I'm late to the party. Love the new setup. Great deep dive on this track. I find it funny how English (at least in the US) and German both have versions of "pups". I love this track, and being able to play it loudly in an area that doesn't understand German is quite fun. Keep up the excellent work. Danke!

Ja, das lyrische Ich in diesem Song ist meiner Meinung nach ein echter Kontrollfreak, der versucht, aufgeschlossen zu wirken. Tolles Video!

I've said it once but cheerleaderman is a German Shakespeare this may come from the fact that his father was a poet and his mom had a career in radio

Thank you so much. I learnt a lot especially the dog part because I genuinely thought about dachshund breed since it's an iconic breed in those parts of Germany, mainly used for hunting.

👍Meiner Meinung nach geht es (auch) um Einsamket und Depression "Wie eine stetig offene Wunde Aus der Seele tropft das Blut"
In my opinion, it's (also) about loneliness and depression "Like a steadily open wound From the soul the blood drips"
    🤔

I had kind of dismissed this song as a bit crude, silly and frivolous and beneath Rammstein but this has definitely shown it in a new and interesting light! Thank you.

The beginning instrumental band part of the song almost sounds exactly like the beginning of the anthem of the SED party in East Germany 'Die Partei hat immer Recht'. Not sure if that's relevant but I haven't seen anyone mention it

The intro piece is almost exactly the melody from Wooden Heart (Muss I Denn) by Elvis Presley in the 1960s. The German folk song Muss I Denn came well before then obviously but as far as global familiarity to the song, the Elvis Presley track is the forerunner.
Rammstein never do anything by accident. Everything is thought out and deliberate. They chose that specific melody deliberately.
    They're so good!

Love your videos man, I like it, but angst is amazing, that song sums up what America is right now everyone here is so on edge and think the world is out to get them, hopefully people stop to take the time look at our situation through the eyes of an outsider a band like rammstein offers an important perspective I think.

10:38 So that would be the german equivalent to "M'lady" in english?
It is funny how many words german words have very similar sounding words in english giving weight to the joke "English is 3 languages in a trench coat"

When I saw the video for the first time, at the start when they start walking behind the cow and noatably the udders, I thought Rammstein has totally played me lol!!! Thinking they were throwing me off and it's about dairy farming or something 🤣🤣
I would really like to know more people's perspectives on the video, especially the part featuring Richard. Are there cultural elements I am missing by being not-German?
I cannot tell if it is showing something like, for example, in this apparently bucolic rural idyll anyone who does not fit "the norm" is forced to hide away. Richard's character cannot openly express an overtly feminine side and so must hide away. I mean I guess it could be "poking fun" despite it not really being a topic to really be treated as such IMO, that of gender identity, sexuality the fight for equality. And I do believe that Rammstein are aware enough of such things that they would not use such a topic "as a laugh". I feel like there is some other meaning I missed?
I guess one theory that partly makes sense I think, is that t is In a way a mixture of "traditional" (conservative) values and ideas of acceptability and also a form of 'toxic masculinity', such as nothing about a woman mattering except her breasts and not seeing her as a person, along with a stereotypical idea of gender roles etc. and the men being in charge despite the women working easily as hard
The toxicity in the masculine being that men have to be a certain "type" of "manly" to be societally acceptable. I came to this possible theory due to aspects like Flake is depicted as being less "macho" and being pushed out of the circle where Ollie, Paul and Christoph are doing the folk dancing and the scenes with Richard, along with the lyrics of course.
But then another theory I came to is that there is the metaphorical symbolism etc in the video for the song, with Till being apparently blind/visually impaired. He is living in this beautiful scenery, surrounded by community, and of course by capable strong beautiful women who are all quite well endowed in the bosom so he is bemoaning all that he does not have when he is in fact surrounded by more than he could imagine but through depression he is blinded to what is right there... But that still doesn't explain/resolve the scenes with Richard
can anybody share their thoughts please on this?

Tanja --- Ja, "Schritten" (mir R), poetisch für "Beinen". "Schritten" reimt sich im Übrigen auf Titten.
