    Dating in Norway goes like this (Typical Norwegian life cycle):
    1 One night Stand
    2 Dinner (Pay for your slef bror)
    3 Getting to know each other
    4 Maybe move together (while everyone pay for them selves)
    5 Have 1 and a half kid
    6 Seperate or get married (make sure you do not invade the space of one another)
    7 Divorce = Anxiety
    8 Sick-leave/Retirement

    interesting video ! One of my best friends is norwegian and we both grew up in seoul and America but she explained to me that dating culture is different in Norway. I am a bit surprised the people here did not explain more how you hook up a few times and then a relationship can develop from there. To me that’s the only part of Norway i am uncomfortable with, only because i am extremely shy and i couldn’t give that to my partner unless i was 💯 comfortable with them and i have to know them very well first of all. I’m also just hesistant bc I come from two cultures where STD’s are feared and honestly, I would not like that 😂The bit about American media was funny. American dating in itself makes no sense. Both Korean and American dating culture is 💯 different from Norway. I’m not trying to criticize any country, just sharing my thoughts :) i wonder how you managed to talk to people on the streets in norway, how scary! 😉😂

    • @nattifrutti
      @nattifrutti 3 года назад +20

      I'm Norwegian, and I also don't like do do anything like a hookup unless I'm 100% comfortable with the person. You just have to be upfront with that, and people will respect you :) if they don't, then they're not someone you'd want to spend your time with.
      It's very chill when you date, it's kinda like going out for coffee with a friend, and you just get to know each other like you're 2 friends, and then later on, if you want to see each other again, you can do something more date-like(but very chill! Not a restaurant). You just have to clarify that you are looking for a relationship, that you want to get to know a person, and that you aren't comfortable with sex early on like other people may be comfortable with. I'm like that, and people respect that. You don't have to go that route that includes such things. One just have to specify that so that others will understand. And then it will be easier for you. And you'll just have to find a person that wants the same. You don't have to do anything that you're not comfortable with doing just because others go that route :)

    Living here for almost 5 years now and I can say that the dating culture in Norway is a little bit different than the rest of the world. Just because you hooked up doesn't mean you are dating & dating starts backwards that is why dating apps are so popular. You start with physical intimacy first, afterwards, if you find out that you are both interested in same things then you can decide to go on a date/dinner/coffee and start to get to know each other. That is why it is not uncommon to see (most young people) have multiple partners in both genders. But this does not apply of course to everyone.

I would keep out from the tiniest valleys if you want to be close to a city, yet if you find the right village you may be lucky and find friends for life 😊 Generally Northern (and Western?) Norwegians are considered most open and straightforward, but it depends on what you like. And sadly Northern (and some Western) parts of Norway are more isolated, so it may be more complicated to travel to central places.

    The reason why i hate dating apps is because how a man gets attracted to women is completely different then how women gets attracted to men. Men simply needs women to look pretty for him to decide if he wants to sleep with her or not. So tinder works very well for women. But when it comes to women, they dont care about appearance as much as men, they care about a man's character more. Which is why dating apps dont work well for men. How are u going to display ur attractive characters traits through a freaking text? And u only get the opportunity to display ur character through text only if the women actually matches with u and actually has a conversation with u. And as mentioned, women dont get attracted to a man's physical trait. Most women rate 80% of men below average in appearance. So good luck getting matched with just ur pictures.

      Women caring less about appearance than men is a ridiculous myth spread by pop culture. Your yourself said it. "Most women rate 80% of men below average appearance," ie women are much pickier than men and they ALSO look for other things other than looks. How do you go from this statistical fact to "women don't get attracted to men's physical traits"? Makes no sense. The reason dating apps don't work well for men is because... 80% of them are rated below average by women lol.

    • @acethefiredragon8525
      @acethefiredragon8525 3 года назад

      @@ihsahnakerfeldt9280 Bruh how do u go from me saying "Women dont care about appearance as much as men" to "women dont get attracted by a man's physical traits." I never said women *dont care,* i said that women dont care *as much* as men. I.e a man's physical trait has far less impact on deciding whether the woman wants to sleep with him than it has on men. 80% of men is rated below average, but if 80% is below average then that becomes the new average. Which means that the average man, is not very attractive to the average woman. But I am pretty certain that most men would rate the average woman as attractive.

      I think the whole "women don't care about looks" is perpetuated by the women who marry primarily for financial security . I always made my own money, so I didn't have to sacrifice actually being with someone I wanted to f&^k just to gain some financial security.

Being roommates, work, friends of friends, concerts, parties etc. Don't hope that you're ever going to meet up with a stranger on the street and hit it off. This is simply not how people from these cultures operate. Northern European cultures in particular are very individualistic and reserved.

It originates from piloting ships into harbours. When the pilot had no landmarks to orientate himself, he had "keine Peilung", ie couldn't find the direction where he should go.
    Seems fitting since the Hanseatic League played a big part in Norway's history as well, and both languages (Norwegian and German) seem to have influenced each other to a great extend because of that.
    EDIT: 10:28 I find it interesting that she says "tyveårene" and not "tjueårene". So... that means I won't stick out as a weirdo if I say "tyv" instead of "tjue"? I just find it way easier to pronounce "tyv" than "tjue", heh.

    Since I can accept being and probably remaining single I feel much better even if I would like to have a girlfriend. This aim lost its importance to me. In the last weeks or months there developed a fear of being in a relationship - not a really big one but a fear I recognize, 'cause I didn't experienced how it is to live with a partner and so I'm a bit of afraid of doing something wrong. But as I mentioned for me it's really OK now. Nevertheless it's an interesting theme so I've enjoyed that video. It's interesting to see how people in other countries are living, thinking and so on. I think it's a good way how one of the women told that it's good to do activities instead of dates where you're just talking. So you can avoid these gaps when you don't know what to tell next. Unfortunately I often had problems to read the subtitles 'cause they changed so fast. Perhaps I'm just too slow or maybe Norwegian is a more "fast spoken" language. Incidentally I watched "Vikings" which plays in Norway (but I'm waiting for the release of the second part of the 6th season on Netflix). :)
