Portugal floods: Election goes ahead as far-right in run-off for first time

  • Portugal is being battered by another storm, with torrential rain in Lisbon and swollen rivers worsening floods in towns under a nationwide state of emergency.
    The disruption coincides with Sunday’s presidential runoff, the first to feature a far-right candidate, as Chega leader André Ventura faces Socialist veteran António José Seguro.
