    As I saw my rock soar through the sky, and then over my garage, all I could hope is that I wouldn't hit a glass object of my neighbors property.

      I already broke a few windows and angered lots of neighbors trying to practice, just go to the woods and pick up a few tin cans

    Even though it's been 5 years I think that is the best video that is really teaching (not just showing) different slinging techniques for absolute beginners!

  • @davidmorningstar
    @davidmorningstar 9 лет назад +2

    You technique is good, I would suggest doubling the length of your sling and throwing bigger stones, you will generate much more power.

    • @bigkahuna2322
      @bigkahuna2322  9 лет назад +1

      David Morningstar Thanks. I noticed that when I started using a longer sling with larger rocks. My accuracy went way down but a lot more power.

    I've got to tell you that your video was the only one that showed clearly any of the sling techniques, and you did more than one! Thanks for the post. We're doing a "slaying giants" series in church and this might be cool for me to do with some of the youth (with tennis balls).

    Throw with the longer sling. Accuracy will become better overtime.

    im a slinger and have been throwing for years my favorite throw is the beleric style im most accurate with that style i hunt rabbits and small game with that throw i do throw with the figure 8 style like you showed and i throw greek side arm my farthest throw with a sling was only 153 yards but im only 16 so... the world record currently in distance i think is 440 yards

    The figure 8 style was what I learned to do from a neighbor as a young teenager. He was a Yaqui Indian from northern Mexico and showed us how to do it that way. We were using the swing it in circles before releasing overhead. The figure 8 is really powerful. However in learning I managed to hit myself several times in the left collar bone on the other side from my right throwing arm. This left a couple of small scars. Your video is quite good at covering the techniques.

    How do you make the pouch so narrow at the ends and wide in the middle?

    • @bigkahuna2322
      @bigkahuna2322  7 лет назад +2

      I have created a frame (nails in a board) in the shape of my pouch with the middle wider and the ends narrow. Then when I weave it the middle weaves are longer/wider and the ends are shorter/narrow. Hope that makes sense.

    Bro thanks so much for your vid.
    Its been so frustrating finding anything on specific techniques.
    Diferent throws.
    But youv cleared up my suspiciinscthat its geometry controll.
    Myself i have prolapsed discs do cant twist.
    But the overhand droo behungvtge head sounds weird.
    But its completely accurate conservation of energy.
    Like a cam in a compound bow.
    Except you are the cam.
    And much stronger.

    Finally! Someone who knows and teaches how to REALLY use a sling (it's a little scary to see how much misinformation is out there and promoted as the proper way, which yields such inaccuracy in the throw).

    bruh do a bowline not a slipknot that will suffocate the shit out of your finger when you use any weighted object

    • @bigkahuna2322
      @bigkahuna2322  6 лет назад +2

      I've been throwing for a long time and my finger hasn't been strangled yet, even with heavy weighted throws. Granted, my slip knot is tied tight rather than loose and doesn't freely or easily move. Also, with the technique I use, I am holding on to both ends of the sling rather than one end with the other pulling on my "tied off" finger as swing the sling for a throw. The only purpose of the sling tied to my finger is to keep it with me when I let go. And yes, if you're concerned with finger strangulation, a bowline would remedy that.

    I ended up selling my soul for the salvation of humanity in December of 2019 due to a string of synchronicities that I am convinced was God taking to me.
