Thank you for continuing to show up as your authentic self. I struggle with the same things girl. Especially after I do something I am proud of I think “well can’t top that 😅🤷🏽‍♂️” and that fear of failure is crrrriiiiplling some days. Thank you for opening your heart to everyone here. My general approach with my channel is I wake up in the morning and I film whatever I feel like filming. Sometimes that means not filming at all if I'm not in the mood. Sometimes that means exploring a place and making a long video. Sometimes that means making one clip walking along talking about a place and some of my experiences, and then doing minimal editing of that one clip. I keep things kind of random and unpredictable so that there isn't this expectation that every video is going to be bigger and better than the last one or the absolute best video possible. I just try to go with what I actually feel like doing. That way there's less pressure of having to meet someone else's expectations and it's more about going with my creative impulse, for better or for worse. And the funny thing is that sometimes my worst videos are the ones that end up performing the best anyway. I would say try different things to open up the possibilities more, so that you don't feel constricted to having to create a certain type of video. I bet people will appreciate seeing things from some different angles and in different styles.

Raya, THANK YOU FOR THIS. I legit was face timing my mom 3 hours ago, tearing up, saying to her that whatever I do it never feels good enough. I've been battling so much self doubt lately, related to creating video content and writing, that AS YOU SAID - i just end up not creating. The past week has been better, as I've been acting on my ideas, but today once again it was the feeling of 'goddamn, but is it even good? is it? It's probably stupid. I feel like a loser.'
Thank you for sharing this, I'm glad I'm not alone in this. So much love for you! keep creating, keep making content, you're amazing! Let's kick self doubt and perfectionism in the butt

Abraham-Hicks says when you find yourself paddling upstream you need to just let go of the oars and take a ride on the river. Because it's your river and it already knows where you want to go. As a fellow perfectionist, I find I try to over control, so this analogy really helps.

Hi, as a perfectionist I definitely get it. Perfectionism can be hard at times. Over the last few years, I learned that perfectionism is actually connected to your personal feelings and the way you deal with them. Perfectionism is actually you trying to minimize or avoid the painful feelings of shame, blame and feeling rejected. After I let that sink in and worked on listening to and coping with my feelings I can now say that I am way happier. I am on my way to make peace with the perfectionist inside of me. If I may do a recommendation, I definitely would recommend the writer Brene Brown, she helped me a lot. Brene is a researcher and storyteller and writes about our whole spectrum of feelings, like shame, fear, fulfillment, worthiness, and joy. She tells about her own personal and other peoples experiences and tells how she and other people deal with it. Her books really helped me grow, to get started I would recommend her book "I thought it was just me" to get started. (Btw I don't want to be pushy :) She has a few ted-talks/youtube vids if you just want to explore ruclips.net/video/o7yYFHyvweE/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/iCvmsMzlF7o/видео.html) I hope you get where you want to go soon and are happy and fulfilled with your beautiful life and the content you make.

planning to go to morocco in march super excited!! As someone who struggles with needing to be perfect and always doing what seems like all or nothing if its not perfect then not all. Just a thought maybe making a video everyday is also feeding the doing everything perfectly and all or nothing. I used to be a pole vaulter so this really resignations with me but lower the bar. Not because you don't except the most out of yourself but in order to get where you want you have to be honest and real with where you are now. Be patient and understanding with yourself set yourself up for success, if you meet yourself where your at it makes a huge difference it has changed my life. A little goes along way its not always the huge steps that get us where we are but all the little decision. just a thought you know whats best for you.

You don't need to have specific content or a 'theme' of some sort. None of us only like doing one thing. Which is why I love Louis vlogs so much, there's minimal (but quality) editing and that raw energy is why I've been and kept watching for so long. Every video is different, chill and not pretentious! So whatever you've recorded because you wanted to, because you enjoyed that moment and wanted to share- don't hold back. I just had Thanksgiving at my home after a few years of going to my parent's home. I was super worried about everything being perfect, that I started to get stressed out. After a phone call with one of my guests (very close friends) about my preparations, they told me "don't worry, it's just us, your family", I started to relax. Everything went better than I thought simply because I was relaxed and enjoyed the process. Same goes for life and things that we do. When we just enjoy the ride and not the end result, things actually turn out better than we ever could have planned for. You are a great film maker and you would not have your supporters if we didn't enjoy you as a person as well. Please don't feel pressured to up your game every time. It has been a constant struggle. I am 37 years old and have let fear rob me of so much. I decided to move to Atlanta Ga to start again but the fear followed me here. It wasn’t until I hit rock bottom that met some amazing friends that exposed me to so much life and culture. I realized that I had to love myself and let that self love change me into who I am meant to be. I now have a stronger sense of peace but more importantly I have created an identity and found purpose. Now I am living life, being educated, and sharing what I have learned to the world. Biggest and boldest thing that impacted me the most was your travel vlogs Raya. It was your vlogs that spoke life to me and help me be aware that is a beautiful planet out that needs to be discovered. I can’t wait to see it. Please don’t ever try to be hard on yourself Raya. We went to the same places and he kept rushing those of us taking videos and photos. A few of us had to retrace our steps another day to get the photos we wanted to take! Of course one can never take enough photos of Morocco... I really want to go back! Looking forward to your vlogs and reliving my own trip. :)

First, I love your videos and they're amazing. Second, don't overthink it though and worry about things being perfect. People love real more than perfect Just enjoy life and capture the moments along the way and people will love it because you have such a beautiful soul and that shines through in the videos.

I honestly had the same revelation about my work a few days ago! I just wasn't finishing any project anymore even though I was still very passionate about what I am doing in general... I had to remind myself that perfekt doesn't exist and that I just need to do the best I can and move on... sometimes it is really hard to work with the perfectionist within yourself... also I find it hard to finish something not knowing what I will do next...

I’ve never really shared my music nor have I really shared stuff I wrote with the world. Maybe a couple of people now and then but that’s it. And it’s really constricting and depressing because I can feel that I am holding a big part of myself back. I’m not even exploring it more and giving it space to bloom because I’m also a perfectionist and I tend to tell myself it’s not good enough or that somebody is already doing the exact same thing. So I guess I feel you in a way. This feeling can be really depressing.

I've been struggling with social- and presentation anxiety, but it's so much better know. But today has been hard, i baked a cake, but never felt like it was good enough, my mom asked me to make a decoration, but i just couldn't i felt so insecure, and started crying. i often feel very insecure when it comes making something for someone else, but i'm working on it

Ahhh I understand you and the inner perfectionist eating away at your brain. I love editing and filming so so much but not having a growing audience on my channel kills me everyday because I don’t feel good enough so I get into these holes where I don’t want to continue because I think it’s a waste of time if no one cares!! Super upsetting and I don’t know how to fix it

Hey Raya, I struggle with the same thing. Im a photographer and I will avoid doing projects because of the same issues you are talking about. Im working on it just like you. But I think you are right, we've got to get out of our own way and just do things because we love it instead of doing it to make it perfect. Cuz like you said, as soon as you do something and you think its perfect, you realize all the things you could've done differently to make it BETTER! lol. But keep doing what your doing 👍🏻 I love the mix of cinematic stuff with the speaking parts.

Except that I'm not good at all at photography and videos 😂. I think your content is Amazing 🤗😁 greetings from El Salvador 🇸🇻 😁

Don't forget to have fun with your life and your videos. It will show through and I think this is what draws people to subscribe to you or other youtubers, more that than perfectly shot scenes. It helps and it's great to watch, but seeing the vlogger/youtuber have fun and being relatable is what makes me stay as a viewer :)

When you watch those old videos, maybe try to have be more like, "Aww that was such a good time and WOW, I've come so far! I'm so glad I put in the HOURS and HOURS of work to improve and get to this point." Because those videos aren't bad in comparison to what you can do now, they are what has led you to this current moment!

I totally understand how paralysing perfectionism is. I actually enjoy and watch "imperfect" videos more - I watch lot of really small youtubers who just film their travels on cell phones or with minimal editing. To me it feels really authentic and like I'm actually there. And don't get me wrong, I still love beautifully filmed and edited vlogs, I just think it's good to recognise that imperfect videos are sometimes, in themselves, what people are looking for. RUclips started as normal people filming random bits of their lives after all 😊

Yes! Such a good reminder! It's funny because the people I love watching most make simple vlogs with little to no cinematic clips. This is totally the beauty of RUclips!

Anxiety (decreased confidence) is a signal that your life is out of balance. Successful folks keep things in balance whether an average person or celeberty. You may be experiencing cognitive distortion in terms of the perfection you speak of worsened by perfectionistic behaviour. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) with a licenced therapist is one method of challenging these thoughts. CBT won't balance your life, you have to make the changes.

Raya, you sound tierd and streessed. I would recommend to have a break of all SM and all the friends are talking about SM. go to the freinds are not in your field or travel somewhere alone or even talk to the teraphist. When you cry it means you are very stressed and it is not good for your health

You are an open, authentic person and I love your content. But it sounds as if in this phase of your life filming daily will put another pressure on you. I've heard you talk about internal, spiritual work like yoga and meditation before and I really think there is a healing process, a shift inside you happening. I wish you all the best. Your true self will enfold. Sat Nam (like we say in Kundalini Yoga, the true self will enfold and find its way) Yeah, and I felt like that many times before. I'm a singer and after 20 years and 3 kids I started again to perform. Now, I look very different, my art is deeper and my creativity more profound. But its hard for me to accept my looks when I see my videos. I focus on all the things of my body that I don't like instead of being proud of the song I created and my voice. I had to watch it over and over again and forced me to love myself. I recited mantras like "I'm bountiful, blissful, beautiful I AM" and after a while I was very surprised when one day I watched it again and I only saw a beautiful woman with a wonderful voice.
