Do you have a scanner recommendation that includes the ABS service function for bleeding brakes?
I do not. Must be for your other car because I do not believe the C5 ABS system requires this capability?? I just bought an AUTEL MD806 after countless hours of comparing seemingly endless models....

Love your videos and this one along with the Corvette Forums helped me to fix my ECBM and replace YAW sensor reading codes. With that said, I live in MN and track my car at Brainerd. I know you are a drag racer but would love videos on track setup and specifically square wheel setup for 2004 C5 Base model. What works the best as hear back stock 18" wheels 275/35/18 work but not sure what that would do to Traction Control, balance, etc... Sorry for high jacking this video as not sure how else to send private questions and ideas for videos. :(
I like the idea of doing vids on new C5 subjects but unfortunately - that is an area I honestly do not know too much about. I do a little drag racing because it is close and I enjoy watchin all the different cars - but I am really just a C5 nut that wants a better performing car for the street and the very occasional strip. Inform all that if your start screen shows any led gages info scroll through the gages button until you get to mileage then reset button for a blank screen.

After installing the 342 gears on my 99 A4 C5 corvette, I've had the shift points changed twice. Yesterday it started slipping a little in 4th. After that the check engine light came on for the first time. After that it must have been locked because going from 1st to 2nd it was short and hard shift very hard. Got home went through the diagnostics and got the 10-PCM-1870, which I understand means slipping. Cleared the code, engine check light went off, and after that the tranny shift light butter. Could this possibly be valve body or pressure solenoid? Any help would be very helpful. Very frustrating. Love ur videos, have learned a lot. Very informative. Keep up the good work. Thankyou...James

Basic one would do it - but it would be cheaper to have someone with HP tuners tune it out.

My check engine light is on. I followed the steps and the code is p0440 but I see an awful lot of links here. Which one is the one for the codes?
Inspect and test the fuel cap to determine how well it fits onto the Fuel Tank Filler Neck. Make sure the Fuel Cap Seal isn’t dry or cracked. If the cap will not seal or hold vacuum/pressure, then it can trigger the P0440 code.
Evaporative Emissions System is what the po440 code listed. Whatever that means.
@@Toys4Life Thank you for that. I will let the mechanic know. A lot of these guys don't want to hear any suggestions from the customer but I have to think this will be helpful to them. Whether they want to listen or not will be determined.
@@Toys4Life I checked the fuel cap to make sure it was tight but the check engine light remains on. Does this mean I just have to set it off somehow or that the problem could be something else? I know mechanics charge by the hour and it could cost me a small fortune in time if they can't figure out the problem right away. Also the right blinker sometimes works and sometimes doesn't so it is very intermittant and I wonder if that has to do with the check engine light being on or if that is a seperate issue altogether.
I have supercharged my 03 corvette like yours and wanted to know how hard was it to tune it yourself I see you did it and was wondering what software and set up you used?
I use HP tuners. I have done some tuning on my 3800 Supercharged Fiero as well. Is it hard. It is challenging. How challenging depends if you have a solid working knowledge of fuel ratios, timing and what engines typically want under different loads. You also really need to want to learn, study research and take baby steps to make sure you do not damage anything. If you dont REALLY want it, I would find a reputable tuner and have them do it. To be fair, I still have a stock cam. If you go with a radical cam as well, that would be more difficult to tune.

Just bought a 2000 c5 Corvette Coupe the Sunday before Christmas and the battery keeps dying yet I see the battery is only 4 months old and when AAA came to jump the car I had them check the alternator and it's not the alternator so something is draining the battery. What do you recommend?
Do a parasitic draw test.
@@Toys4Life I took it to a Chevy dealer and they are telling me to replace the battery. The battery is just 4 months old and had AAA test the battery and alternator and both tested fine. Who to believe??
Did they do any diagnostic work. It starts with a parasitic draw test to see how many milliamps are being pulled when the car is at rest. If something is staying on, say a module, or an aftermarket car alarm etc it will draw the battery faster. If it pulls the normal amount - say 70 milliamps or so then it's something else.
@@Toys4Life A friend who is not a mechanic came over and had done some checks with his amp meter and first he "put the car to sleep. He said all the fuses in the fuse box that is under the hood next to the battery tested ok except for the one to the drivers headlight. He disconnected that light and then reconnected and then it tested ok so he suspected that set up was causing the draw. We jump started the car then I charged the battery with an automatic charger for about 5 hours and we left that head lamp disconnected . It did start the next day but not the following day so he said he still thinks that headlamp is an issue but that he didn't check the fuses that are under the floor board on the passenger side of the car. That's when he suggested I take it to a
Chevy dealer and they told me it needs a new battery. The problem is the battery is just 4 months old so I have no clue what to do. I just told them to go ahead and put a new battery in but could I leave the car there for a couple of days just to make sure it starts. I went through this with my Honda Element. I kept being told I need a new battery and I went through three batteries in one season. It seems to me like most mechanics I deal with don't like to do any investigative work with anything electrical.
@@Toys4Life They charged me a little over $600 looks like $250 for a new battery (the battery in the car was only 4 months old!) and $320 in labor. I got the car back and within 2 days the new battery is dead. I called to let them know and they said bring the car back but The car can't be driven (steering seems to be gone) and I called AAA twice and two times they sent a tow company and when the drivers showed up they said they couldn't take the vehicle on their flat bed. What should I do?
