Going to have to lean with Nia on this one, it really depends how much he likes this girl. Where he says that she's the first person to make him feel like that in forever is way too real, you have enough bad experiences you don't even want to try. You're going to get baggage no matter who you date and who knows, maybe she did just get completely fucked over. It was still a respectable move for her to come clean about the herpes though. Could be a lie on how she got it like Bill said, but at the same time she at least had the maturity to suck up her insecurities and be upfront with it. How _MANY_ butterflies is she making the dude feel though? Like is it one of those things where every moment together is a magic moment and time just slips away? Or is it just a school yard crush that he only met a week or two ago? If it's just a crush I definitely wouldn't have sex with her, but I would at least give her a couple dates to test the water. The stigma on herpes makes it out to be so much worse than it actually is, it's common as hell and finding someone you can be with for the rest of your life is more important than worrying about getting a cold sore on your dick a couple times a year.
Out of curiosity and because other people in this comment section have been doubting how common it is, I felt like looking it up. According to the WHO it is estimated that 195 million Americans could potentially have the virus, or higher than 50% of all Americans. On top of this it is completely possible to transmit the disease from a cold sore to crotch like she claimed (aka HSV-1 "cold sores" presenting themselves on the genitals as if it were HSV-2 "genital herpes") www.getroman.com/health-guide/how-many-americans-have-herpes/
The problem is that feelings are confusing. Most people find ''the one'' multiple times in their lives, and after the honeymoon period it turns out its not a good match after all. Feelings are often not signs of an actual match, but signs of familiarity. I.e. you recognize signs of your mother (often times it's too, as cliche as it sounds) in a heterosexual male relationship. Normally that's no problem. But when it comes to physical, irreversible shit like an STD, then there's a problem. Now YOU'RE the one in her position, maybe not being able to find the one because she holds herself to the standard that you didn't hold yourself to prior to meeting her. Is it fair? Nope. Was she honest and did she do everything right? Yup. Doesn't mean that you can't still hold yourself to a higher standard than she can offer at that moment. It would be different if she was 100% certain the one. Of course, then a few cold sores don't mean shit. Whatever. But you can't know that. You can't just be optimistic and think ''this might be the one!! Let's get 100% chance of herpes in a relationship and fuck up my chances in the future.'' It's like commitment on steroids (now it HAS to work out, even if it's a horrible relationship, because you now have this STD too). It's like playing russian roulette with your future.
If you're gung-ho about a girl for the first time in years, follow through with that. Shes not a crack head, she just got unlucky. I'm sure most people can relate to having regrettable, unprotected sex once or twice. Also people dont really know much about herpes. It sounds gross and gets made fun of too much, but its really not that bad. My ex had it. I had protected sex with her for 2 years and never got it. Also medication has only gotten better and better. As long as they take their meds every week they rarely have any symptoms.
Take it easy on us hsv ppl Bill. The stigma reinforced depression is the worst part of it and it’s serious shit. I put a gun in my mouth over it man. We feel bad enough about ourselves and we don’t need to hear that we’re damaged from others. Have a heart man.
@@Terdfertersen it's important to be a realist. if you have asthma, cancer and genetic deformities you shouldn't breed. see reality for how it is - always try to improve but be at peace with the harsh reality. herpes makes you damaged goods but there's a simple solution: find someone else who's infected and the problem is solved. also, if I were you I'd strongly consider a prolonged water fast, it may cure you (?). I cured myself of tumors doing a water fast, shts the closest thing to regenerative magic in existence. good luck.
Nah screw that shit. STD people can bang other STD people, they slept with people without protection so they got themselves to blame. Hopefully getting a child without STD
You KNOW Nia would lose her freaking mind if a guy had ever given her herpes.....a woman though? making all kinds of excuses "well, she has to make sure she stays on her meds etc" always in the defence of wimmin.
It wasn’t about getting herpes, it was about “would you continue to date someone you really liked if they admitted to having it BEFORE you had sex with them?”...
You do realize even with medication you can still get herpes what the fuck please tell me people have not gotten that stupid even if you were a condom you can get herpes on your balls
@@jwdathefax377 Well that kind of depends what type of STD was it because if someone told me that they had an STD openly then I probably would not date them just a suggestion because there’s types of ST D’s that lay dormant
Nia is a hypocrite for sure. If the roles were reversed she’d have said “find another man sweetie he’s obviously slept around and herpes is gross” or whatever we and she KNOWS IT…
Holy fuck! This exact thing just happened to me. 🤯🤯🤯 The girl in my scenario got the herpes from an ex that cheated and I had the same crazy discussion with myself, that that dude had. I ended up getting out of it, but it really sucked. She was amazing and I hated myself alittle for ending it for that reason because it probably took a lot, for her to admit to it, at least so soon. I decided that it wasn’t fair to either of us, for me to go into the relationship at 80%. Her having the herpilyErpilies, was just gonna be this cloud over the relationship. Something I would’ve always been thinking about.
You did the right thing. Ik it seems harsh but if you stayed with her you were risking your health and you could get an incurable disease for someone that might leave you in a month
I got a shingles outbreak when I was 17... (strain of herpes that generally lies dormant in your body after recovering from chickenpox) Showed up to work with a big bottle of Valtrex. Didn't realize that Valtrex was a well known genital herpes medicine. My reputation has never recovered...
Performing oral sex on a woman can actually be a death sentence these days. The rate of throat cancer in men caused by HPV is becoming more and more prevalent. But, point this out in the media and women go nuts. Michael Douglas faced ridicule and says he was embarrassed to say that his cancer was caused by HPV. The same thing happened with Dustin Hoffman and Val Kilmer. Women would rather men die than have them stop going down on them.
Honestly, normally I agree with Bill a lot, but he's got to shut the fuck up when it comes to love. Like being judgmental works a lot but not when it comes to this.
hsv2 can cause both genital herpes and oral herpes but hsv1 only causes oral herpes i believe. Hsv1 is super common (~80% of people have it but its asymptomatic in most people) whereas hsv2 is more like 10-15% i think
www.getroman.com/health-guide/how-many-americans-have-herpes/ 195 million people are potentially infected with the herpes simplex virus. It can spread with symptoms, without symptoms, cold sore to crotch, or vice versa. Flip a coin, that's basically the chance you already have it. Don't be a dick.
Da Beast From Da Weast there’s a difference between cold sores (1) and herpes herpes (2). “Only” about 40 million Americans have HSV 2, which is really a fuckton of people. HSV 1 goes away with some lip ointment in a couple of days and will recur when you get a cold maybe once out of 3 times. HSV 2 is waaaay worse than that and can actually kill you if left untreated. Idk what type this bitch has but it sounds like both.
@@deanwinchester8042 read the article. While HSV-2 more commonly presents itself on the genitals, HSV-1 can transfer from oral lesions (cold sores) to genitals, and vice versa. You wouldn't know it was a different strain unless you were specifically tested for it. While both are irritating and HSV-2 being a bit more aggressive with its symptoms, both strains are non fatal and can be mostly controlled with modern medications.
There's a certain threshold you need to have in order to test positive for herpes. If you ever get tested you will receive your antibody percentage. The ranges for hsv-1 and hsv-2 are
I like Bill, but he can be awfully ignorant. I was in a relationship with a girl who had genital herpes for 2 years, and never got it from her. We were going at it like rabbits with no protection, including oral sex. She would let me know when she had an outbreak so we would not have sex until it went away as it was painful for her. But once the outbreak is gone, there is no danger since there is nothing to contract. It's like kissing someone who has herpes Type 1 when they don't have any symptoms. Bill is doing a great disservice to listeners by stigmatizing people with herpes.
I mean in all fairness we all know bill is a comedian, and I would hope that when looking to have a relationship with a girl who has an std you would AT LEAST do some more research, and definitely talk to a doctor about it. As someone uneducated though I’d 100% agree with bill that you should avoid someone you know has an std, especially if you haven’t known them long. There are tons of other people out there and I’m sure the writer will find someone else who makes him feel that way. Alternatively if he needs to be with this person then he needs to talk to a doctor with her about the conditions and he needs to be very firm about it. Otherwise if they ever break up in the future and he gets herpes from her he has to tell who he’s with he has herpes and make sure to only date people with herpes, it’s a lot of shit no one wants to go through
@@Absinthexx7 I disagree with most of what you said. An STD should NEVER be a consideration in whether you want to have another human being in your life romantically. People can get an STD unknowingly, for example when the bf/gf cheats with someone and then transmits it to the innocent party. That's what happened in my case with my ex. She got it in college from an asshole she was dating at that time. Burr has a huge following, and he should be very careful with his opinions, as many venerate him and follow his advice, no matter how misguided. It's like saying Trump supporters should do their research before listening to him. Yeah, right. Burr should stick to comedy.
@@Edmond347 fair enough but burr can still choose to have a podcast. I agree with your example on trump but I would never blame trump for having crazy fans. I don’t see how that’s his fault and people making misinformed decisions because they asked a comedian for life advice is something that he is to blame for. As for the std I tho n we may have to agree to disagree because I think you should always do what you can to minimize your risk of something happening to you. You could go into a bar, sleep with someone, the condom breaks and you get an std but that’s far less likely than sleeping with someone who you know has an std. I also agreed with you that if somebody does want to be with someone who has an std they should see a doctor about the healthiest way to pursue that relationship. I of course could be wrong on this but I don’t believe there’s a way to be 100% sure you won’t catch herpies while sleeping with someone you know has it. If that’s incorrect that’s why I advise remaining educated but considering how commonly it’s spread, a 100% chance to not catch it while being sexually active seems strange to me
@@Absinthexx7 Having a podcast doesn't absolve you from the social responsibility to be very careful with what you're preaching. For example, inciting violence publicly is a criminal offense. Burr is smart enough, and he should know better than many of his listeners think his words are gospel. You're also vilifying innocent people. How do you minimize the risk of getting an STD from someone who doesn't know they have it? Most, if not all, people who got it, got it unknowingly. If you get it from a hooker or cheating, sure, you are to blame. But not when your bf or gf cheated on you. You want to ostracize these poor individuals purely based on their STD, and I think it's pretty despicable. I have a feeling you are very young and don't knw much about life or what matters in life.
@@Edmond347 I answered your std question already so I don’t quite understand. You can do plenty of things to minimize the risk of getting an std, wearing a condom is an example. If you sleep with someone you don’t know there’s always a chance that they have an std which passes to you, the point was the word minimize. If you go to a bar or hook up with someone on a dating app I’d like to hop they’ll say something if they have an std. maybe they don’t, but the chance of the stranger has an std + they don’t tell you + the condom breaks is much lower than the 100% chance the girl who literally told you she has an std has one
I find it hilarious that some people still push a stigma about dating apps. As if picking up a total stranger at the bar was somehow better. At least online I can look you up and see if you have any recent arrests or how much of a psycho you seem like on Instagram.
Yeah, but the psychos now have all the time they need to manufacture their cons, and accumulate detailed lies, and fake pictures. And nowadays, adulterating details and pics is just common practice. And can you shoot me that link where I can lookup anyone arrested in the country?

Ehh Nia is pretty funny most of the time, but she really does act crazy every once in a while and shit on guys sometimes unnecessarily. Bill on the other hand, as weird as it is to say, does give pretty level-headed and useful advice mostly. Yeah it’s selfish a lot of the time, but he’s still looking out for that person’s best interest. And at least with Bill, when he’s being a moron he knows it, and always says “Jesus I’m a moron”. And with that caveat it’s at least funny to listen to him give bad advice long as he ends it with reiterating how dumb he is and how bad of advice he’s giving.

Love your youtube pic and name!!
"Who you callin' pinhead?!"

There are different kinds. Acne is a form of common herpes. The bad one is genital herpes which isnt common.

Are you serious? Is this a thing? O.o

195 million people are potentially infected with the herpes simplex virus.

Bill on the other hand, as weird as it is to say, does give pretty level-headed and useful advice mostly.
