I have a airwheel X3 for 2 years. You can Just ride when it is raining, on grass. But NOT GRAVEL the airhweel Will pick up the little stones, and then your moter gets stuck. I had this, and i repeared it by my own. But it is a lot of work trust me..

My friend has the Q3 and I have the X8. I want to see how they perform together.
What is needed to get these types of vehicles legalised in the UK is a campaign for small electric vehicles to have their own classification.
Perhaps a minimum age for pavement use or road use.
Right now is probably the best time to go for it getting as many companies involved as possible.
The govt is constantly on about providing work, getting people off their ass to do something and here we have companies waiting to provide wonderful new kinds of machines being stifled by outdated stone age legalities that the govt simply won't change.
I've been discovering all these things can be used in many parts of the EU and the USA, however the UK is pretty much the only country that has outright put a ban on them, or if you are lucky enough and can wade through the paper work to register a small 500/1kw scooter then you can legally trundle down the road in the outside lane (because you will not be allowed to use some bus lanes or cycles lanes) at a whopping 20 mph or there about.
Just out of interest they even can use these things in Russia and China two countries that it is claimed the people are supposedly oppressed, so one has to wonder if they are oppressed and are able to ride electric bikes that can go faster than 15 mph and can have electric scooters and these electric unicycles what the hell are the people in the UK, slaves to an outdated system?

Yesterday I was riding x8, when someone overweight got on to try , he fell two times to left side of the left tire, putting all his weight on the left tire, few minutes I noticed the tire has been completely lose air, making it not able to ride. I want to know is it protection by Airwheel, or the guy has damaged the tube of my tire inside, or what should I do?

Chris G yes here in northern canada i used mt q5 from feburary till now. i found the airwheel to be great in snow and ice i used it to go to work every day . it never let me down and it never sliped out from under me.. many times it was hard to walk on the ice and the airwheel did better than me walking
damn sounds fun :) gotta try that if i manage to get a hold of one, i like using my bike all year around but now i want an airwheel to get to job no sweat, pretty similar climate here in norway too as in canada.

Unless it speeds up to 30 mph when i am doing traveling for long distances I will stick to walking to work or uni instead of getting fat riding this .cool thing to have for little fun but diffintily wouldn't replace it for walking.

Which one is the fastest most responsive and distance capable one?
Fastest and most responsive would be the X8 because it has the largest 800 watt motor, tied with the Q3 and Q5 but it is lighter than them, hence more capable, since it doesn't have the extra wheel and as much battery. The distance winner would be the Q3 because withbthenlathest battery option they offer, it can be ridden nearly 30 miles on a single charge. Hope this helps

Top speeds are all the same due to ensuring they are allowed for use on pavements etc. It is the acceleration and power up gradients that improves as you go up the models :)

This was my first unicycle and I have really thrashed this thing for the past eight months or so and it has stood up very well. The only thing that has broken are the plastic pedals, they take a beating as you learn to ride, but an upgrade to metal pedals is fairly inexpensive and pretty necessary for most any unicycle. I have since acquired a 36 inch Coker for commuting and having ridden that I realized that the saddle on this unicycle can be a bit uncomfortable after a few hours riding, but still it is a great unicycle to start out on.

I recently replaced my x8 with a Gotway ACM 16". The Airwheel now feels so slow, it kind of depressing.
John Sterling I've had the X8 for over a year and a half now. One really positive thing I can say about it is that it's built like a tank. Seriously, I'm surprised it hasn't broken yet due to the amount of abuse it's gone through. I did also get it on sale for only $250 so it was a steal.

The distance claims are not correct at all.
I have the X8 & only get 5-6 miles.
Someone else has the Q3 & only gets 6-7 miles range when you claim 30 miles.
Can you post a video demonstrating the distances with a GPS map.

Problem with all these: Battery is swapped not out easily or even at all(distance anxiety). Most others are NOT waterproof. Temporary bumper material to learn with should be included (since it's 40 cents from China). Get rid of the million screws that hold it together just to get to the tube (look to racing industry for fasteners). Too slow. 15-20 mph with a Q series isn't unreasonable, present speed means too much transit time.
I own an x3 and want an x8 but they have shit range, you can't go anywhere without the risk if having to carry it home again.

Actually after investigating the legal status of these vehicles you might actually have a technicality which makes them not exactly legal but invisible to the law.
It turns out that these vehicles are not represented under the law due to them only having one wheel and the law specifically states two wheels or more with regard to cycles, this is less so legally not affected.
This is a very strange situation the last time this happened was with the goped or scooter, in the end the law were given powers to confiscate them.
Now the problem is that one day someone may be turned into a test case as with the goped.
So technically you are correct, I'm still looking into it but you could potentially be correct in saying they are legal, purely based on a technicality in the wording of the new to be released in april amendments.
Let's put it this way if a lawyer rode one of these the law would be able to do nothing against them I suspect, simply because they are not represented under the law as vehicles, there is no law as far as I'm aware that does not permit toys being used on the road so long as they are not being represented as vehicles.
Technicalities, but don't take my word for it take a look for yourself.

flitsies I have talked to a number of policemen now about these - one traffic guy in Surrey, and 4 in London.
The Met policemen saw no issue, saying that it was basically an unclassified vehicle.
One of them was very knowledgeable about the law and has recently arrested someone under a law from 1760, and said he new of nothing that he could book you under. He saw no difference between the Airwheel and those micro-scooters that some people commute on.
The traffic guy thought that it might be treated like an electric cycle, which would be more problematic if it were true. However it would surely be more likened to a unicycle - although the rules on these are less defined.
There are 3 cases that seems to get quoted whenever this gets discussed in one of those Internet forums :
Go-ped : @2000City Mantis electric Scooter : @2008
Segway : @2011
2 of those cases are complicated by the fact the riders were disqualified from driving at the time, plus shot some red lights on the road.
But it doesn't looks like the Airwheel could be classified as a motor vehicle, and it seems pretty obvious that it can't as a reasonable person would not conclude that it was built for road use.
The more knowledgeable Met policemen pointed out that several times things like gopeds had been to court and the court had avoided passing judgement as they didn't want to set a precedent.He wished me good luck with the pavements in London!
All the Met policemen had seen Airwheels on the street and liked the idea.
***** Ok yes I did concede that this vehicle does not seem to come under the law of bicycles or segways or even scooters.
The one thing I noticed when checking this out was that if you use the two wheeled version then it will become illegal simply because it has two wheels, and the law pertains to two wheeled vehicles.
However if you use the one wheeled version there simply are no laws concerning it, none at all yet.
If the police have no issue with it then it will probably not cause any problems if people use them with care and don't start having accident with them colliding with pedestrians.
However I'm pretty sure if people use them irresponsibly it will attract attention.
I will post some of the information I got from dft on this subject to clarify the issue.
But the important part is without a doubt the fact that the law at the moment states vehicles with two wheels and above, as this is a one wheel vehicle clearly the law does not apply.
I still need to check to see what if any laws I can find regarding the use of them on the pavement even though I was told by dft that it was illegal, so far I've found nothing to indicate this in law.
So you might just have a winner at last something we can use that doesn't need to be over regulated to death.
The electric scooter has been almost killed by regulations just a few of us hard headed people willing to spend money on insurance and other regulation issues left.

Regulations 2015 and come into force on 6th April 2015.

There is more to this but it clearly states two wheels or more not one wheel therefore so long as you only use the one wheeled version the law does not affect you.
I can only say wow the govt missed a trick for once we can legally ride them so long as the police have no problem with them then the police will not bother anyone riding it responsibly, key word responsibly I think.

I am not sure it really has two wheels as such though as they are part of the same assembly - just two tyres ?
And it doesn't have any pedals, so it is clearly not a pedal cycle.
So I think it is unclassified.
But if it is classified like an electric bike (notwithstanding an issue over the motor size, and not being pedalec - which it can't be...) then you would get a fixed £30 for riding on a pavement by a road, but other paths would be a different issue, so canal paths would be fine, etc.
***** Well the one's I looked at looked as though they had two wheels side by side, of course it would be pretty pathetic to fine someone, but no it could be much worse than a simple £30 fine if indeed they are two wheels as they would fall into the category of a motor vehicle due to the motor size and having two wheels.
However the one wheel version that you can clearly see has only one wheel is totally unregulated other than the laws on toy safety so basically so long as it carries the ce mark there seems no laws that I can find to prevent anyone riding one of these, which is great news.
The information I have provided comes straight off the document from the dft unchanged.
It's only a snippet as I don't want to be seen as breaking any copy write laws.
But if you read though that section it states clearly two wheels, that is the key I think and the fact that it says two wheels means the motor size has no baring on the issue.
The main factors will be how responsible people use them, if they start zipping through crowds of people the police will press for a law change and they will get banned without a doubt, so perhaps the companies selling them could add a little sheet advising people to behave responsibly when using their electric unicycle and stressing not to ride through crowds of people, at least that way the law will see they are acting responsible and perhaps will leave them alone.
flitsies If you look at those cases it is clear that it will only be deemed a motor vehicle if a reasonable person would deem that it has been designed for use on the road, not just on the pavement. In this case, even with the two wheels, I think you would have to be pretty unhinged to consider it suitable for use in traffic. Even in a cycle lane it would cause a lot of disturbance, as it can't go fast enough to avoid troubling bicycles.
There is a video on youtube with a guy testing the range of a ninebot device (I think) and traveling along a country lane, and it looks well dodgy. There is nowhere to mount lights, for one thing (Although the Q5 has a light - but it is not any sort of legal road light - wrong color for the direction it faces, etc).
I think the main thing is to ensure you have liability insurance...
Funny my brand new Q3 only gets 10 miles... I not happy....
