    I was just there and people are leaving so much trash and they have been tagging in (graffiti everywhere) is sad . We gotta save this place from trash !
    God bless

    • @RunningwaterPDP

      Yes the trash and graffiti thing is such a sore on the eyes. I'm thinking visitor education, enough dumpsters to serve the amount of people that actually visit the river. And some consequences for littering. But over it's a wonderful place. God bless.

    There is a lot of comments about people who visit places like this and either destroying it i or leaving their trash behind or not leaving shit they do not want to carry back. I work for the county and because of the mess people leave they may close it. Apparently the wild life is suffering as well. The homeless if they are sill there are out soon as well. Everyone should treat this place like they own it and they do if you think about it ..everyone is a tax payer...it looks like a great spot

    • @RunningwaterPDP
      @RunningwaterPDP  Год назад +5

      I can't deny it. I don't understand? I found a folding chair once just left behind like what? I've gotten two comments about homeless people or a camp. That I have never seen or I've never run into a homeless person out there. That's interesting. That would be sad if they closed this place really. I hope not because yes it's a great spot, It really is.

      @@Glamgrlsf yes. I'm thinking of a 3 point solution. 1 Visitor education. 2 Adequate dumpsters for the volume of people who actually visit. 3 consequences in the form of fines. @@RunningwaterPDP I've been going to that area for years and I always see people bringing large barbeques disregarding potential fires. They also leave soiled diapers and trash behind and even break glass bottles against the rocks. Not to mention the graffiti, drunk people and parking anywhere they please. It doesn't get any more ghetto than that. They need to start sending rangers to control this, fines and arrest in some cases. It's a disgrace for such a beautiful place.

      In 1980, a friend of mine and my eldest son went into the Arroyo Seco River near Fort Hunter Ligget and floated this river. I told my wife we'd be home on the 2nd night....truth is on that 2nd night we had NO idea of where we even were and didn't finally reach civilization until the end of the third day. The following year, we repeated the adventure, but this time with five of us....and we spent five days on the river. Deep in the canyon, caught a few 20" trout to have for dinner. No bulky fishing poles.....just a willow banch....and, no fishing license. Both times we never saw another soul until our last day on the river.
      On the third day, we found another 'fork' entering the main river, which was almost equal to the one we were on, and spent a day going UP that tributary and exploring it. Now looking back on it, I consider this to be the greatest adventure of my life, for we truly had no idea of the depth of the adventure we would be tackling. Also, whether the state likes it or not, we killed two rattlesnakes....and saw two beautiful banded king snakes....one red and the other yellow....which we left alone. BHE

      It doesn’t look like that anymore I live in the area like literally a five minute walk from the area and unfortunately it’s no longer our open secret. I have no problem with people going exploring and being in nature it’s just the wrong type of people they leave trash empty bottles sometimes even halfway empty bottles and I have found a couple of chickens with their heads cut off not to mention the homeless population and a bunch of drug paraphernalia I found there are somehow fish in the river though I’m not too sure how but there are. In good news though if you travel down the river from the bridge he’s talking about and go up one of the offshoots that leads near the community you will eventually find a broken down car and if you go further a cabin foundation with a Stone oven if you make a hard right from the cabin facing along the river there is a little rock scramble you can climb up that no one knows about I do have to be decently experienced at hiking otherwise you’re not finding it hence why no one knows about it.

    Glad you're showing something in LA County since that area has such a bad name. We should talk though. In Anaheim we have a tributary of the San Gabriel River named Carbon Creek. It starts where the primary water table below us comes to the surface. But the creek is usually dry because it's intercepted by wells that are dug at the point where the water starts coming out of the ground. The city Public Works Department is in charge of that. There's a water treatment plant also right after the wells. The tap water here is awful, tasting heavily of hydrochloric acid. You can boil it and the taste is still there. You have to mix instant coffee grounds into the water to make it palatable, or use some kind of filtration system yourself. If they left the area alone there would be a perennial stream here, since the water table is vast and replenishing from deep below the earth. Just to the east, there's a barely perceptible elevated spine of land, running from the mountains to the ocean, separating the San Gabriel and Santa Ana River watersheds. Most people have no idea this arrangement even exists, and that's the way the government likes it.

      I personally get it at 944 N Azusa Ave, Azusa, CA 91702 it's a liquor store that's the address. It's located before going up the mountain on N Azuza Ave (hwy 39) I've seen the Santa Ana sucker, trout and spotted dace.

    Good thing it takes some hiking to get to, otherwise it would be filled with diapers and trash.

      Unfortunately for the San Gabriel mountains, they tower over L.A. metro with a population of 12 million people. The poorest and least educated people visit the river, coupled with the forest service not providing adequate service for the amount of visitors the mountain receives is a recipe for disaster. Seeing natural areas get trashed can cause anger I get it. However as you can see in the video, the San Gabriel mountains are still a wonderful place to visit. 👌
