@@Duf You know what I just found out.... They dropped the Ambient lights on the current V8S. On the Inmotion website it still says "comes with side LED lights" and because I just could not find it in the app settings I only now saw further down on the web page a very small sentence at Upgrade Version saying "and the removal of ambient lights".... I don't really care that much about the lights, but this is misleading from Inmotion for sure. Apart from that I like the first meters on it.
Well, I didnt expect to be looking at lower spec wheels to see if I could find good prices, but here we are. Im wierdly tempted to get one of these too! I never had an inmotion before. I sold my ks-14 but I miss it a lot, this looks like it will fill that void. Keep on truckin Duf!
I have a V10F and it fits almost everywhere my MTen3 does - it would make a great camping wheel if it was a little knobblier tire maybe a little more squish...all the lower tier "last year" wheels have really kind of all become affordable (exception in new wheels the begode Mini brought entry level even down more than the MTen3 with better trail capabilities but fatter profile so it doesn't go under many seats). V10F has been on what seems to be on a permanent 200 USD discount every time I think about recommending it but that's only if you have over 1k budget; now it's harder to recommend the mini to people with little kids if the V8S is also on the same sort of ongoing discount that the V10F enjoys. It's nice to see how the smaller wheels do with adults on them, so this is pretty good info - thanks for taking the time to edit/post up. I can see us grabbing the clamming/fishing gear and scooting from campground to the ocean to go get some fresh seafood (Oregon has completely public beaches, so all state campgrounds along the entire coast have bike paths, mostly paved, down to the ocean and recreation areas nearby like lakes and mountains). It's a bummer about the possum - they actually eat carrion so they're like housecleaners of roadkill. Even where I'm at I don't think animal rescue would help me out for a possum, even though they're not invasive.
This wheel is a great size for the "last mile" as you said. Some areas public transport doesn't allow big battery items like this and if needed you can conceal it in a (large) backpack. I had the solo wheel Glide 3 in 2018 and loved it as an alternative to my larger wheel when I just needed to make a quick run to the mini Mart or whatever. Sometimes you don't need a cannon to kill a mosquito
I've had my V8s for 2 years - Has over 1,500 miles on it, and I still use it daily. Great accessories for it is an EUC bodyguard, and the light-weight NyloNove pedals. I got 32mi out of mine on a single charge (beginner, slow riding trips). I now set my V8s to 15 mph tiltback - It's so easy to forget to take it slow.
I just bought my first one, should be here Sat. Debating how much protection I need lol. I probably should've gotten the cover, still may. Mainly debating padded suit or full on armor. I've played hockey and skated most of my life both roller and ice so I can't see this being too much of a learning curve but I am older and when things happen they tend to hurt longer lol
For under $700 this seems really nice. I've been soncidering getting one. Roads around here are so awful tho, not sure I should get another non-suspension wheel
What a great vid! Just got one of these to learn on and l’m loving it! I have some questions for you if you have a mo: 1) I notice you keep your knees out from the wheel whereas I tend to clamp the wheel. Should I make an effort to relax and just control through my feet? Or is it rider preference? 2) Is that the Nobleman elbow and knee pads you’re still using? I saw your review vid from a year ago - glad to see they’re holding up well and presumably you still like them? 3) What helmet and gloves do you prefer? 4) What is the GPS unit on your wrist? THANK YOU for any help you can provide!
My knees are away from the wheel because I am bow legged. It is better to keep them closer if you can. The V8s is so thin/light you can control with basically foot movement but with heavier/bigger wheels you can not. Yes still use my Nobleman gear, I like it. It's lightweight and comfortable. I have 4 different helmets for different situations. I like the Triple 8 helmets for lower speed stuff. I wear Nobleman gloves but they don't offer the best protection. The GPS is an old Garmin Forerunner GPS. It's ancient but works well.
You mentioned this was a refreshed version of the V8S - what was changed? I'm looking at this wheel as a learning wheel (I'm 51yo, 140# 5' 9" guy). No true reference to gauge your height but I'm guessing 6' 2" @ 175# - you made riding this wheel look so easy.
I honestly don't see the point of any bigger or faster EUC than this one in urban settings. The primary value of EUC is having a speed multiplier that one can take anywhere with. I understand the fascination with the performance and offroad models, but they are not fit for the urban use that the EUC is aimed for IMO. Even with this top speed, this EUC will provide incredible freedom and utility, and will be nimble enough to go into most places in a city, where a bigger/ heavier vehicle couldn't be taken to.
The one thing I like about riding older wheels is that, you get to enjoy the views and soak it in, while most people have faster wheels, with them, you just breeze through everything and not noticing and enjoying the world around you as much as the slower speed of EUC of before.
Duf - not a wheel snob, and kind to animals. Good work.
Yes on both ;)
Mine’s on the way. Can’t wait.
Congrats!

Mines on the way also! My first EUC ever. 🎉

Yep it is a more capable KS-14 replacement, really solid.

It's light and it's thin. Will fit in some spots a chubby Mten 4 will not!
I’m so used to reviews about getting a faster wheel, which I find a bit boring. So this one was really refreshing.👍
It's a throwback to simpler, slower times

Yep I agree, V8S is a great basic wheel!
Have a V-8, F very reliable wheel and great to train new riders
V8S is the mildly improved version except no side lights and no BT speaker
How do you unlock the speed limit?
It's all controlled in the app.
@@Duf thank you so much

Couldn't agree more!
Bought a v8s off amazon. its a great backup/travel wheel and with the cover on it, my go to for teaching new people.
Good choice!
Great vid. I got a Lynx for my 1st wheel and end up grabbing a V8s just to learn on a little easier.
Good idea my man!

I miss the suspension but luckily roads around here are good.

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply.
You are welcome buddy
Going back to older wheels is like night and day. It's crazy how much the wheels have changed from back in the day.
It sure is but there is something about the simplicity and slower speeds that still appeals to me
I’m looking for a beginner wheel and this might be perfect for me. Not looking for speed but at least 18 mph and long range.
This fits the bill
That kickstand is on sale for $15 at Alienrides under the either the ‘Deals’ tab or the ‘v13 Parts’ tab. Screamin’ deal.
Thank you! I grabbed it, a screaming deal indeed!

Better batteries, no side LEDs. Great wheel to learn on
Love my v8s. Usually 27miles range but I ride push back lot on mine. I prefer my EX30, Buts it's a fun wheel to d
Play around
Totally agree!
YES!
Duf, what knee pads are those?
Those are my Sailate pads from Temu
@@Duf thank you!

There are benefits for sure
Please - add a speed data on video!
For a V8S??? lol
@@Duf "S" means speeeed))) so for sure!
2024 is the year of smaller, more sensible, less ludicrously powerful wheels.
You forgot LESS EXPENSIVE

Yes I think I made the exact same observation. Slow down and smell the roses!
