    I just want to thank you so much for your honesty. I'm teaching a new grade level this year and feeling overwhelmed every day. This video served as a good reminder that I am not alone and can do this. Thank you! Hope it gets better for you!

      You are not alone!! It is crazy how a new grade level or new district can make it feel like your first year teaching all over again!!

    Rooting for you! This is my fourth year teaching first grade too, and the range of needs (SEL, academic) is wider than ever coming off of the last two years we have all had. It's a tough year with its own unique challenges, and I agree that it can easily become very overwhelming. All we can do it our best and be present and love on our kiddos every day. We got this! :)

    Really miss the “follow me around” type vlogs. Used to get ready for work while I watched her get ready. Please bring those back!

      I will definitely try to add more time lapse and details in the future! Thanks for the feedback!!

    Normalize healthy communication, healthy expression and healthy boundaries instead of ghosting or silent treatment.

    In many ways this year feels even harder than last year. Hugs to all us teachers! And I totally know and feel why you mean about the pressure for content, especially in first grade! It’s such a HUGE year. I’ve taught first grade the last three years and now this year I am teaching as a specialist. It’s the first year I’ve felt like I can finally exhale and breathe without all that pressure.

      I completely agree!! We will all make it through, just needing a lot of patience and grace along the way!

    Where did you get your teacher bag? I've been looking for one like that! Do you love it?

      Hey! It is a Himawari bag from Amazon! I have been using it since March and LOVE IT! I will say since I have a lighter color it has gotten a little dirty, but the purple was just too cute to pass up! www.amazon.com/gp/product/B088QD88XP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    How do you handle teaching phonics while wearing a mask?

    • @mrs_katie_in_elementary
      @mrs_katie_in_elementary  3 года назад +3

      It is very difficult! My new sound wall features pictures of lip tongue and teeth placement for making specific phoneme sounds, and often I move 6 feet away and pull down my mask so I can show them the sound

    I’m sorry you’re feeling so down. I think you do a great job of keeping a positive spin by looking ahead and remembering Rome wasn’t built in a day.

    I understand how you’re feeling building those relationships. I moved from New Zealand to London, started at a new school under a new curriculum and school system and trying to teach 5 year olds to read and write. It was tough but now I think back on that year so fondly.

      So good to hear that you have fond memories of that year!! So easy to get wrapped up in all the responsibilities and stresses of adjusting!!

    Hi! I am currently completing clinical teaching for elem ❤️😊 I love all your videos!!! I am thinking on starting my master's in the summer and that means being a first year teacher and simultaneously completing masters... (am I crazy?) ... do you recommend?! 🥲🧡? the online program is 10 months, 1 week to complete assignments for the most part and asynchronous... thanks in advance ❤❤

      I did my masters program prior to teaching and am so glad I did... I think doing both as a first year teacher may be a big load.. Could you start it after your first year of teaching? Like the beginning of your second year? That might help with stress
