DS. (Maybe they could remake 02 as well) I don't mind if they get all of the original voice cast back if the new voice actors at least do a good job replicating the originals. However, Joshua Seth has shown interest in reprising his role as Tai, so we'll see.

Dokemon Studios If cross platform games were a thing (outside of the mobile market), it wouldn't be a problem which console sells better in which country. However, it's bad for business, such a shame :/ Good programming practices always seem to be bad business practices.
I think it's because they wanted Orphanimon to fit alongside Seraphimon and notice in the movie that Angewomon actually digivolve into Magnadramon while in the game, Tailmon/Gatomon warp digivolve into Orphanimon, so Gatomon have 2 split Mega forms. I was also surprised that Vikemon being Gomamon's Mega form instead of Plesiomon but it makes sense, Vikemon is the leader of the Ikkakumon and Zudomon corps and Vikemon's appearance has that Ikkakumon's vibe, so does his weapon to Zudomon.

I hope so too, but 02 gets little love from Bandai :( One can almost sense that the Xros Wars manga and this game might foreshadow a recon of 02 out of the newer Xros Wars canon. Oh, well, we'll always have the Brave Tamer canon
I love coming back and watching this, was disappointed that we didn’t get Ophanimon in tri :(
